Regret sinks in immediately after he sent “Fei Ge, My Hubby”.

What he really thought in his heart was: “Fei Ge, My God!” Yet, as a game anchor, he got brainwashed by all kinds of “Goldfish, my Hubby” comments daily, so he just…

Although he quickly added a line to rectify the situation, Jing Yu’s heart is still in a total mess.

When no reply has come from the other for some time, he waveringly adds:

Gold Fish not Salted Fish: Sorry, I was too emotional just now. Can you please don’t tell Fei Ge?

Gold Fish not Salted Fish: Though I still want his autograph!

asdf: ……

Qin Fei covers his face, not knowing what he should say in this situation.

‘Excuse me, I am that Hubby of yours… Pei!** I am Qin Fei.’

(**Pei 呸: QF’s spitting in disgust at himself for calling himself GF’s ‘Hubby’ XD; similar to ‘Pweh!’)

— Nope. Nah. Never. He absolutely can’t give this kind of reply. Before he fully lures this comrade over to his side, it’s best if he doesn’t reveal his identity first. Otherwise, he really can’t use this side account again.

‘Autographing is impossible. This whole lifetime, it’s impossible.’

— Also can’t. If this reply is sent out and it triggers the other, it won’t just be a teammate that is lost, but alas, pg’s future.

So what exactly should he reply?

Qin Fei pauses to carefully consider: “There’s one.”

asdf: Autographs and whatnot, you can personally ask Fei Ge for them when you get to pg.

Gold Fish not Salted Fish: Okay.

asdf: You mind if I ask a few questions?

Jing Yu hesitates.

Having seen ‘pg’, this reply, all rationality fled him instantly, leaving his head full of nothing but thoughts of receiving Fei Ge’s autograph. However, seeing as if it isn’t coming to his hands easily, Jing Yu’s IQ finally reboots and he begins to feel suspicious – Is this person really from pg? It can’t be that somebody is impersonating them ba**?

(**ba 吧: Is a Chinese way of inserting scepticism at the end. )

Just by looking at their game style alone, the four people’s quick-footed tempo indeed fits the bill for the pg-esque aggressive play. Nevertheless, Jing Yu’s not discounting the possibility of imitation.

While Jing Yu really does cherish this opportunity that has been sent to his doors, he also won’t be foolishly led around by the nose.

As such, his subsequent reply becomes exceedingly cautious.

Gold Fish not Salted Fish: You are a member of pg?

asdf: En**.

(**En 嗯: Mmn.)

Gold Fish not Salted Fish: Can you prove it?

Qin Fei deliberates and turns on the neighbouring computer. Logging into his primary account, he casually kicks a friend out of the maxed friend list before searching for “Gold Fish not Salted Fish” this id. He clicks to send this comrade a friend request.

Having received a friend request, the moment Jing Yu’s gaze lands upon “pg-Sleep” this id, his hands tremble as he clicks to accept. He is then unable to come back for a good half of the day.

– Until asdf sends another message:

asdf: I got Fei Ge to add you. Look at the rank. It’s him in person.

pg-Sleep logged off after sending the friend request, but Jing Yu remains suspended in a state of disbelief as he clicks into this id’s stats page. The id’s sparkling gold badge nearly blinds his titanium alloy dog eyes with its brilliance**.

(**钛合金狗眼: So bright that even his eyes lit up. Eg:)

Then, looking at the win rate again — 69%. It outstrips his 57% by a full 12%.

It shouldn’t even be mentioned, but pg-Sleeps’ number of matches outnumbers his by several times. His golden win rate bears a totally different weight from his.

It’s The God!!! In person!

Gold Fish not Salted Fish: OH MY GOD THE GOD ADDED MWE REEEE!!!**

(**我的妈呀nanshen加窝reee!!!– In Chinese, we typically use the Phonics system to carve out the sound before selecting the right character. In this case, GF doesn’t check his characters before sending over. )

asdf: ?

asdf: So stimulated, you lost all ability to type?

Gold Fish not Salted Fish: Let me join the team ba, Da Lao**! I’m fine with playing any position! I’ll use any demon!

(**Da Lao 大佬: Boss: Typically used in Gangs XD)

asdf: ……

asdf: Xiong Di**, calm down.

(**Xiong Di 兄弟: Brother)

Facts have been proven that no matter how persistent one is, one can do nothing but roll over at the God’s feet.

