ONE WEEK CHAPTER TEN
“If you continue like this, I promise you that the brother you keep so close to your heart would get killed”, a voice speaks in the background. It was also at this point that the sound of iron being hit by an object sounded out. We are back in the present where the adult version of Andrew could be seen laying down on a bed.
Andrew wakes up from his reverie, take a look at the wall clock in his cell, it was a few minutes away from the hour of ten in the night. He takes his eyes away from the clock and stares at the police officer who has come to disturb his sleeping time, but he doesn’t get angry and instead looks at the officer with a calm face.
The officer has a sneer filled with derision as he says, “You have a visitor”, then calmly opens the door for Andrew to come out, he doesn’t bother to even put cuffs on him as he still had some amount of connection and people who favors him.
Andrew walks slowly to meet his visitor. Although it was late at night, the prison was bright because of the proper lighting. A man probably in his forties with his suit on could be seen sitting down nervously.
Immediately he sets his sight on Andrew, he stood up and waited for him to sit down before sitting down directly opposite him. The officer stood far away from them not even willing to listen in on their discussion, although they were the only ones here at this moment.
The man sighs the moment he was back in his seat. “What is the problem?”, Andrew asks with a calm expression. “The case doesn’t look good at all”, the man says in a depressed tone.
“So I won’t be able to get out of here anytime soon?”, Andrew asks still calm about the whole situation. The person he was currently talking to has been his lawyer for a very long while now, ever since he rose to the limelight of business.
“No. The court doesn’t seem to even want you to apply for bail. This case doesn’t look good for you”, the lawyer says. Both of them keep quiet for a while, after which the lawyer asks, “Did you really do all those things?”, to which Andrew just calmly stares at his lawyer and replies with a question of his, “Do you think I committed those crimes?”.
Being on the other end, got the lawyer all feeling edgy. After a moment though he replies, “I would do all I can to make the court allow for your bail. But don’t expect too much though. I no longer have any confidence in this case”.
“It’s alright”, Andrew says and immediately gets up from his seat and walks towards the police officer, then he says, “Take me back to my cell”.
The officer was shocked that the discussion which he had expected to be long and time-consuming with Andrew shouting at his lawyer just ended this easily with not many scruples.
‘Guess he is already resigned to his fate’, the officer thought while looking down on Andrew.
Time slips forward, on the wall clock, it was just a bit past the hour of eleven still in the night. That was when something happens, bullet sounds were being heard at this moment. Next up, the alarm siren was being set off in the police station, this didn’t decrease the intensity of the shootout though as the sound of bullets being shot was still being heard nonstop.
It seems like the police station has turned into a war zone and the invaders were not afraid of the consequences of their actions, and slowly the sound of the bullets shot drew closer to the cell which Andrew was in, Andrew’s eyes were still closed without the slightest anxiety of what was going on, as if even though the heavens fell at this point, he wouldn’t be affected a single bit.
Soon a group of people came in front of Andrew’s prison cell with two police officers with them who have surrendered to their might. They didn’t even bother covering their faces, and they moved fearlessly like they were above the law.
Noticing their arrival, Andrew sat upright, his eyes going through the new entrants, then settle on the one who seems to be the leader before saying, “So it came down to this at the end”.
The person he spoke to, didn’t bother answering him though as he just rose his gun and pointed it at Andrew. “Grrrrrrrr”, the sound of bullets being fired was heard, but we go back in time again, not sure of what has happened in the cell.
The young Andrew just came out of the storeroom, he stares at the group of men with their weapons. The leading man seeing this was a bit shocked over the fact that a child was remaining in the place, but his shock didn’t last as he says in a tired tone while turning his back on Andrew, “You all should go and handle him, I am tired of having to take care of these kids. It’s like I am a babysitter now”.
The other men recover from their feelings and with sneers on their faces, one of them says, “Kid, you better drop your weapon and come with us willingly or you would end up in a worse situation than your friends”. It seems like the men were talking to the air as Andrew still stood there with his smile while staring at the people present.
Seeing that he was not responding, one of the men walks up to the boys on the floor and drags Williams out while saying, “Don’t you care if your friends live or die?”. Williams was screaming while crying, “I don’t want to die. Please Andrew do whatever he says. I want to live”. James also pitched in seeing that Andrew was unmoving by saying with a sour expression, “Are you so heartless as to let your friend be killed when you can save him?”. That was a tall talk coming from someone who has betrayed his friend formerly by walking away without him.
Andrew's smile erases on hearing that word and his head just lowers as if having resigned to his fate and was about to surrender.
"Good boy, that is it, just give up your weapon and nobody gets hurt”, another different man says with a sneer while walking towards Andrew to take his weapon.
But on his hands reaching out to the weapon, the next scene shocks everybody present as the man’s hand was cut off and before he could scream, his neck was lumped off also. The man who had threatened Andrew with Williams was shocked at this action, but he didn’t let it get to him for long as he reacts quickly by raising the weapon in his hand with a full swing to end the life of Williams. Williams on the other hand has given up seeing the weapon closing in on him, but the weapon in Andrew’s hand has already left his hands and connected with the head of the man and the weapon in the hands of the man has fallen in front of Williams and he was frightened by this with his snort and all.
