Failing to pry out any information from Chu Xiang, the man naturally did not tell Chu Xiang anything about his treasures either. But having conversed with one another for quite a while now, they knew for certain that neither one of them would budge and thus gave up on probing each other out in an inquisitive manner.

The man, seeming to have not talked to another person for who knows how long, chattered garrulously before taking the initiative to introduce himself, “I’m Li Yufeng. What about you?”

Leisurely playing with her tail while bathing under the sun, Chu Xiang responded, “We’re but mere strangers who met by chance. Is it truly necessary to exchange names?”

“Isn’t it normal for strangers meeting under such circumstances to become friends? Haven’t we already gotten acquainted with one another? So what’s wrong with exchanging names?”

“Why don’t you tell me what your intentions are first?” Chu Xiang asked. Feeling somewhat hungry, she stood up and swept her gaze around the vicinity in search of food.

Li Yufeng laughed helplessly, “You’re truly a cautious fellow, seeing that you’re not even willing to say your name. But is such anonymity truly necessary? Could it be that you possess a special status?”

Seeing Chu Xiang’s departing figure, Li Yufeng quickly got up and continued, “Alright, fine. I’ll give in. I’m a demon hunter.”

Upon hearing his words, Chu Xiang’s gaze instantly shifted in his direction. After all, demon hunters specialized in taking down demons. Furthermore, they definitely would not allow such demons to be dwelling in human towns and cities. Thus, it’s safe to say that they are the arch-enemies of all demons alike. To think such a person would be chatting with her in such a carefree manner, so much so that she could not tell that he was a demon hunter.

Li Yufeng quickly explained, “I’m a man of my own principles, vowing to only hunt down the demons that have broken the laws or committed any crimes. I’m being serious here. Otherwise, I would’ve mounted a sneak attack on you earlier. Why would I expose myself, let alone take the time to talk with you? Just like the duality of human nature, I too believe that there are both good and evil demons. In fact, the nature of certain humans can be much worse than that of demons.”

Chu Xiang averted her eyes and responded, “Did I ever ask so many things? Even if you want to catch up, I’m afraid you won’t be able to.”

Li Yufeng burst into laughter before walking towards her and squatting down. “What an interesting fellow. Every time I come across a demon, they’d always be extremely hostile towards me as if I’d done something to incur their wrath. But you, on the other hand, are surprisingly calm. Ah, aren’t you hungry? I noticed you looking around for food, right? I just so happened to know the perfect place. Don’t foxes love to eat chicken? Come, let’s go get ourselves some good meat!”

While it may certainly be good to receive his help, Chu Xiang nevertheless maintained a certain distance while following him. Coming upon a small valley, Li Yufeng was quickly able to catch two pheasants. He then said happily, “These aren’t just normal pheasants. In fact, they’re ones who grew up eating nothing but good food. They’ve been on my mind ever since I saw them three days ago. But since I was too tired, I decided to come back after getting some rest. You’re quite lucky, huh?”

“What did he mean by too tired?” Chu Xiang thought to herself, knowing that the injury he suffered was not simply a minor one. But rather than checking up on him, she looked around for a clean slate before jumping up and placing it down in front of him. “In that case, I’ll wait to have a taste.”

“Alright!” Li Yufeng raised the fire before stuffing a pile of herbs and spices — that who knows where he got from — into the pheasants’ stomachs. After doing so, he turned to Chu Xiang and asked, “Hey, why didn’t you prepare the food with me? You made it seem as if I was your servant.”

Whipping her fluffy tail around, Chu Xiang responded, “How so? Isn’t it normal for friends to cook for each other? Besides, the more capable person will naturally do more work. If you’re good at cooking, then you should be the one handling the food.”

Not bothered in the slightest, Li Yufeng let out a smile and shook his head. He then stabbed a wooden stick through the pheasant before roasting it above the fire. Gazing at Chu Xiang through the flickering flames, he asked, “You can tell me your name now, right?”

“Chu Xiang,” she candidly introduced herself after making sure that he had no evil intentions.

“Chu Xiang,” Li Yufeng mumbled her name twice and nodded. “Alright, I’ll remember it well. Anyways, what are you doing around these parts? Especially since the city at the base of the mountain is rather populated. Do you just so happen to be passing by? Or is there another reason? I’ve lived around this area for quite a while now, but I’ve never come across you before.”

Recalling her previous place being rather far away, she said, “I’m only passing by on a whim. How about you? How’d you get injured? Did you come across a strong opponent while demon hunting?”

Li Yufeng sighed, “As I said, humans can be much scarier than demons. Truth be told, I was surrounded by three other demon hunters. While the injuries I suffered aren’t minor, the injuries I inflicted upon them were even more serious. I reckon they’re still lying somewhere unconscious.”

During this time, Li Yufeng spoke about the past grand achievements of the three demon hunters. Unwittingly, the two roasted chicken was already done cooking.

Although Li Yufeng may seem like a beggar, his cooking skills were certainly nothing to scoff at. The smell of the roasted chicken was so fragrant even the wolves in the vicinity were enticed by it. However, since the two of them were cultivators, they could easily overwhelm the wolves with their aura and chase them away.

Just as Li Yufeng claimed, the roasted chickens were very delicious, certainly one of the few lucky ones that grew up eating well. However, who knows whether one could truly call them lucky as they had just been turned into food themselves.

As dusk fell, the campfire in the valley began emitting warm rays of light. And since their initial hostility toward one another had dwindled down, they were now gradually feeling more relaxed.

As talkative as Li Yufeng was, he was still a demon hunter at the end of the day. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable when it came to matters dealing with humans, but he also knew a lot about the demon world. Furthermore, he was also familiar with many of the demon hunters.

Listening to him speak, Chu Xiang was naturally able to gather a ton of useful information about this world. Since the original host and Bai Yi had always been cultivating in the mountains, they lived simple lives but, as a result, were lacking information about humans and turned out to be rather naive upon being exposed to the outside world. Otherwise, they would never have been caught off guard by the demon cultivators.

Since her initial memories of this world were rather lacking, Li Yufeng’s unexpected appearance was able to fill up all her current shortcomings and insufficient knowledge regarding this world — certainly an unexpected yet welcoming turn of events.

On the second day, Li Yufeng was once again responsible for the cooking. Upon finishing his meal, he suddenly recalled the two Ice Fish Chu Xiang caught the previous day.
