Chapter 51

He who prevents does not regret

"...That was Japanese?"

What did he say?

It's not like I didn't consider the possibility, or rather, I didn't want to believe it, but the demon general... Is he like me and Ryuuji? A TLO player.

I could see how he was trying unsuccessfully to communicate with Ryuuji. Despite recognizing Japanese, he does not understand it. It's reasonable. Even if he had a translation skill like mine, it doesn't seem to work with an otherworldly language. To tell you the truth, I don't think mine does either, I was just lucky that Ryuuji spoke Japanese and not some other language I don't know.

This... It's a golden opportunity. Dangerous as he is, The General is now an unprecedented source of information. Not only is he the most dangerous general in Iren, but he is also another TLO player. I must extract all the information I can from him.

Of course, I don't plan on exposing myself personally, let's leave that to Ryuuji, if anyone can stand up to that guy it's him.

It is unfortunate that the general stopped speaking after a few words. But what could be expected if his opponent didn't understand anything he said anyway. But from the little he said and the way he moves, I can learn a lot.

Something else I could notice was the difference between him and Ryuuji. It was like heaven and earth. Ryuuji made the attempt to take him down like his previous opponents, but with minimal movements the General made him look like a child fighting a dinosaur.

I knew the difference in their abilities would be abysmal, but this. Even if he could resist that attack with the strength of his arm and the resistance of his armor. How did he avoid being displaced?

Ryuuji's attack had that immense force behind it, even if the general wasn't affected, the ground he stands on is just gravel, it should have given way, however neither move an inch. I can hardly imagine how he was able to do that.

Ryuuji's speed was also surpassed in a heartbeat. To top it off, after a moment where you could believe he was merciful, he showed cruelty and disregard for Ryuuji's life. Apparently he is like the Irenites, he only had mercy to give him a chance to fight seriously and judging him a small fry, he lost interest.

I could notice more things, but Ryuuji's time was running out. Still, every second I watch him I get valuable information, how much more can Ryuuji take?

"Search Report".

"Sir! Based on our own proximity to the north gate, and seeing as there have been no reports of incidents. The search should be within a kilometer of the south gate, a kilometer and a half from the east gate. Apparently still unsuccessful. Sir!"

"Cut off his head and continue the search."

"I won't let you!"

To everyone's surprise, Albert had risen to his feet, and holding Ryuuji's sword, he placed himself between him and the Acme soldier who was about to behead him.

Well, that matters little to me, although it is good to have a little more time. It appears that soldiers in other areas of the city have almost reached the place I prepared this morning as a contingency for the rebel incident. If I wait any longer they might discover my Ace up my sleeve. It will be better to do it at once.

"AAGGH!!"

"A futile effort. But I suppose you have earned death, I will end your pain, out of respect for the ant."

Fuck! It was only an instant, Ryuuji got up and threw himself in front of the general's sword to protect Albert. Don't shit me! I was about to execute my plan, don't die in front of my eyes!

KABOOOM!!

It worked!

I was afraid he might decide to leave it to his men, but I was right in predicting the general's pattern of thought. After all, he certainly seems like someone who doesn't mess around. He believes this was an enemy attack and plans to personally confront them.

He moved at great speed and his men followed him. Interestingly, even the soldier Ryuuji knocked down got up and left with the rest. Hey, Garonte was severely injured and even now I think he's covered in bandages, but that guy got up after a short time and also moves perfectly. I can't be sure, but for that to be possible, he must have done something to cushion the blow, right? These Iren guys are fucking monsters, even when they're outmatched...

As soon as the soldiers got far enough away, I ran towards Ryuuji, I couldn't let such a valuable resource die.

◆◇◆◇

As we walked away from Garush, I could feel my racing heart slow down. We were far enough away to not feel the tremors caused by the general.

As night fell, we had to camp, at that time, I informed everyone on how to proceed.

Thanks to the maps I bought as soon as we arrived in Garush, I knew that the city of Kashmir was a couple of days away at a person's pace, but this crowd would probably take longer.

But by the next day we would come to a crossroads, and my plan was to continue north, deeper into Jagheb.

That crossroads would be of vital importance, since it would be the moment for all these people who follow me to decide whether to go with me or take their own path.

Of course, being understanding, I told everyone to think about it tonight and have their decision ready in the morning, by the time we get to the crossroads.

I had no doubt that the people of Galatea would choose to leave me and go to Kashmir, where the slaves freed by the rebels are supposed to have gone. Albert and Selia would be there if it weren't for the fact that she was poisoned.

As for the inhabitants of Garush. While any path would be better than the life they had, on the one hand there was the unknown destination I was heading to, which would also involve several days of walking. On the other hand, a city that they knew was prosperous and was only a couple days away.

The most logical decision was obvious, but just in case, I instructed Ren to exercise the hypnotic influence at night that if they distrusted me in the slightest, they should follow the safest path and go to Kashmir. After all, if anyone decides to stay, it better be someone who won't cause me any trouble.

In cases like this Ren is extremely useful. And not just her, now that we're away from Garush, Gara'kat's harp is keeping a close eye on me again. If there is any danger I will be able to flee with his help.

To begin with, is not that he takes care of me because of his great dedication to me. He keeps an eye on me and Ren, who I can depend on to escape from almost any situation, since I always have her close to me.

One of the valuable resources I got during my stay in Galia.

And not only that, but also the star resource of this occasion. Coming back for its second big hit, I mean the explosive stuff I got at the academy.

The general and his men can suspect a magical raiding party all they want, but no wizard had anything to do with those explosions. They were the result of simple chemistry and a simple trick.

From the moment I found out what the rebels were planning to do, I knew I needed life insurance in case something went wrong. The first thing that came to mind was, since I wasn't directly involved anyway, that any medium or large scale distraction would work to escape.

What came to mind was obviously an explosion, just like the one at the Galia academy. If something works once with someone, there's no reason why it shouldn't work again with someone else. Maybe I wouldn't risk it if it were Jemur, but not being the case, why the hell not?

The problem, once again, is that I did not have a harp to appear and start the explosion as in the case of Galia. So I had to devise a way to cause the explosion, without anyone knowing and without help.

So I decided to turn to another star resource. My Skill
