Dyne had the luxury of trying to absorb the energies of the Gimard. Dyne’s skill in absorbing the energy and providing balance to make the wicked clean but, at the same time, left a portion of the Mist to remain inside. Dyne also began to channel his soul.

Grim had reverted to his Gimard form and was accepting the soul that Dyne was sending.

Strafe gazed in envy as Dyne did that. The intelligence of Grim was growing and growing.

“Just how is he doing that?” Strafe mumbled. This process wasn’t something that would work. Soul Inkling was something that had a very low chance. Strafe initially thought that Dyne got lucky. But the second time he was successful in doing it, he was now suspicious.

But now, the third time that Dyne was channeling the soul of the dying Gimard was still imparting sentience and knowledge to Grim. And what was curious was that although Dyne had relied on his Imaginarium Arts to remind the soul of its memories, it shouldn’t still allow Soul Inkling at such a shocking success rate.

Strafe frowned and had no choice. Every time he would use a certain level of his powers, it would weaken him and even cause him to lose his lifespan. But now, he had no choice. There was a mystery circulating around Dyne.

Strafe released his powers and peered deeper into the process of how Dyne would change the soul of the Gimard.

And there he saw it.

The changes that were happening were drastic. Using this vision technique, Strafe was able to determine the actual cause of how Dyne could convert the soul of the Gimard.

“Lucky bastard!” Strafe cursed.

“No wonder! So that’s their advantage! How interesting. Could it be that only he could be capable of that? I wonder…” Strafe continued to mutter, but an anticipating expression surfaced on his face.

“I may have lost a few days, but it was worth it. Dyne needs to know this to grow.” Strafe smiled.

As for Dyne, he was consistently communing and sending the soul towards Grim. The once painful and scorching process of absorbing was now something soothing as he did it. As he was getting used to the process, there wasn’t much pain anymore. In fact, Dyne felt as if he was slowly healing.

Grim’s form was now more robust and had a heavier shade of red. Although compared to the color of the Level 2 Gimard, Grim was still dominantly black.

Dyne finished with the first and went immediately to doing the process on the second one.

At the end of it, Grim could clearly be seen as red. When about half of the soul was absorbed by Grim, Dyne noticed that the Soul energy no longer communed with Grim. Dyne guessed it was the limit and began to absorb and use the soul to enhance his own body.

After absorbing every trace, Dyne could only smile and look at Grim.

“I guess you’re officially Level 2?” Dyne guessed.

The Gimard nodded, which surprised Dyne.

“Oh! You can finally understand me! It looks like your soul is complete. I guess all you have to do now is cultivate it and grow stronger!” Dyne smiled.

“Strange. Why have I recovered?” Dyne was amazed at the current progress.

Immediately, Dyne glanced back at the battlefield.

“Alright, Level 2 Grim… Be sure to protect me!” Dyne laughed.

Grim nodded and reverted to scythe form.

Dyne took it and ran back to the back of the battlefield.

Nearly fifty monsters were lying dead. Only two Zenoirs were left, and the other Serus had vanished. Dyne had guessed that they died, and their souls dispersed.

Dyne had run to the back and began to gather more gold and even tried to absorb their experience. He had been dividing the acquired life energy between him and Grim.

Dyne had to even lay down on the ground at some point and used the dead bodies to hide him as he continued to absorb.

The battle was drawing to a close. The Zenoirs were out of mana from overusing the various flame attacks that charred many.

Soon, a very insidious sensation appeared.

Dyne felt stiff, as if he couldn’t move. Even Grim was trembling at the sensation of what they felt.

“The Basilisk.” Dyne realized what it was.

Most of the Ostrich and the Frogs began to scatter and flee as it appeared.

Dyne dared not look at it in fear of being petrified. He glanced towards the two Zenoirs who were standing. Dyne realized that these Zenoirs were also trembling.

“So even the Zenoirs are afraid of it… Is it as strong as Zeto then?” Dyne had the chance to roughly gauged the strength of the enemy. It was so strong that even the Zenoirs was trembling at the sight of it. It seems that the madness of the Mist could not take away the fear that these creatures feel.

The Zenoirs were slowly backing away.

Dyne could hear a strange whisper. It was as if several voices began to hiss together in different tones.

Dyne was mesmerized at the voice and began to cultivate his soul.

As the voice whispered, Dyne felt a sharp pain in his body as he could feel his soul being attacked.

Dyne glanced at his right hand and was surprised to see that it was slowly turning into stone.

Dyne panicked and summoned his soul to fight back the mysterious sounds that were affecting him.

“Dyne! You better escape! Only someone who wields a Ra-Seru can combat its soul attack!” Strafe’s voice echoed in Dyne’s head. It was the first time that Strafe actually warned Dyne.

Dyne was about to escape when he suddenly felt a strange resonance within him.

“Wait… What’s going on?” Dyne was startled. He could sense that a sudden rejoicing was occurring within his soul. The part of the soul that was being petrified was somewhat urging him for more.

Here was a mystery that only a few could comprehend. It was as if Dyne knew what to do. Ever since his rebirth, it had been apparent. He wasn’t a normal person. He had a knack for Soul Cultivation. In fact, he was a prodigy. And he was a Prodigy that was even tens of times better than Strafe. Even Strafe wouldn’t know what to do in that scenario and how to maximize it. But for Dyne, it was as if a musical prodigy could hear the music entering his soul.

He held out his hand and touched Grim. With that, he ordered Grim to send his firey and burning soul within Dyne.

And Grim complied.

Earth and Fire clashed and battled within Dyne’s soul.

“No! Stop! You’d damage your soul!” Strafe warned as he saw it. Recklessly clashing two separate energies inside one's soul could create grave damages to it. This could have endangered Dyne and even made him dumb, as the impact on his soul would affect his state of mind.

But the calling of the elements and his soul was so strong that it was as if Dyne simply knew what to do.

He focused on his soul and used the Imaginarium Arts to call on the life energy within him. Strafe had not explained it yet. Dyne didn’t know that this was the case. But the power that Dyne had time and time revealed was actually the element of Holy. Aided by the Imaginarium Arts, the souls rejoiced in great bliss, forming the element.

Three elements appeared in Dyne’s soul. These were the necessary elements needed to awaken it. And while having all of this wasn’t a guarantee to awaken it, for the prodigy that was Dyne, it was more than enough.

One-part of Earth was neutral. Another part Holy, the purest of all the Elements, and one-part fire, which was next in terms of purity.

The balance at that moment was also perfect. The Basilisk powers of petrification continued to pour out. Grim constantly sent his fire energy and Dyne’s usage of the Imaginarium arts, which gave birth to Holy. Instead of the three elements clashing, it began to seep into Dyne’s soul.

The soul began to devour the three present elements greedily and absorbed all of them.

“Elemental Soul Seed!” Strafe was stunned to see it. One of the secret reasons why Strafe decided to use Legaia was to use the powers of the Serus to create an Elemental Soul Seed. By bonding with a Ra-Seru, it may give Dyne the chance to create his own. If Dyne acquired the various Ra-Serus at the end of the game, regardless of what Element Dyne’s soul was, it would give him a huge advantage to form it.

But once more, Dyne had proven Strafe wrong and achieved a miracle that Strafe expected to only be possible near the end of the game. And what was even more miraculous, Dyne had managed to form an elemental seed which was the hardest to form.

Dyne is once more set apart from the rest of Legaia. Only Serus and Ra-Serus had the ability to wield the elements. Monsters like the Basilisk could only do so because they were crafted that way. And an abhorrent combination of Seru and monster. But now, Dyne could fully wield elements just as Serus and Ra-Serus could.
