“Eradicate the child. Right now.”

I can’t lose you again.

Sidrain’s voice was so low that it didn’t seem human, as if it belonged to a creature of the mountains. Has he gone mad?

Elaine stared blankly at Sidrain, who was willing to kill the core that could become his own child, even if it was nothing more than a small cluster of cells. Above all, this decision completely disregarded Iris’s free will.

I do appreciate a certain level of control, but this is going too far. How can I give my child to this lunatic?

Furrowing his brow, Elaine summoned his magic. He was ready to counter any strange actions Sidrain might attempt. After all, this child was Iris’s. It was a matter for Iris to decide, not for the king or anyone else to lay a hand on her body.

“Do you want to face me?”

Sidrain looked at Elaine with cold eyes. His hand still held the burning, dark blade, Teslarosa.

“What else is there that I can’t do, Your Highness?”

“You’ll regret it.”

“I’d rather do something than witness my daughter losing her unborn child and crying.”

“Give the unborn child a chance.”

It was a chilling moment when Sidrain sneered. Iris opened her eyes.

“Reese!”

The first person to rush to her was Sidrain. He skillfully stepped on Elaine’s foot, causing him to bend over in pain. Seizing the opportunity, he took the best position and sat down, wiping Iris’s cheek.

“Hello, my child. You’re awake.”

“Oh, I fainted? Oh, right. I’m pregnant.”

Iris casually mentioned it, causing Sidrain, Elaine, and even Vivian to widen their eyes.

What? She’s pregnant? Can you say it so easily?!

Sidrain’s hands trembled. He stared at Iris in disbelief.

“You knew?”

“Yeah. It’s my body.”

Someone has entered her body. A new entity has taken its place, and her uterus has grown. The magic is distorted. All of these sensations are apparent, but she didn’t know she was pregnant. When Iris smiled brightly, Sidrain, without realizing it, grabbed her delicate shoulders.

“You knew and kept quiet?”

I should have gotten rid of you immediately! I might have killed you!

Sidrain was about to shout like that. But Iris tilted her head curiously.

“Of course, I couldn’t just remain a silent spectator,”

Iris declared, her eyes gleaming with determination. Since discovering her pregnancy, she has been consumed by a whirlwind of activity. She dove headfirst into a treasure trove of ancient tomes, devouring every piece of knowledge that would safeguard her unborn child. From mastering the arcane arts of ensuring a safe gestation to navigating the treacherous terrain of warped magical energies, she embarked on a relentless quest for wisdom. Nights blurred into days as sleep became a distant memory, sacrificed on the altar of her tireless studies. And amidst it all, she concocted potions of untold potency, searching for the elixir that would shield her precious offspring from any harm. Curses had to be countered, their malevolent tendrils severed from the fragile bond of life. Iris found herself teetering on the precipice of exhaustion, but there was no room for surrender or retreat from her self-imposed duty.

“…I-Is that so?” Sidrain stammered, his usually confident demeanor faltering in the face of Iris’s resolute spirit.

“Naturally,” she replied with a hint of amusement, her eyes sparkling mischievously. “Preparing for the complexities of pregnancy is a realm foreign to mere mortals, my dear Sidrain. Ah, but you, not being a mage, can be forgiven for your lack of understanding.”

Sidrain felt a twinge of resentment at her playful taunt. How could she expect him, a mere mortal in matters of magic, to fathom the depths of her endeavors? The audacity of it all!

Iris’s countenance betrayed her innermost thoughts—a mixture of exhaustion, determination, and perhaps a touch of madness. Seedrain was momentarily struck speechless, his mind a tempest of conflicting emotions. But as swiftly as the storm had raged within him, a calm settled over his being. The specter of impending doom dissipated, replaced by an invigorating breeze that whispered of new beginnings, and hope.

“But what were you discussing?” Iris’s voice danced with curiosity, her lips curving into a playful smile. Elaine, however, shot Sidrain a withering glare, demanding an answer.

“Well, what were we discussing?” Sidrain pondered for a moment, his gaze fixed upon Iris’s radiant face. And then, with a flourish of audacity that matched the mightiest of mountains, he pressed his lips against her golden locks.

“We were discussing the marvel that is you, my beloved queen. Your ethereal beauty, your enchanting grace, and your regal essence.”

In that moment, the decaying masks of the onlookers crumbled, revealing their true nature. But Sidrain stood unyielding, a bastion of unwavering devotion, as if the audacity that coursed through his veins was as indomitable as the towering peaks of the mightiest mountain range.
