When everything was ready, Li Xi took out a set of couple outfits from his wardrobe, including one in Duan Zhen’s size, causing Duan Zhen’s expression to change several times.

“People need to plan for the future after all,” Li Xi said confidently.

Duan Zhen didn’t know what to say. He could only ruffle Li Xi’s hair and insist on him changing into a different outfit.

This led to Li Xi sulking with a downturned mouth until the meeting began, sitting there with a cold expression, refusing to speak.

“What’s wrong with Li Xi?” Xia Qirong couldn’t help but feel curious. It was the first time he had seen Li Xi ignoring Duan Zhen like this, and they had been fine just fifteen minutes ago. Why the sudden moodiness?

Li Xi sat next to Duan Zhen, crossing his arms and pushing his chair closer to Duan Zhen’s, noticing everyone’s eyes on him. He scowled and said grumpily, “What?”

All tough and fierce, but unfortunately, except for Duan Zhen, no one dared to touch him.

Xia Qirong was eager to try reaching out, but before Li Xi could reject him, Duan Zhen shot him a disapproving look, causing Xia Qirong to retract his hand with a disappointed expression.

“Now, let’s start analyzing the intermediate world of Hewlett.” Duan Zhen cleared his throat, redirecting everyone’s attention.

He briefly described the world background and then began analyzing the difficulty of this mission.

At first glance, this mission seemed relatively easy, with no casualties. However, that was all thanks to Li Xi. Li Xi’s presence directly reduced the difficulty of this world by half. Without Li Xi, they might not have even discovered the kingdom of mermaids.

“This mission is quite tricky,” Xia Qirong exclaimed, his eyes wide. “If we followed our usual approach to missions, we’ll just dive right in. Who would have thought we’d have to sacrifice to the sea god in the end and turn humans into mermaids?”

“It appears to be a combat mission, but in reality, it requires cooperation from both sides,” Sun Le added, furrowing his brows. “Is this a characteristic of Hewlett’s missions?”

“Of course not,” Li Xi mumbled, slouching on the table. “This is a mission issued by the system.”

The system loved to create cooperative missions like this. Unlike the demon kings, who played this game for fun and didn’t consider the mission participants, the system’s ultimate goal was to provide benefits to the participants.

“Aren’t the demon kings and the system working together?” Xia Qirong asked, confused.

“Of course not,” Li Xi snapped, instantly reminded of how Clemens had used the system’s power to attack him yesterday, attempting to kill Duan Zhen. He was filled with anger. “The demon kings and the system are at odds, but the demon kings themselves don’t cooperate either.”

“This is the first time someone has said that,” Duan Zhen said, slightly furrowing his brows. “Where’s the source of this information? Is it reliable?”

“I don’t know, and I don’t want to say,” Li Xi replied, his face sour. “I’m still mad at you, so don’t talk to me.”

Duan Zhen was taken aback, but he smiled helplessly and turned to the others. “Let’s discuss the details of the mission.”

Li Xi: ?

Is no one going to comfort him?

He pouted.

Xia Qirong sensed that the atmosphere was off and gestured to Duan Zhen to look at Li Xi.

Duan Zhen ignored him.

Xia Qirong sighed, feeling exhausted. Although he now understood that Li Xi had feelings for Duan Zhen, he couldn’t do anything about it. Despite Li Xi’s intentions, Duan Zhen remained oblivious, like an iron-hearted fool.

Actually, Xia Qirong had misunderstood Duan Zhen. Duan Zhen knew exactly what Li Xi meant, but precisely because of this, he couldn’t get closer to him anymore.

Li Xi lay on the table, seemingly sulking, but in fact, his ears were perked up, secretly listening to their conversation. Seeing Duan Zhen earnestly analyzing the plot, he sat up and quietly observed him.

After Duan Zhen finished analyzing the world, he noticed Li Xi sneaking glances at him. Unable to resist, he chuckled, “What’s wrong?”

Li Xi immediately turned his head away, but after a moment, he turned back, using his body language to express, ‘Come and cheer me up.’

Duan Zhen reached out and ruffled his hair, gesturing with his eyes for the others to leave before saying, “Do you know why I didn’t let you wear that outfit?”

“Intellectually I understand, but emotionally I’m not willing,” Li Xi huffed. “You didn’t even comfort me.”

“Our current relationship…” Duan Zhen hesitated.

“Aren’t we friends now?” Li Xi widened his eyes in disbelief. “Although I haven’t caught up to you yet, we’re still friends, aren’t we?”

“Of course,” Duan Zhen quickly denied.

He didn’t even know how Li Xi had interpreted the situation to this extent. Today, he felt there was a generational gap between him and the kid.

“When a friend is angry, shouldn’t you comfort them?” Li Xi looked at him pitifully with big eyes.

Duan Zhen felt something was off, but his friends were the type to keep their emotions to themselves. Even if they experienced life and death, they would bear it silently. The way to relieve emotions was to drink together, not to deal with someone as delicate as Li Xi.

He remained silent for a while, feeling awkward, before saying, “Tomorrow, I’ll wear a different outfit, and you can wear that one again.”

Li Xi couldn’t help but laugh. “Duan Duan, you’re so cute.”

It was the first time in Duan Zhen’s life that he had been called cute, and he was momentarily stunned.

“Oh, I won’t tease you anymore.” Li Xi stood up from the chair, then suddenly pounced into Duan Zhen’s arms, wrapping his hands around his neck. “Actually, you did nothing wrong. Setting boundaries with a pursuer is the right thing to do.”

Duan Zhen paused for a moment. “Aren’t you angry?”

“Why would I be angry at Duan Duan for such a trivial matter?” Li Xi hugged him, smiling brightly.

Duan Zhen still felt something was off. After a while, he looked at Li Xi, who claimed to set boundaries with a pursuer but was still holding onto him.

“This is just a hug between friends,” Li Xi said confidently.

“You’re not being honest.” Duan Zhen saw through his little trick and pinched Li Xi’s cheek. “You should go back now. After lunch, I’ll take you to meet the psychic in the team.”

Li Xi became alert. “Are you going to kick me out after the meeting?”

“No, I won’t.” Duan Zhen tapped his head. “It’s just that next time, he’ll be joining us on our missions.”

“Oh, right,” Duan Zhen added. “Would you like to join us?”

“Of course!” Li Xi’s eyes lit up, raising his hand as if asking a question. “But Duan Duan, your team already has enough members, and two psychics seem redundant. How about…”

He cleared his throat. “I become the team leader’s wife. I noticed that position is still vacant.”

Duan Zhen didn’t mince words. “There’s no such position.”

Seeing Li Xi’s disappointed face, he couldn’t help but smile. “Alright, go back and have lunch.”

“Duan Duan, stay with me.” Li Xi held his hand, pretending to cry. “I’m afraid that guy will still be waiting for me.”

“I’ve thought about it. I’ve never seen him in the rest area.” Duan Zhen frowned. “He’s very powerful and has a strange personality. Someone should know about him.”

And with his blonde hair and obvious foreign features, he would stand out here, at least Duan Zhen hadn’t seen any other foreigners.

“He’s elusive, so it’s normal not to see him,” Li Xi tried to coax. “Let’s go eat together.”

Duan Zhen thought for a moment. “I’ll let Xia Qirong and the others accompany you. I have some things to do.”

The wife’s position… Li Xi you’re too much x)
