Chapter 6: Qiu YiBai is a crybaby?!

After returning home, Shen NingXin placed the conch shell on the TV cabinet’s most conspicuous spot.

Although it was really ugly, it was nevertheless given to her by her boss, so she should take care of it.

Thinking of Qiu YiBai’s awkward tone when talking to her on WeChat, Shen NingXin couldn’t help but laugh.

But there’s still one thing that’s puzzling her. Why would Qiu YiBai give her a card for no reason?

Was it really just to thank her for helping her organize files for a little over ten minutes?

Could that really be it?

Shen NingXin waited in front of the microwave as it heated her food and contemplated, but she still didn’t understand.

Oh well, it’s fine if she couldn’t figure it out. She’ll find out eventually.

Thinking like this, Shen NingXin ate her meal, hummed a song as walked toward the bathroom to shower, and finally returned to lie comfortably on her bed.

Feeling the fragrant and soft blanket wrap around her body, she felt the exhaustion built up from the day disappear.

Shen NingXin stretched her limbs out, swept the teddy bear over from the side of the bed and placed it next to her, and then opened her phone up to the group chat so that she could study up on the voting method.

She didn’t have the habit of going on Weibo1, and even specifically downloaded it onto her phone just to vote. In fact, she had to register a whole new account.

Clicking the link Jiang Yue sent, Shen NingXin used up all the votes she had, then exited and swiped the screen twice before finally clicking on her homepage.

Weibo forced her to follow a series of people, so sitting in her following list were faces she had never seen before.

Shen NingXin had a little OCD, so she quickly deleted them one by one with her finger. After exiting, Weibo started doing its thing again, showing her who also had an account in her contacts.

“So many tricks,” Shen NingXin murmured, but she still clicked ahead.

She actually discovered there were quite a number of people who used it.

The majority were friends from her school days. Their main purpose in creating an account was to follow celebrities and record their life. The remaining bit was her newly added colleagues.

Shen NingXin looked as she swiped down, actually feeling a bit curious at the moment.

Then . . . as she scrolled, she saw a familiar name—

Qiu YiBai.

Their President Qiu also used Weibo?!

Shen NingXin was very surprised and quickly clicked on her profile to see what Qiu YiBai used Weibo for.

The homepage opened up, and the familiar KeRui logo and related advertisements appeared on the screen. It was the same as what Shen NingXin saw in Qiu YiBai’s WeChat moments2.

“. . . . . .”

She’s really using Weibo as WeChat moments, huh.

Shen NingXin was silent for a while and finally started laughing, her body shaking along.

Qiu YiBai’s Weibo was very lifeless. She barely had any followers, and after clicking on the list, she saw that they weren’t even real followers. Practically no one liked her posts.

Why was she so persistent in posting advertisements then.

As she thought about it, a post suddenly appeared before her, and she saw that there was actually a like in the lower right corner.

Shen NingXin immediately became interested, and following the like, she clicked on the person’s profile.

The profile picture was of a puppy with long ears, blue eyes, and a small, smiling mouth. It was a popular cartoon character recently and was actually the same one as the puppy pendant hanging off of Shen NingXin’s bag.

The pendant was originally drawn out of a blind box machine at Toy City. She thought it was pretty and hung it off her bag. She didn’t expect to see it here today.

Must be fate then.

She nodded and continued to scroll down. She then discovered that this Weibo’s owner seemed to be a complete little crybaby. After browsing through the entire page, she saw that the crying and “QAQ” symbols were used the most often.

“I drove 20 kilometers to eat an Internet-famous dessert, but there were too many people in line so I couldn’t get to my turn. I cry QAQ.”

“While drinking coffee, I sneezed, and the coffee spilled all over me, I’m sad, I’m gonna cry.”

“On my business trip, I also went mountain climbing, and I accidentally fell and hurt my leg. I was in pain for so many days, I cry QAQ.”

“I overheard a colleague talk behind my back, I’m upset, I’ve officially cried.”

“Officially cried” huh.

As Shen NingXin glanced over, she almost couldn’t recognize the word cry anymore.

President Qiu had such a crybaby among her friends?

She tilted her head and tried to imagine who it could be, but she couldn’t make out what this person looked like.

Scrolling even further down, a photo with a tricky shooting angle popped out. It was a very unskilled selfie shot.

The background in the photo was of a mountain surrounded by weirdly shaped trees.

The person stood in front of the thickest tree. Their face was emanating happiness, and their left hand formed into a peace sign.

Suddenly, Shen NingXin jumped up from her bed.

It was nearly ten at this moment, Shen NingXin’s usual bedtime for the weekdays.

Even the elderly who danced in the dance square had put away their equipment and were getting ready to return home. It was surprisingly quiet outside.

But Shen NingXin’s just could not fall asleep.

She couldn’t believe this fact.

The person in the selfie was obviously Qiu YiBai.

After some thought, it was evident that the Xiao Wang, Xiao Yang, and Xiao Han mentioned in her Weibo referred to Wang Xi, Assistant Han, and others.

The coordinates of the location shown on the homepage’s first post were also indeed the place where Qiu YiBai took a business trip to last time.

