Lu AnLing's words had concluded the family meeting and in the end, everyone was shocked.
They did not know the Lu AnLing who had come to the family meeting. She was nothing like she was before and the grand majority of the family members believed that this was Kang Jun's doing.
And as much as this assessment was logical, it was not all true. Lu AnLing had always been like this but before she had simply been starved for love. She had wanted others to care about her and to notice her as their family but the her who she was back then, was not who she was today.
Lu AnLing had given up on those childish hopes and at the moment, she couldn't care less if her family members loved or hated her, but one thing was for sure, this was due to Kang Jun's presence in her life.
Walking out of the room, many relatives stared at Kang Jun and Lu AnLing who still held hands.
Most of the relatives had already left the room, and so Lu AnLing and Kang Jun allowed themselves to be more relaxed.
Lovingly, Kang Jun smiled at his wife.
"Shall we go see your mother and siblings, so I can introduce myself properly?" Kang Jun asked, completely ignoring the thought of Grandpa Lu.
Lu AnLing nodded.
The two went over to Lu Xiaoling and Xu Shen who stood with Lu Shuya and Lu Duyi.
The couple attracted attention and so, as soon as they were close to the four people, they all turned to look at them.
Seeing them, Lu Duyi frowned slightly and the boy ran over to them, closing the space. Looking between Kang Jun and Lu AnLing awkwardly, Lu Duyi said,
"Sis... can I talk to you in private?"
Lu AnLing looked at Kang Jun for a split second and after the two communicated with their eyes, Lu AnLing nodded.
Lu AnLing: "Yea. Sure."
Hearing this, Lu Duyi smiled and then he dragged the girl away.
He didn't stop until they were near the exit. Once there, Lu Duyi grabbed her left hand with both of his hands and squeezed hard before he looked Lu AnLing dead in the eyes.
"He didn't force you or blackmail you to marry him, right?" Lu Duyi asked with worry. For a small while now he wondered why Kang Jun had chosen his sister. It wasn't that she wasn't worthy of him, it was more that he could not see an opportunity for the two of them to meet. "I heard a lot of bad things about Kang Jun and his family... I don't want you to get hurt..."
Lu Duyi knew a thing or two about Kang Jun, but one thing which had always left a mark on his mind was the fact that Kang Jun was said to have become the new King of the underworld, at a young age.
Looking at Lu Duyi, Lu AnLing gave a soft smile.
Lu AnLing: "He didn't force me and he and his family aren't as scary as they seem. I love him very much."
Lu Duyi could hear Lu AnLing's sincerity. "You met is family?"
Lu AnLing nodded. "Yes. The Elder likes me very much, his brothers don't seem to have much problem with me either, though I still need to get to know his parent."
Hearing the way Lu AnLing spoke joyously, Lu Duyi was happy but sad at the same time. Lu Duyi was glad his sister had found someone she loved, even if the man was not what he had wanted for his sister but if she really loved him, Lu Duyi would not interfere in her choices.
Though he was still a bit worried. He didn't want to lose his sister.
Seeing a strange look pass through his eyes Lu AnLing came closer to him. She put her hand on his cheek and lifted his head towards her before she said, "What's wrong?"
Lu Duyi shook his head.
"Nothing. I'm happy you're happy I am..." Lu Duyi said.
Lu AnLing: "But?"
"But I'm worried about you... I don't know Kang Jun personally, and Its been years... I feel like I barely know you anymore... if something happened to you, I wouldn't know..." Lu Duyi voiced feelings which he had not had the courage to say in a while. He wanted to be with his sister and spend time with her but Lu AnLing had been avoiding the Lu family for so long that Lu Duyi had begun to feel as if they were close to strangers and he didn't want this.
Hearing the boy speak and seeing his demeanour change, Lu AnLing looked at him sadly.
The more he spoke, the more Lu AnLing's heart hurt until she couldn't handle it anymore.
Lu AnLing pulled Lu Duyi into an embrace.
"I'm sorry I made you feel that way... but Don't worry Duyi," Lu AnLing said as she held his face between her hands. "I promise we will spend more time together and no matter what, I will always be your sister."
Meanwhile, as Lu Duyi and Lu AnLing we're having a moment, Kang Jun was introducing himself to Lu AnLing's parents and Lu Shuya.
Without much care, Kang Jun bowed to Lu Xiaoling and Xu Shen, "Hello, I'm pleased to meet you. My name is Kang Jun."
Lu Xiaoling did not smile but she bowed to Kang Jun. "Thank you for taking care of my daughter. I leave her in your care from now on."
Hearing this, Kang Jun gave Lu Xiaoling a business smile.
Seeing this, Lu Xiaoling was a bit taken aback but it was not this that bothered her the most. Instead, it was the little girl whom Kang Jun held in his arms.
Lu Yuxi was sticking to the man's chest.
After looking at her, Lu Xiaoling then looked at Xu Shen with confusion. Understanding his wife's expression, Xu Shen went to Kang Jun.
"I'm so sorry about Xixi, she seems to like you very much, it's probably because you're so handsome." Xu Shen joked.
Hearing this, Lu Xiaoling and Lu Shuya went pale.
The two expected Kang Jun to frown and use his cold aura to show his distaste for Xu Shen's words but instead, Kang Jun's features softened. Though he did not smile, his face looked more relaxed than when he had.
"I like her too she reminds me of my..." Kang Jun paused. He was about to say daughter but Kang Jun could not reveal this information as of yet so he slowly said, "Niece."
"Oh really? How old is your niece? Maybe we can arrange a play date." Xu Shen said amicably.
"She's seven. And I have a nephew who is six." Kang Jun replied quickly.
As soon as he said this, Xu Shen smiled widely, "That's great! Xixi is also 7. She hadn't had many friends her age, I think it would be nice for them to hang out. What do you think?"
Kang Jun nodded. Kang Mei Xue and Kang Mingyu didn't have friends. For the longest time they had just had each other, and Kang Jun was worried about what that would do to their mental states...
Thinking about this,Kang Jun handed Xu Shen his business card. "Contact me whenever you like and we will arrange something. Maybe we could all go out to dinner too. I'm sure AnLing would like to rekindle her relationship with you."
Hearing this, Xu Shen nodded as his eyes glazed over slightly. "Of course"
Xu Shen really did think of Lu AnLing as his daughter.
Since the first day he had met her he had seen how sad and broken she was and despite the fact that he was disappointed that Lu Xiaoling had had a child before they had gotten together, Xu Shen still believed Lu AnLing to be completely innocent, and so he treated her as such.
And it did not take long for Xu Shen to get to know and love Lu AnLing.
Seeing the man's thoughts wander, Kang Jun just watched him.
Xu Shen might not have been Lu AnLing's biological father but in Kang Jun's book, Xu Shen was the only one who deserved to be the girl's father.
No matter the blood relation, no matter if his wife had hidden the girl from him, Xu Shen considered Lu AnLing as family.
