"Aaaah! Get away from me!" shouts Jordan, the kid. He's wearing a set of white robes, with red edges. The interplanetary symbol of the low-offense healer. Jordan is unarmed, and only about ten years old. He's also panicking, but fortunately, does not have instincts for punching. As he cowers, Raucous locks the carriage door and flattens himself down on the bench seat.
Jordan finally starts getting control of himself as the bird flattens himself on the seat, head down. If attacked he'll die, but hopefully the kid is more curious than scared. Admittedly, it would be easier if Raucous wasn't covered in blood. On the plus side, the kid did see the bird do nothing but eat and talk and not get attacked.
"Please don't hurt me" the bird says, quietly. "I just want to play a trick on them."
Jordan finally has his fists up, but responds with a flat what instead of attacking. At this point, the guards outside are starting to bang on the carriage, trying to force their way in.
"I'll let them know you're stuck out here. So you can get help. Just.. shout like you're fighting, and shake the carriage a little."
There's another flat what at this point.
"You'll be the big hero. Shout and shake the carriage like you're beating me up. Then you can just pick me up by the throat and show me to the guys outside. But gently. It'll be awesome."
Finally, as there's another bang! from the side of the carriage, the kid smiles in understanding. And then starts shouting. "I got it! I got it! It went down!"
"Yes, just.. let me go outside and I'll scare the hell out of them. Get me in their face and then let me go."
Jordan begins banging on the floor, stomping a couple times. "I got the monster! I got the monster!"
Lucille shouts from outside. "Unlock the door! Let us in!"
The kid stops and hesitates for a minute.
Raucous says, quietly again. "Say you're coming out, you've got me. And pick me up." Jordan does the same, picking up Raucous by the neck. It hurts. Being picked up gently by a child who is a healer is very dangerous. The reincarnation person wasn't kidding when he said this body was weak.
"I'm coming out! I'm coming out! Don't attack, I'm coming out!" Jordan shuffles over to the door, and begins fiddling with the lock, one handed. The sounds from outside die down at this point. A moment later, the door is pushed open, revealing the sunlight from outside and the three armed soldiers. They're all back up on their feet, although all of them look very tired. Apparently healing doesn't completely replace rest.
"I got it! I got it!" shouts Jordan again. "Look at it! I got it with my very own hands!" Raucous takes a little more damage, as his body is being waved around a bit too quickly. This was not a smart plan, even if it works. He's just too vulnerable.
"You did good, Jordan." "Hey, alright!" "Well done." The trio sound off, cheering on their healer. Zidan gives a slap in the back that stumbles the kid forward. Lucille looks somewhat warier.
"Look, I got it!" says Jordan once more, stepping forward and opening his hand around the bird's neck... who promptly slides to the ground, like a dart. Raucous ends up in a pile of black feathers, head tilted crazily, gasping for air on the ground.
"Oh damn! Damn!" says Jordan, diving to the ground after a brief moment. Green light flares up as he hits the bird with a healing spell. Raucous's neck is straightened and the limbs tighten up into a sane configuration once more. Raucous gives a croak and then bolts upwards, off the ground, straight away from the crew, flapping madly and making for the skies.
"What the hell was that?" is the last thing the bird hears, as he flees the scene.
Well, that was stupid. I need to be a whole lot more careful. I need to remember that these people can kill me by accident. I'll never be able to fight them, but it's an entirely different situation when someone hitting me with a door can kill me.