With one coincidence after another, she was confident that the owner of this account was definitely Qiu YiBai.

So, the Qiu YiBai who’s always so fierce was really, in reality, a crybaby.

“. . . . . .”

Surprise, totally unexpected surprise.

Shen NingXin’s brain stopped functioning for a moment, her thoughts jumping all around before Qiu YiBai’s usual murderous look appeared in her mind.

That look . . . was exactly like a fully grown tiger baring and its teeth and slashing its claws around.

It held no connection to the crybaby at all.

Shen NingXin was dumbstruck and with a flick of her finger, accidentally returned to her phone’s home screen.

When clicking back in, she suddenly discovered that the little crybaby had posted a new Weibo—

“Today, one of my colleagues cared if I was eating well.

Considering her usual performance was good, I gave her a card.

I’m a teeny bit happy.”

“. . . . . .”

When she woke up in the morning, the dark circles under Shen NingXin’s eyes were very obvious.

It’s no wonder, considering how she barely slept last night. Whenever she closed her eyes, her mind was filled with images of Qiu YiBai’s murderous look and her Weibo posts.

After finally falling asleep with much struggle, the alarm soon rang.

She sighed, picked up the concealer from her makeup desk to cover her dark circles, and also put on light makeup to bring more life to her face.

Looking at the time again, she saw that she was almost late for work.

It was too late to cook, so after putting on her coat and grabbing her bag, Shen NingXin ran downstairs to buy breakfast. Seeing that the dessert shop nearby was on sale right now, she also bought some pastry puffs.

After doing all that, the bus happened to arrive.

She was a little nervous the entire way, but fortunately, there were fewer vehicles and pedestrians than usual. The bus swayed for a while, and finally, she was taken to the company safely.

She had one minute before she was late.

Shen NingXin hurriedly clocked in, sat down at her seat, and her flustered breathing finally calmed down.

“Why are you in such a hurry?” Pei Qing murmured behind her, as though making a joke, but her words had a hint of ridicule in them, “You were so panicked I thought there was a ghost chasing after you.”

As soon as her voice fell, Qiu YiBai walked into the office. Her eyes moved slightly and she cast a cold look toward this side.

“. . . . . .”

Pei Qing probably didn’t expect that a remark she casually made would hit the nail on the head. Stunned, she quickly lowered her head, grabbed the landline phone next to her, and started to call the factory to supervise their process, pretending she was very busy.

How awkward.

Shen NingXin coughed dryly, then turned on the computer to prepare for work. The moment she touched the mouse with her finger, she suddenly heard a cold “Hmph” from the direction diagonally above her.

Glancing up again, she saw Qiu YiBai walk into her office with a sullen face, throw her bag onto the table, and noisily pull the chair out.

It was obvious she was unhappy.

It seemed . . . there was a hint of the prideful little crybaby she saw on Weibo yesterday.

The morning passed by uneventfully.

Zhao Jie came back from her holiday and was filled with energy. That along with how she did indeed give Shen NingXin too much work yesterday, she was embarrassed to trouble her anymore today.

So she only asked Shen NingXin to organize this month’s shipment form that needed to be reported to Finance and took on everything else herself.

Seeing that she didn’t have much to do, Shen NingXin utilized this time to eat her breakfast.

Although President Qiu was strict with them about work, she never cared about the employees eating snacks. After all, working used up a lot of energy, and it was reasonable to supplement it with food and breaks.

After Shen NingXin had breakfast, she took out the fresh pastry puffs she bought this morning and shared them with her colleagues.

Although she had just arrived, because she was good-looking, completed her tasks neatly, and was polite, she was well-liked.

Especially those male colleagues, they smiled like a blooming flower when she neared them.

After passing out the pastry puffs to her left side, she turned around to the right. Just then, she caught a glimpse of a pair of eyes from behind the distant glass window.

Qiu YiBai was looking at her with a murderous look in her eyes.

Shen NingXin was taken aback, the pastry box in her hand almost falling out.

If it were in the past, she definitely would’ve thought that Qiu YiBai was angry, and she would quickly flee back to her desk, sit down, and find something to do.

But at this moment, for some reason, she suddenly read something else from Qiu YiBai’s eyes.

It seemed like . . . she’s looking forward for me to give her one, too?

Shen NingXin was shocked by her own thoughts. Her footsteps stopped for a moment, and finally, she decided to walk in her direction.

Pushing the finely-made glass door open, Shen NingXin came to Qiu YiBai’s side and stood still. She nervously pushed her pastry box in front of her.

She also put in the effort to lift her lips up, and asked, with uncertainty and a certain expectation, “President Qiu, would you like to try one? It’s, it’s really delicious . . .”

The atmosphere was silent, and after a moment, Qiu YiBai suddenly stretched out a hand.

“Eat less junk food.”

Although that’s what she said, she still picked one up and put it into her mouth.

So, she guessed right.

Ah, President Qiu’s look a moment ago was really just her expressing her desire to eat.

“Weibo” is China’s second largest social media platform. Think of it as a combination of Twitter and Instagram. “moments” or “朋友圈” is a place on WeChat where people share moments from their daily life.
