The magical Kaise forest where Emmy currently wanders is divided into three areas: the outer perimeter, the middle layer, and the deepest part. This division was made about a thousand years ago by a famous explorer of the time, Dorantos. He explored the Kaise forest, classified it based on the distribution of magical creatures, and is said to be the first president of the Adventurer’s Guild, established under the commission of several gods. Dorantos is now revered as a god, known as the “God of Adventure” in the heavenly realm, as the voice in Emmy’s head informed her, recalling from the “Otherworldly Reincarnation Broadcast.”

The outer perimeter is where adventurers usually venture to collect materials. It’s rare for adventurers to go as far as the middle layer where Emmy stands. Even if they could hunt the creatures there, bringing back their materials to town is extremely difficult. Exploring the wilderness with a group of skilled porters is a risky and costly endeavor with little return. The deepest part is literally uncharted territory. Even Dorantos, the current God of Adventure, only explored up to the edge of the middle layer. He couldn’t explore deeper due to the dangerous creatures that appeared there. In his writings, he referred to the deepest part of the Kaise forest as “Seriously a crazy place” (quoted verbatim), effectively conveying its extreme danger to future generations. No one has ever reached the deepest part on record. The range of the “deepest part” seems narrow compared to the outer perimeter and middle layer, but its actual size is still unknown.

Now, about Emmy. She entered this wilderness for a sentimental reason uncharacteristic of a young girl: she wanted “distance from humans.” She wasn’t aiming to traverse an unexplored wilderness. It was filled with dangers. Just yesterday, the voice in her head told her she almost got killed by a monster deer called the “Kenzanjika” (though she managed to turn it into meat when the opportunity arose).

Honestly, she thought, maybe it’s time to leave the wilderness? Her daily battles had made her grow. Enough is enough.

Her aversion to humans had subsided. Now, she felt a longing for human company. She wanted to leave the wilderness and rest.

She looked down at her attire. The clothes given to her by Baron Maarts were now just rags, used as kindling for fires. The only thing left was a black, three-quarter-sleeved inner garment, supposedly woven with magic.

…Could she really be accepted back into human society dressed like this? A flicker of doubt crossed her mind, but she decided not to dwell on it.

Anyway, she decided to leave the forest. Conveniently in front of her was the Serengi Great Ravine. The voice in her head said that the Jakobe River flowing at the bottom of this ravine is one of the sources of the great river that cuts across the southwest part of the Hamajika continent where she currently stands. If she walked along this valley, she would eventually reach civilization.

“……Let’s go home.”

She turned her back on the deepest part of the forest and began to walk along the valley.

Towards the world of humans.

<<<Then, that’s boring>>>

The next moment, such a voice echoed in Emmy’s head.

It wasn’t the usual female voice she heard. It was a deep, stern male voice.

Suddenly, her surroundings darkened. Something large had blocked the sunlight, casting a shadow over her.

She instinctively looked up.

Floating there was, simply put, a winged lizard-like creature. But its size was abnormal.

It was so huge it seemed to cover the sky. Its body was painted in a night-like jet black.

…A black dragon.

Emmy’s internal voice muttered the name in stunned disbelief.

Its golden eyes, shining like stars in the night sky, were fixed directly on Emmy.