Nevertheless, Jing Yu is also only saying this to express his adoration towards Qin Fei. He still wishes to use his most cherished demon to enter the PGL.

Hence, Jing Yu calms himself down very quickly.

Gold Fish not Salted Fish: Da Lao, what did you want to ask just now? Ask away!

asdf: Okay.

asdf: Firstly, what is your gender and age?

Gold Fish not Salted Fish: Male, 20 yo. I’m just like Fei Ge. We’re both people from S-City!

Qin Fei internally releases a sigh of relief. Based off the other’s tone, he still thought he’s a girl. It’s not that they can’t accept female gamers, but to live under the same roof as a bunch of men, it’s not too convenient in many ways.

asdf: You only play the jungler?

Gold Fish not Salted Fish: En, that’s about right.

Gold Fish not Salted Fish: As for solo-laning… I can practice for it.

asdf: No need.

“En?” Jing Yu lets out a confused noise. Isn’t pg lacking a solo-laner? They can’t possibly be opening a second team and want him to be that team’s jungler ba?

He still hasn’t got the chance to clarify when he sees the next question.

asdf: What do you normally use when playing the jungler?

Gold Fish not Salted Fish: Mainly Frozen Heart, but also, Moonshadow Spider and Mandala Petals.

asdf: You select your demons based on their appearance ah?

Gold Fish not Salted Fish: Huan Hei! So you found out.

asdf: Moreover, they’re all the unpopular ones. You know how to use the more common demons?

Gold Fish not Salted Fish: You mean like Burial Sword? I do.

asdf: By that, you mean?

Gold Fish not Salted Fish: My Burial Sword is smooth as heck.

asdf: ……

Gold Fish not Salted Fish: But my Frozen Heart is even smoother.

Okay. Qin Fei more or less gets it. This is a jungler who is extremely confident in himself.

He just wants to see for himself whether this person is really that smooth.

asdf: Solo one round?

asdf: Both sides use Burial Sword.

Gold Fish not Salted Fish: Sure thing.

Actually, at this moment, Jing Yu is already a little sleepy. However, whenever he thinks about having the chance to brush shoulders with Qin Fei in the future, the excitement inside him boils up till he doesn’t know what to do.

Solo then solo bei**? With both parties using Burial Sword, neither side has an unfair advantage over the other. There can’t be any better conditions for testing his skills.

(**bei 呗: To casually express apathy. Like a ‘so what?’ kind of feeling)

Thus, at top speed, Jing Yu receives asdf’s request for a solo match and accepts.

Both parties select Burial Sword. After adjusting their equipment, they click to enter the battlefield.

Burial Sword can play the jungler but can also do solo-laning.

Since this is a solo match, neither side bothers to strategize, simply deciding to meet in the mid-lane.

Jing Yu leads his Burial Sword to his tower in the mid-lane. Before long, asdf’s Burial Sword comes within view.

The opening portion is stable. Both parties individually grow their creeps* without interference. Regardless of level or gold, they match tit for tat and raise their stats together, never letting an inch’s gap come between them.

(*creeps 兵: Direct Translation in Chinese is army. However, I will use them interchangeably. The reason is because Creeps have an in-game meaning of system-controlled soldiers who fight to protect your turf. The player doesn’t have to actively give directions.)

In time, both parties hit Lv. 6 and acquire their Ultimate*.

(*Ultimate: Reminder that every character here has only one ultimate move.)

And then, asdf’s Burial Sword makes the first move. He wields the 40 metre long sword in his hand, charging towards Jing Yu’s Burial Sword.

Jing Yu decisively swipes out his Flash. Yet, he doesn’t head towards the enemy’s tower but instead rushes in the direction asdf’s coming from.

After Flash, he follows with his Attack ability post haste, planning to beat asdf senseless till he’s incapable of lifting a finger to retaliate. Yet, he didn’t expect asdf to also spontaneously use his own Flash. Reappearing behind Jing Yu, he dodges Jing Yu’s attack whilst simultaneously activating his own 1st ability.

Jing Yu hastily uses Defend to ward off asdf’s attack damages, then auto-attacks*.

(*auto-attack = a setting where you don’t have to click every time your character is ready to attack. It is capable of attacking by itself whenever there’s a chance.)

asdf neither hides nor dodges. Both parties openly engage in a blatant exchange of auto-attacks.

