Chapter 46: New soul essence

"Kool, now I even have the wolf buff," Ben muttered, gritting his teeth in excitement as he launched towards the second target without letting the wolves get a chance to rest.
Angered by their friend's death, the wolf jumped toward Ben, attacking him with a diagonal slash. but with a swift motion of Ben's blade, the wolf paw was cut in half, leaving it streaming blood as it struggled to find balance.
Ben jumped and seized the opportunity to land a jab on the wolf's face from his right hand while he prepared a sword strike from his left hand.
Even with superhuman agility, it was tough for Ben to get accustomed to using a sword. Though it makes sense, since he never used a sword in his life, on the other hand, with soul weapons, Ben never faced any difficulty at all.
With another swing of his blade, there was a deep wound through the grey wolf's body; it fell lifeless to the ground.

Ben didn't expect this kind of attack in his wildest dreams; just a second ago, he was planning a massacre and leveling up to level 2, but now he was surrounded by wolves from all four sides while holding his ears in both his hands.

"Darn it.." Ben gritted his teeth as he looked at his falling HP. As he raised his head, he tried to take note of his surroundings and assess the problem in this situation. With no other option for escape left, Ben decided to use his long-range attack towards his enemy.
"Blood Bullet"
Ben chanted as a bullet of crimson red shot towards one of the wolves and hit its jaw, piercing through it and penetrating the body. The sheer impact of the attack was enough to throw the grey wolf on the ground, but it was still not dead yet.

With one enemy down, the formation of the group was broken, and the effect of sound waves was now much lower than before. Ben left the wounded wolf on the ground and sprinted towards the other three wolves.
Seeing their enemy breaking out of sonic waves, all three wolves jumped towards Ben, engaging in close combat (3 vs. 1). With quick thinking, Ben slid onto the ground and narrowly avoided two claw attacks towards him. Popping himself back up, he used all his strength to thrust his sword into the wolf's head.
With his strength and the inferno stringer's enhancement, the sword easily went through the wolf's head, piercing its brain and further pinning it to the ground.

"That's what you call a good kill." Ben grinned internally as he tried to pull back the sword and attack the enemy behind him, but even with his strength, the sword was somehow fixed on the ground, unable to move.
"Holy Fuck!!" Ben cursed as he saw a wolf approaching from behind. He used all his strength to shake off the sword, but it remained frozen. In the last moment of desperation, Ben let go of the sword and dodged the coming attack by jumping to his left.
But in the last second of dodging, his shoulder was scratched by the grey wolf's claw, costing him a few health points.
"Summon: Ancient Spear"
Ben's swift thinking and newfound ability to summon an ancient spear proved to be a game-changer in this dire situation. He moved with agility, stabbing the wolf and using the spear to throw the creature towards its approaching companion.
The wolf thrown by Ben crashed into its companion, causing them both to tumble to the ground. Seizing the moment, Ben threw the spear towards the wolf with all his might. While the wolves were still in mid-air, the spear went through both of them, killing them in the process.

Seeing all of his enemies killed, Ben huffed and panted as he sat on the ground. Killing all those basic-tier beasts at once wasn't an easy task for him either, but since they were lower-basic-tier beasts, Ben was somehow able to pull this off.
"One thing is clear though: I can somehow use soul weapons more efficiently than normal weapons," Ben concluded, thinking back to his battle just now, where he was struggling to swing a sword while with the spear it was an easy job.
[Indeed, Ben, that's because the soul weapon is linked directly to your subconscious mind, so you must feel like they are just another extension of your body.]