The other surrounding men together with the leader seeing this action, quickly runs forward in order to deal with this nuisance in their midst. Andrew on seeing them running forward to intercept him, quickly takes the weapon in front of the dead man and runs forward to meet the people in front of him. The man who was in front of him sneers seeing Andrew come to meet him head-on, but Andrew slides all of a sudden and connects his weapon with the legs of the man. “Whoosh”, it was a clean hit as the man suddenly becomes footless, and since he had to foot, he falls forward, and coincidentally in the process of his falling, the weapon in his hands pierces through his neck. Such a gruesome death for him.
Andrew dodges to the side when the weapon of a man was coming towards him, and he slices through the stomach of the man and he falls no more deader than dead.
The two boys and the girl on seeing Andrew in action were both shocked and scared. This was the same Andrew who has always smiled with them and tried his possible best to avoid any issues. He was easily lovable and cheerful. But now, although his smile was still present on his face, he seems to be like a demon who came to devour blood not being satisfied with the little he has drawn. This wasn’t the Andrew they knew.
At this moment, Andrew has already killed two other men and gotten to the boys with two weapons in his hands like he was born to fight and fearless of what was to come. “What are you all doing looking all weak and spineless?”, he says with his tone all icy and his eyes narrowed.
“Have you resigned yourselves to die?”, he asks them once again. The boys reflexly shakes their head trying to say no albeit slowly. “Then pick up a weapon and fight. Even if your hands are cut off, then use your legs, if your legs are cut off, then use your mouth. Even if you are killed, you have to crawl back from hell and finish the fight you started. You don’t have the right to give up when I haven’t. If you dare to give up, or even think about it, I would kill both of you myself”, he completes his statement while connecting one of the weapons in his hand to one of the men coming to them.
Don’t know if his words riled them up or it made them fearful, but the boys picked up weapons close to them and ran forward to fight. Andrew just stands and stares at the girl with a disgusted look then says, “You are too weak to do anything, so just stay by the side and don’t say or do a shit”.
The fight resumes, but this time around, the boys were doing exceedingly well, although most of it was due to Andrew. Don’t know if Andrew had an eye behind his head, but he was able to help them when they were in trouble. The leader seeing all this happening moves to intercept Andrew, he has recognized the true threat in this fight.
Sneakily, like a thief, he moves slowly behind Andrew intending to strike him down swiftly, and as someone possessed, Andrew chooses the same moment to move a bit backward and thus bumps into the man which disrupts the direction of his hit and it connects with the other man whom Andrew was fighting with. His intestines and all were on the floor after he was cut. Andrew smiles on seeing this and ignores the leader and goes after another man.
The leader on noticing this tries again, and the same issue occurs, but unlike before he swings his weapon horizontally to take the head of Andrew, but as if dancing, Andrew chooses that same moment to turn around and the man Andrew was engaging had his waist lumped off. Blood has stained Andrew all over, but he doesn’t seem to care as he once again intends to move to another man. But the man who seems to be the leader with veins popping from his head grabs the weapon of the man he has just killed and quickly moves to intercept Andrew.
“Fight me, kid. What are you afraid of?”, the man screams while swinging his weapon. Andrew blocks with his weapon and uses the force to move back while the man falls forward a bit almost landing on the ground but he manages to stabilize himself with just a little movement.
Andrew after decapitating another man, flashes a smile to the man before saying, “I like you. I am going to keep you for the last”. This confession of Andrew causes the man to feel chills and go mute at the same time, not knowing what to do at this moment. He could feel that this boy was getting better in the fight as time went by. This would do him little good. He was about to move once again to intercept Andrew, but that was when police sirens sound out and he pauses in place.
He stares long at Andrew before hollering at the remaining men, “Let's move out”.
The remaining men quickly acknowledge his order and move out like they were afraid of staying there any longer. The leader starts moving a bit before stopping in place, Andrew was still smiling while watching him move away.
“I feel like we could be of use to each other. I want you in my group”, the man says. These words shock Andrew this time around. “So you can be surprised also?”, the man says before continuing, “You can bring your friends also. With me, your talents can be properly utilized”.
Andrew smiles once again before saying, “I would like to think long and hard about it”. The man doesn’t say any more words as he moves out.
Andrew after seeing them walk away quickly drops his weapon. He was exhausted from all that fighting. It took him a great deal of willpower to hang on until this point. He was tired at this point. The other boys were at a corner, although Andrew had tried his best to rescue them, they were still useless as they were about to be killed if not for the timely intervention of the police.
Andrew just stares at them for a bit, then he leaves without saying a word. The two boys stare at Andrew walking away sighting a lonely figure, nobody knows what was going on in their minds. The girl was still shocked about the way Andrew behaved towards her, she was his senior after all and Andrew was the youngest out of them all.
Time fast-forwards a bit, precisely two hours into the future. The door to the compound was open and the mother of Francis could be seen nervously walking around the compound. She immediately turns to see who the newcomer was.
It happens to be Andrew who had blood stains all over his body. This wasn’t a shock as he had just recently been involved in a fight. But what came as a shock was the fact that Andrew was currently crying. His eyes were all red from crying too much. The woman on seeing Andrew this way nearly faints as she screams, “Noooooo. It can’t be. It can’t be at all”.
