Chapter 396: Jackson Meets Jane

"I know you won't be able to tell everyone at the office about why I am absent so just tell them I went on a business trip. I don't know when I will return, so during the period I am away take care of yourself. Try to sort things out with Pretty Boy. Don't keep everything all bottled up because it will only make you fall sick," Jackson concluded reading the message Jasmine sent Catherine.
"Why would she abruptly leave like that? I was worried about her whereabouts but the message has left me all confused. I don't even know what is going on here? What the heck happened while I was away?" Jackson thought aloud. He called Catherine's line to ask for clarification.
"Catherine, what does the message mean? What on earth happened to Jasmine while I was away?" Jackson asked as he went back to sit on the couch.
"After the incident of the leak, Jasmine felt very guilty about what you and your company was going through. The pictures of her and Nicholas that went viral worsened everything. Because you refused to answer any of her calls or call her back, Jasmine thought you hated her. She thought you blamed her for what you were going through...,"
"Why would she think of that? None of all that happened was her fault so why on earth will I blame her for my misfortune?" Jackson asked as though it was Jasmine he was talking to.
"You have no one but yourself to blame for why she thought that way. She had sleepless nights because of these incidents. As if that wasn't enough your mum barged into her office to accuse and threaten her after slapping her....,"
"Mum slapped Jasmine?" Jackson asked suspiciously standing up from the couch.
"Of course she did. I was so angry that I almost fought your mum but I had to hold back for Jasmine sake. Jasmine went through a lot these past days and your silence worsened everything. I guess this is why she decided to leave...,"
"I don't believe Jasmine would leave because of these reasons. Jasmine isn't the timid type who gets easily scared away. She loves me so much so I am sure she wouldn't have left me because I didn't call her," Jackson said in a bid to reassure himself. He really couldn't bring himself to believe that Jasmine left because of him.
"Also, I wasn't happy to cut off contact with her but I had no choice but to do this because I didn't want her to get more worried. I wanted to resolve everything and come back to her so she won't have anything to worry...,"
"All she needed was to hear your voice. She desperately wanted to hear you say you trust her but you didn't say anything. Instead of helping her, your silence did her more harm. Honestly, I was mad at you because of this. It broke my heart to see my best friend sad," Catherine said in an emotional tone.
"I know I really messed up but I think there is more to why Jasmine left. Lilian told me some minutes ago that Jane dropped by at the house yesterday so I am sure she must have a hand in why Jasmine left....,"
"Jane visited Jasmine? I don't recall Jasmine telling me anything about that when I visited twice yesterday. I now understand why she looked so downcast when I visited yesterday," Catherine on recalling the state she met Jasmine when she visited during lunch break yesterday said.
"Did she say anything weird to you when you visited her yesterday? We might get a clue to why she...,"
"She asked me the extent I would go to save the man I love. I recall finding this question suspicious but you know how she is. She brushed off the question without giving me an honest answer," Catherine relayed what she recall to Jackson.
"I guess her question has something to do with why she left. Anyways, I will discover what this is all about when I meet up with Jane," Jackson said as he approached the exit.
"Jane is sinister, she would never tell you the truth even though she knows why Jasmine left. In fact, she might use this opportunity to cause a rift between the two of you..,"
"With the mood, I am in, she wouldn't dare to utter a lie. I won't let her do that. Also, for what my mum did I will take care of that," Jackson assured.
"Because the situation at the company isn't stabilised I can't take the day off to join you guys for the search but I will try to catch up on the progress by calling you and the others," Catherine replied. He disconnected the call after hearing Catherine's reply.
After confirming from Max that Jane took the day off, Jackson called her. He asked her to meet him after giving her the location.
Jackson previously sitting on a brown bench in front of a river stood up and pace about after checking his wristwatch. He was too anxious to enjoy the quiet atmosphere around the vicinity.
"What's taking her so long?" Jackson muttered as he stare at the pathway to check whether Jane was there but unfortunately she wasn't there.
About two minutes later, footsteps approaching his direction attracted his attention. Without wasting time he turned to face where the footsteps were coming from.
Behold he saw a gorgeously dressed Jane. The way she was all dressed up in a white dress was as if she was going out on her first date.
"Hi, Jack what do you think of my outfit?" Jane asked with smiles as though she and Jackson were ever on good terms that they could talk like friends.
Seeing how she was looking her best after what Jane did, his anger rose to the peak.
"I am not here to play games with you but I am here for serious business," Jackson said in a serious tone.
