“Those fish are extremely valuable medicinal ingredients so won’t it be a waste for you to hold onto them? Why don’t you share one with me? I’ll be willing to trade something good for it. Besides, seeing how both of us are injured, let’s each have one to make a full recovery. If you face any sort of danger in the future, I will also come to your aid.”

Chu Xiang shook her head and replied, “I have uses for both fish, so I cannot give you one. From the looks of it, your injuries aren’t that severe anyways. I believe you’ll be able to make a full recovery on your own.”

Looking at the time of the day, Chu Xiang did not have any intentions of staying behind any longer as she had already accomplished her initial objective of catching two Ice Fish. Standing up, she said, “I’ll be going down now.”

Surprised, Li Yufeng asked, “You’re actually going into town? Do you already have a place to stay? If you want, you can come with me to my place. It’s not too bad there. Besides, there are only normal civilians living in the town there. Why are you getting involved with them?”

“That’s none of your business, so don’t follow me,” Chu Xiang said before swiftly leaving.

Looking at the pile of chicken bones on the ground, Li Yufeng muttered, “I’ve been tossed aside just like that, huh?”

After extinguishing the flames, he clapped the dust off his hands and quickly followed the trail left behind by Chu Xiang.

Just as Chu Xiang was on her way back to the Zhuang Family House, Zhuang Liu happened to see her and started nagging, “Look who’s finally back? Not only do you have the guts to do whatever you want, you even dare to go wherever you want, huh? Let’s see what you can do after closing you in a cage!”

Chu Xiang stared at her blankly. Wasn’t Zhuang Liu against having them as pets? If she really ran away, wouldn’t she be elated? Why does that not seem to be the case?

By that time, Bai Yi had already come rushing out as she leaped excitedly around Chu Xiang. Following her, Zhuang Yulang walked out with a relieved smile, “Thank goodness, Hong’er didn’t get lost! Mom, Hong’er seems to know her way back home. Hong’er and Bai’er and both very intelligent. We don’t need to keep them in a cage. Mom, don’t worry. I will definitely take good care of them.”

Zhuang Liu heaved a sigh, “Go back to your room and run. How can you be so distracted every day? Alright, I know you care a lot for them, so I’ll definitely take good care of them for you. Now, work hard and study well.”

“Alright, thanks, Mom! I knew you’re the best! I’ll get you a glass of water,” Zhuang Yulang said with an enthusiastic smile. He then poured a glass of water courteously for his mother with both hands like an obedient, filial son.

Ecstatic, Zhuang Liu grab the cup of water with both hands and took multiple small sips from it, both treasuring and touched by the filial piety of her son.

Taking one more quick glance at the two foxes, Zhuang Yulang proceeded back into his room to continue his studies.

Having followed Chu Xiang’s trail, Li Yufeng could not help but burst out laughing, albeit soft enough that only Chu Xiang and Bai Yi could hear him.

Alerted by his laughter, Bai Yi warned via telepathy, “Who’s there?!”

Without even turning her head back to look, Chu Xiang walked back to her usual sunbathing spot and said lazily, “He’s just a weird demon hunter. He won’t harm us, so you don’t need to worry about him.”

Li Yufeng responded, “I’ve been wholeheartedly serving you all night, so why did you toss me aside? How could you be so heartless?”

Confused, Bai Yi turned to Chu Xiang and asked her in a soft voice, “Why did he make it sound so ambiguous? Last night, you…”

Dumbfounded, Chu Xiang turned toward her and said, “I can’t even transform yet. I didn’t think you’d come up with such thoughts.”

Unable to hold back his laughter, Li Yufeng continued, “Hey, Chu Xiang. You siblings are certainly an interesting bunch. What exactly are you two doing here? What’s special about that guy? There isn’t any sort of treasure here either. Hmm? An array has been set up around the courtyard? In fact, the terrain and surroundings suit this particular array very well. However, the one back at my place is far superior. Chu Xiang, so what exactly are you doing here?”

Chu Xiang simply ignored him. After all, he’s simply a man of questions. Unconvinced, Bai Yi asked, “Chu Xiang, where did you meet him? Why doesn’t he want to catch us? Right, didn’t you go out to find some medicinal ingredients? Did you find them? Why did you come back earlier than planned?”

Chu Xiang then explained everything regarding the Ice Fish to her, “We’ll wait for Miss Zhuang to go to sleep before consuming the two fish for ourselves. After cultivating the whole night, we’ll be able to make a full recovery. From then on, we won’t have to worry about our injuries affecting our cultivation anymore.”

Stroking his chin, Li Yufeng nodded his head, “No wonder she didn’t want to trade with me in spite of the treasures I possess. It turns out that you wanted to use it to help your sister recover. White Fox, Chu Xiang seems to treat you very well. How come I don’t have a younger brother who cares about much as much too?”

Bai Yi snortled, “Perhaps it’s because no one can handle a chatterbox like you.”

At that moment, Zhuang Liu brought a cage over and tried to trap them inside. In response, Chu Xiang and Bai Yi jumped to the side with their nimble feet at the same time.

Rolling up her sleeves, Zhuang Liu said with a frown, “My son still needs to score well on the imperial exam to become an official. The two of you are only serving as distractions to him. Be good and stay in the cage. Don’t keep wandering around at night anymore. Look at how worried my son was the previous night!”

Puzzled, Chu Xiang asked, “What happened? Didn’t she want us gone before? Why does she want to keep us caged now?”

Bai Yi strolled back in a vexed manner, “Let’s drop the subject for now. How unlucky of me. I made a hairpin and deliberately let her pick it up, but a shameless woman pretended to be its owner and even seemed interested in fooling around with my benefactor! I naturally exploded in rage and taught her a lesson. But then, my benefactor thought that I was being too fierce and even reprimanded me for it. Now, even this married woman is scolding us for wandering around and blaming us for distracting my benefactor from his studies. Moreover, she even wants to close us up in a cage!”

Grasping the situation, Li Yufeng cried out laughing, “ Wait a minute! Your benefactor? The two of you are staying here to repay a favor? No wonder you’re willing to live in such a shabby place. White Fox, who did you teach a lesson to? I ought to go make some inquiries about the matter. While such things may seem trivial to demons like you, they certainly may not be the case for humans. In fact, it may end up turning into something much more devastating. Keep this in mind. If you want to live amongst humans, you must keep a low profile. Otherwise, if they start suspecting you and end up calling demon hunters, it will become quite troublesome.
