The alarm set for 7:30 goes off on the dot. Jing Yu groans. One hand crawls out from under the blanket, feebly groping around the bedside desk for half a day. Then, finally closing around his phone, he turns off the alarm.

Waking up might just be the most painful thing in a day. At least to Jing Yu, that is the case.

Rubbing drowsy eyes, he rises to switch on the light. Jing Yu sits on the bed with his blanket draped around him for a while, before sluggishly getting up to dress up.

Whilst brushing his teeth in the washroom, an uncontrollable smile tugs on the edges of his lips.

Today, he’ll be signing on with pg. From today onwards, he will be a member of pg, Qin Fei’s teammate!

Just thinking about it already makes him feel so jolly on the inside. There’s even a sort of delusional feeling that he’d already won the champion cup without even entering the competition.

Err, this really is a delusion.

The memory of yesterday’s practice match swiftly infiltrates his thoughts. Jing Yu sighs.

After resting overnight, the bitter feeling of that defeat has already lightened by a whole lot. It’s as if everything was just a dream.

But Jing Yu is clear about it: That wasn’t a dream. They really lost.

However, what Qin Fei said is also very true. It’s only a practice match. If he lost, then he lost. They just have to win the next time in a formal match.

Jing Yu washes his face and pumps his fist, facing the mirror — He will do his best! time they cross swords with Ane, he won’t ever lose again!

When Jing Yu arrives at pg‘s clubhouse with his luggage, it’s 8:45 — He’s early again.

This time, however, there is someone who quickly notices him:

“Little Goldfish~” Ye Hong sits on the living room’s sofa, waving at him, “C’mon in!”

“Good morning, Ye Ge.” Jing Yu pulls his luggage into the living room and appraises the surroundings, only to find Ye Hong by himself. Ye Hong is just sitting on the sofa, eating cake.

“Morning ah, Goldfish! C’mere, sit down here and join me!” Ye Hong pats the seat by his side twice.

Jing Yu says a bit awkwardly: “My luggage…”

“Oh, that’s right. I should bring you up to see your room first.” Saying this, Ye Hong quickly puts down the cake in his hand. After using a napkin to wipe them clean, he struts over to Jing Yu’s side, not giving a single word of explanation before stealing the luggage from his hands, then heading towards the stairs.

“Huan? I can do it myself!” Jing Yu wants to take the luggage back, yet doesn’t know how to do it.

Jing Yu is already halfway up the stairs: “Lower your voice. Fei Ge is still asleep ne.”

“Ah?”

“He’s the type that can’t be woken before noon.” Ye Hong explains in a soft voice, “Our rules here say we must get up before 8, get to bed before midnight. Fei Ge has never once succeeded in doing that. A few months ago, the Coach tried to drag him out of his bed but got beaten up so badly, he nearly became crippled. After that, nobody dares to disturb him anymore.”

Jing Yu: “……”

When they reach the second floor, Ye Hong still doesn’t dare to put down the luggage, opting instead to carry it with him.

The second floor has a slightly spacious hallway. With rooms on either side, various paper decors adorn those doors.

Ye Hong heads directly for a door with the few large characters, “Those who wake me Die” (“扰我睡眠者死”), pasted to it. He stops and points at the opposite room: “Right here.” Saying that, he enters it.

Jing Yu follows after Ye Hong’s footsteps. The sight of all the wooden furniture makes his eyes light up.

Closing the door, Ye Hong finally dares to put down the luggage: “From now on, this’ll be your room. Just decorate it however you like. It’s fine so long as you don’t tear down the room.”

“Okay.” Jing Yu answers, looking curiously at the door, “The one opposite me is…”

“Fei Ge ya.”

Jing Yu is caught between tears and laughter.

“Those who wake me Die”… As expected of Qin Fei.

“What about Han Ge and Luo Yiming?” Jing Yu asks again.

“Oh. Them ah. Yiming doesn’t like sweet stuffs, so Old Han went with him to buy some buns and soy milk.” With a pause, “That’s right, have you eaten yet?”

“I have. On the way here, I ate.”

“Oh. Then you organize your things ba, I’m going back to have breakfast.”

“Okay.”

Jing Yu answers, sending Ye Hong off with his gaze. Only then does he open up his luggage.

He hasn’t arrived for too long, so he doesn’t really have a sense of security. Therefore, he extracts only a couple of snacks and napkins to lay on the table, swiftly closing the luggage back up to lock it.

Plopping on the mattress and zoning out, he doesn’t know what to do, so he just heads back down to the first floor.

As he leaves, Jing Yu specially examines his door briefly. He realizes it doesn’t have a keyhole. It can only be locked from the inside.

It feels so dangerous ah…

Therefore, after arriving at the first floor, he asks apprehensively: “Ye Ge, does the doors here have no locks?”

“Are you talking about the inside or the outside?” Ye Hong has just finished his breakfast and is clearing the table. He answers with his back to Jing Yu, “The second floor’s rooms all have no locks. As for the first floor’s front door, we usually lock it up before we sleep at night. The clubhouse always has someone around anyways. Nothing will happen.”

“Okay then.” Jing Yu forces himself to accept this reply.

After a period of time, Luo Yiming and Han Leng return, bearing a bunch of random breakfast foods.

“Yo, Goldfish!” Luo Yiming is always full of ebullience, “You eaten yet?”

“I’ve eaten. Morning.” Jing Yu straightens by Ye Hong’s side, obediently replying.

“Are you full yet?” Luo Yiming then asks again.

“Err, I’m full?”

