In the palace, Vivian Raphin found it difficult to keep up with the changing trends.

“So, you’re saying Iris, the soul of Iris Elaine, is inside the Queen’s body?”

“Why can’t you understand my words?”

Elaine grew angry. Vivian remembered Elaine. As the owner of Matop, he was not only a professor in advanced courses but also someone who roughly taught and favored only talented students.

“Ordinary magicians are not even humans, right?”

Vivian would always say that although she herself was closer to being an extraordinary magician than an ordinary one, she always felt inferior in front of that professor.

And it was still the same now.

No, Professor, I don’t understand what you mean. I’ll just live in ignorance.

If she asked for an explanation one more time, it felt like the king would chop off her head with the flaming teslarosa. Not everything in the world has to be understood. She decided to think that way.

“Anyway, if the soul inside her is Iris Elaine, I roughly understand. Right now, I…uh, I mean…”

So, what? What? What?!

The two men wore expressions as if the world were collapsing. And Vivian could predict well enough that what she would say next would sound like heavenly music to one man and a scream from hell to the other. That level of perceptiveness was what allowed her to make a living in the palace.

Well, I don’t really want to sympathize with them. I always hated that professor anyway.

Hmph, Vivian muttered silently.

“The Queen is preparing to become a mother.”

“What?”

The two men’s eyes widened. Vivian shrugged her shoulders.

“In short, she is  pregnant. As you know, a magician’s pregnancy occurs in a slightly different way. First, the fusion takes place, and then the uterus, which was insignificant, becomes stronger to prepare for raising the child.”

Thud.

Elaine collapsed to the floor.

Goodness. Pregnant? Iris, pregnant? No matter how clueless I raised you as an ignorant child, could it be that you didn’t even practice contraception? Just like that? In such a short time to become pregnant? Despite knowing that the magic would be corrupted,

Suddenly, Elaine realized that he had never given Iris any sexual education. Iris didn’t know anything. Even when she looked at a book babbling like a dog, she knew nothing to the extent that it was astonishing. There was no way Iris could properly practice contraception. Contraception was not something that could be done just by saying,

“You should use contraception.”

It required specific education. And he had abandoned Iris at the very moment he should have given her that education!

And the price struck the back of his head so quickly!

“Pregnant? Iris is pregnant?”

Sidrain was equally surprised. Amidst his astonishment, Vivian’s predicted explosion reverberated in his mind.

However, Vivian spoke nonchalantly.

“Yes, Your Highness. Pregnancy poses a significant burden for a sorceress. Intense physical exertion and even severe mental trauma should be avoided. The distortion of magic occurs differently for each sorcerer, to be honest. Some experience prolonged sleep, while others wander like lunatics or are driven by a murderous intent that seeks blood. I cannot say for certain how Iris Elaine’s manifestation will unfold, but generally, her magic will undergo a severe strain, and–”

A rough grip on Vivian’s forearm interrupted her words, and she screamed. However, Sidrain saw nothing before him. He had forgotten that the figure in front of him was a woman. He gazed down at the only doctor present with eyes that pleaded for answers.

“Could she die?”

Vivian momentarily couldn’t respond. But then, Sidrain urgently shouted.

“A possibility of death!”

“Yes, Your Highness.”

The answer came from Elaine, who sat on the floor. He stood up. It was no longer surprising that his apprentice had joined the rebels and used his name. Iris was pregnant. Things had escalated while he momentarily left her.

Elaine caressed Iris’s cheek.

He had thought of her as a child. No, that wasn’t the case. She was a twenty-eight-year-old adult, and he shouldn’t have overlooked that fact.

His head throbbed.

“A possibility of death?”

Sidrain approached Elaine, his face inches away from hers. His red eyes burned with madness. No. Sidrain mumbled with his lips alone. No, it can’t be. Elaine knew very well what his mouth shape meant. It was terror.

“Childbirth always carries risks, Your Highness. It’s not just for female sorceresses. It always involves danger. If you didn’t like that, you should have used contraception from the beginning, shouldn’t you?”

Iris doesn’t know anything, but you’re not like her.

Sidrain raised his head to meet Elaine’s gaze. But soon, he realized how foolish his thoughts were. Yes, everyone had given birth. But did they all do it easily? Rosemary’s mother died giving birth to her, and what guarantee is there that Iris will survive?

Iris could die. Again?

…Again?

Sidrain’s eyes trembled. They shook like a storm-tossed ship before capsizing, and suddenly, the crimson sea held nothing. A cold silence filled his red eyes, and a royal decree fell.

“Eradicate it.”

She will likely hate this decision. She may despise him. She might even declare that she’ll never see him again, and she might lose her affection, driving her mad. But still, Iris, my child…
