"She is in her room," Eric sitting on one of the couches replied as he stare at the lady he could tell ran all the way there after receiving his phone call earlier.

Hearing her mother is resting in her room Jasmine hurried up the stairs without thinking. Midway through the stairs, she turned to stare at the guy still staring at her.

"Is father around?" Jasmine asked.

"No, he went out of town before Madam fell ill. He will be back in two days," Eric told her what Jasmine would have loved to hear.

"That is great!" Jasmine said in a tone that showed she was happy that her father was out of town.

She continued climbing the stairs after confirming what she wanted to know.

When Jasmine reached her parents' room, she met her mum lying on the huge bed with her eyes closed. Jasmine sat at the bed and raised her hand to feel her mother's temperature.

"She is this ill yet she won't let any of the maids take care of her and neither does she want to go to the hospital. What is wrong with mum? Is she acting so stubborn because father is not around?" Jasmine thought aloud.

She stood up with her handbag in her hands. After dropping the handbag on the couch, she took off her jacket. Jasmine went downstairs only to come back with a maid carrying a bowl of water and a piece of white cloth in her hand.

Reaching the bed, Jasmine collected the bowl of water from the maid.

"Nobody is allowed to come into mum's room except sent for by me. Anyone who dared to disobey the rule will face the consequences," Jasmine said in a cold and distant tone as she collected the piece of cloth from the maid.

"I will pass your orders to the others, Young Miss," The maid bow before she exited the room.

After the maid left Jasmine dipped the white cloth in the clean water, brought out the cloth and squeeze the water out of it. She thereafter placed the cloth on her mother's forehead.

She repeated the same thing until her mother's temperature was stable.

"Thank goodness her condition is better now," The tired Jasmine heaved a sigh of relief. Knowing too well that Jackson must be expecting her return, she left him a message. So that nothing will disrupt her mother's sleep, she put her cell phone on silent in case someone called her.

She rested her head against the bed. Because of how exhausted she was Jasmine dozed off a few minutes later.

Twenty minutes later, Jackson previously overseeing that the chefs made no mistake with the meal came into the room. He picked up his cell phone to call and ask Jasmine why she hasn't returned yet.

He became a bit anxious when he saw her message. Jackson dialled her line to check up on her but there was no response on the other end even after his third attempt.

"I wonder if Auntie is alright. I would have loved to visit them right now but I am sure her old man will make things difficult for her if I showed up unannounced," Jackson muttered as he paced about the room.

The worried Jackson continued walking about the room for a long time. He did not even notice it when Lilian enter the room.

"Boss, are you ok. You look disturbed," Lilian said out of concern.

"Nothing is wrong. And why are you here? I don't recall sending for you," Jackson composed himself.

"I came to tell you that the dining table has been set about five minutes ago," Lilian stated her reason for coming to his room.

"Ohh...," Jackson who had long forgotten about the meal he had the chefs prepared remark.

"You and the others can have it. I don't have any appetite right now," Jackson said nonchalantly as he approached his bed.

"What!" Lilian blurted out in shock.

"But why boss? Are you and Madam quarrelling?" The worried Lilian who saw how hard her boss worked just to make sure everything was perfect about having dinner with the Madam asked.

"Stop asking questions and do like I said," Jackson said in a stern tone. Lilian turned and left the room on seeing that her boss did not want to talk about the thing bothering him.

Back in the Avans Mansion, Eric on entering the room was surprised to see that Jasmine had fallen asleep.

"Madam will be very pleased when she wakes up and see the Young Miss sleeping beside her," Eric muttered as he stare at the mother and daughter duo.

Eric didn't leave immediately but he went to where the blankets are stocked, brought out a pink blanket and came back to cover the sleeping Jasmine with it.

He left after making sure they were comfortable.

While Mrs Avans and everyone else was having sound sleep Jackson could not get a wink of sleep. He was so worried about Jasmine and her mum's condition. He kept tossing on the bed.

In the morning Mrs Avans who felt extremely sick before she fell asleep was surprised when she woke up and realise that her fever was gone.

Without looking around she slowly sat up with her back resting on the headrest. On turning around he was surprised to see Jasmine sitting on a black chair with her head and hands resting on the bed.

"So the silly girl ran all the way here after learning that I was unwell," Mrs Avans muttered as she stretched and pat Jasmine's hair.

"I would have been so happy if she visits home more often but I know the silly girl won't do that so let me enjoy her presence while I am seeing her because I don't know the next time she will visit me," Mrs Avans said as she continued stroking Jasmine's face. Her constant hand movement on her face made Jasmine wake up.

Jasmine jerked up when she recalled the condition she met her mum earlier.