“If you’re not full, then just eat up!” Luo Yiming plops down opposite him, “Eat whatever you want! We’re all a family, don’t be so polite!”

Jing Yu: “……Ok.”

“Huan, I say, did you explode into riches overnight?” Ye Hong gazes at the table chucked full of breakfast foods somewhat helplessly, “Yesterday, you won’t even fork out five bags of la tiao. Now, you’re actually willing to buy breakfast for everyone?”

You’ve got to know, before Jing Yu came along, they all ate their own breakfasts separately.

Luo Yiming coughs: “Don’t be too concerned about the nitty-gritty!”

Han Leng sits down next to Luo Yiming, giving Ye Hong a “You know what he’s doing“-look.

In turn, Ye Hong quickly replies with a “Yes, I know what he’s doing“-look.

Luo Yiming, this little rascal. After the review session yesterday, he felt deeply repentant about his pot-throwing behavior towards Jing Yu. Yet, unable to lower his pride to apologize, he can only buy Jing Yu a table full of breakfast to make amends..

Seeing as if Jing Yu is at a total loss and totally doesn’t get Luo Yiming’s point, Ye Hong can only give a little assistance: “Goldfish, since Yiming already said that, you might as well eat a little more bei. Otherwise, it’ll be cold by lunchtime.”

“That’s right, that’s right! Goldfish, quickly eat up!” With these words still hanging from his mouth, Luo Yiming’s restless paw has already picked up a cup of soymilk. Jabbing the straw in, he shoves it right before Jing Yu’s face, just short of pressing down his head and forcing him to chug.

Jing Yu receives the soymilk, still a bit lost, but obediently says “Thank you” and takes a sip.

On the way here, he only ate a bun, so it’s true he’s not all that full.

All of a sudden, a pair of footsteps trail down from the top of the staircase. Following that, there is a sleep-laden voice: “So noisy.”

The living room instantly plunges into dead silence.

Jing Yu blinks twice uncertainly, looking at Ye Hong, then looking at Luo Yiming, then finishing it off with Han Leng. If it wasn’t Qin Fei’s voice he just heard, he would have thought the one who spoke just now is the three’s creditor.

“Yo, Jing Yu, you’re here.” Qin Fei yawns as he heads to the sofa.

Ye Hong suddenly rises to his feet, walking towards the washroom.

Qin Fei shoots him a glance. Without saying a thing, he walks over and occupies Ye Hong’s seat.

Jing Yu can only feel the sofa dipping. Then, thereafter, a breath that can only belong to Qin Fei’s fans towards him, causing Jing Yu’s mind to white out. Thankfully, he quickly snaps back to himself: “Good morning, Fei Ge!”

In truth, Jing Yu’s already putting every ounce of his efforts into suppressing himself, but the enthusiasm still easily shines through his tone.

He’s eating breakfast with Qin Fei — Heavens! He’s too lucky ba!

Qin Fei doesn’t care too much about it, picking out whatever he wants to eat from the table, unreservedly eating up.

Not long after, Ye Hong returns from the washroom. He sits by Qin Fei’s other side, wondering oddly: “Why did you wake so early today?”

Qin Fei lazily answers: “You guys are too loud.” Saying this, he glances at Luo Yiming. “It’s all Luo Yiming’s voice.”

Luo Yiming coughs: “Fei Ge, I was wrong.”

Qin Fei munches on a bun, asking vaguely: “The Coach?”

Ye Hong replies: “Already left early morn. He said he’s going to meet the manager.”

“Going to get the contract?” Qin Fei asks without thinking.

“I guess so. There could be other things they need to say in person.” Ye Hong has already eaten so he relaxes his entire body into the sofa, crossing his arms as he leisurely watches the others eat, “The Manager’s been quite busy lately. She can’t drop by, so she’s been getting the coach to do it on her behalf.”

“Ai…” Han Leng lets out a long sigh, “It’s the n-th day since Manager stopped coming. Miss her.”

“Why? Did you fall for her?” Ye Hong teases in amusement.

“I still don’t have a girlfriend ne.” Han Leng expresses his deepest grievance, “”All day long, spending every second with you bunch of dudes. Looking up I don’t see you, looking down, you’re right there**. I’m about to get depressed, you know that? Only the Manager can patch my brittle glass kokoro.”

(**抬头不见低头见: ‘You’re always there by my side’. How romantic.)

“Ew. Disgusting.” Luo Yiming can’t bear to listen anymore.

Having paid attention up to here, Jing Yu finally realizes something: “The manager… is a girl**?”

(**Because he (他) & she (她) have the same pronunciation ‘ta’ in Chinese.)

“Yep.” The one who replied him is Han Leng, “Why? Are you interested now?”

“No.” Jing Yu says uncaringly.

“Goldfish still doesn’t have a girlfriend ba? It’s very normal to be interested in girls!” Luo Yiming grins.

“Erm. About girls, I’m not very……” Jing Yu only half finishes when he abruptly stops, bursting into cold sweat — He almost spilled the beans!

Thankfully, no one paid attention to his words. Han Leng begins listing every attractive trait about the manager without concern for his image; Luo Yiming expresses that he still likes a girl who is younger than him; Ye Hong laughingly jokes — without anyone else around, the Coach might just be hitting on the Manager right now.

Jing Yu releases his bated breath and carries on sipping on his soy-milk.

Yet, he fails to notice– Qin Fei, who has been sitting by his side, has suddenly turned his head to glance at him thoughtfully.

Translator Notes: I didn’t think much of it when I had my text-to-audio read it, but now that I’m reading the lines carefully, when Ye Hong suddenly stood up to leave……

…Was he about to pee his pants?