At this moment, asdf’s Burial Sword’s blood bar is clearly lower than Jing Yu’s. Regardless, be it Qin Fei or Jing Yu, neither dares to relax by a fraction even for an instant. That’s because they both know — the opponent’s Flash and Heal have not been used yet! Both sides still have their Ultimate remaining!

The same type of demon, the same level and gold; even their equipment is more or less the same.

In order to win this battle, it all boils down to both parties’ ability to strategize.

Jing Yu has his eyes peeled, focusing single-mindedly on the computer screen for fear of overlooking a single detail.

He roughly estimates asdf’s health level and the damage inflicted to asdf. Then, at a suitable time, he opens attack with his Ultimate!

Simultaneously, asdf brings out his Defend.

“Fuck!” Jing Yu can’t resist a shocked yelp. To think the other would use Defend at this timing!

Even though he only fended off a fraction of the attack’s damages, it was still enough for asdf to survive.

Naturally, after Jing Yu’s Ultimate is depleted, asdf’s Burial Sword who is left with a thin slice of blood unhesitatingly opens his Ult*.

(*Ult = Ultimate = Ultimate Technique)

Jing Yu eats a whole Ultimate to the face, hastily forks out Heal, then glancing at asdf who is still frozen after using his Ult, uses Flash!

He was intending to use the newly refreshed Flash to finish off whatever drops of blood asdf has left, but he didn’t expect asdf to follow up his Ult with a Flash.

Jing Yu is just about to give chase when asdf Flashes back in his face, giving him an auto-kill.

【System】Burial Sword, First Kill!

【System】Your team Burial Sword has been killed!

Jing Yu is dumbstruck for a second before he finally realizes what just happened — Flashing away then Flashing back, what kind of dirty play is this?

So the first Flash was used to dodge his Flash?

Then, in that last instant, he should also have used Flash to dodge Flash……

But then again, under a situation where one’s left with a thin sliver of blood and has successfully escaped, who would still think of turning around to take down the enemy’s head ah?!

【Enemy】asdf (Burial sword) : Your Burial Sword is smooth?

【Team】Gold Fish not Salted Fish (Burial Sword) : First sending you a head. I’m afraid you’d be too hard on the eyes after losing.

“Yo, still knows how to trash talk ah?” Qin Fei softly chuckles.

【Enemy】asdf (Burial Sword) : Come. Let me see when you can make me play seriously.

【Team】Gold Fish not Salted Fish (Burial Sword) : I’m coming.

Jing Yu leads his newly revived Burial Sword towards the first tower. Along the way, he glances at both parties’ gold. As expected, the death just now has cost him too much losses. Even his level has taken a hit.

Jing Yu creases his brows, not daring to fool around anymore. He shirks off to the base of his turret, stingily farming his creeps.

【Enemy】asdf (Burial Sword) : If you’ve got the ability to farm your creeps, you’ve got the ability to leave your turret ah.

【Team】Gold Fish not Salted Fish (Burial Sword) : Huan Hei! I refuse. Why don’t you come beat me up~?

Qin Fei dons a face full of black lines — Why does he suddenly feel… this guy’s so sassy?

Hence, Qin Fei really just controls his own Burial Sword to plough into Jing Yu’s turret, dealing out his Ultimate!

Jing Yu’s Heal has already been used and is still cooling down. Initially, he intended to press “E” to activate his Defend. Then, he ends up pressing too late and gobbling another Ultimate whole.

Pressing “E” after eating the ultimate technique no longer has any meaning. So, he presses ‘Q’, wanting to pair up with the tower defence to press this suicidal bastard to death.

Yet, the other draws out his Defend precisely at this moment, collectively fending off all damages from both Jing Yu’s techniques and the tower defence system.

The moment Defend breaks, Jing Yu and asdf simultaneously activate Flash.

One chases while the other escapes. The distance between them remains that same distance.

Subsequently, asdf forks out an attack and Jing Yu defends.

That layer of blood also still remains that same layer of blood.

“You’re too difficult to gank!” Jing Yu furiously screeches whilst activating Flash. Only, this time, it’s to asdf’s back.

(*Gank (v): Gaming term for chasing down an enemy to finish them off)

In the next second, asdf’s Burial Sword’s auto misses. Jing Yu’s Burial Sword Ults, sacrificing an Ultimate to take down asdf’s head.

They tie with a score of 1 : 1!
