I urgently grabbed Leo’s arm. I wanted to walk home quietly, at least for a little while. My eardrums, exhausted from having to constantly listen to his chatty voice, were screaming in protest.

“No! I can go alone.”

“There’s no need to apologize. Besides, I wanted to walk a bit myself.”

Why don’t you have any sense of awareness? I felt so frustrated that I wanted to pound my chest.

“I have something to think about, so I want to walk alone. Will you bring me next time?”

“Oh… Something to think about?”

Leo suddenly blushed. Then he shyly said, “Okay.” I wondered what he was up to this time. He kept coughing awkwardly, and I realized he had fallen into a grand delusion.

He attached meaning to the words I carelessly threw out. He probably interpreted my remark of “having something to think about alone” as a serious contemplation about our relationship.

Well, no matter how Leo misunderstood, my priority was to leave this house first. Leo offered to accompany me to the door, and I couldn’t refuse that.

“Well then, take care and go in, Liv.”

“Yes. You should sleep early too.”

“Let’s… meet again.”

I evaded his question with a smile. As I opened the door to leave, my heart suddenly raced. Kamian was standing right in front of the door. His always neatly combed hair was dishevelled by the wind, falling over his forehead, and he seemed slightly out of breath. Kamian also widened his eyes in surprise and looked at me.

His right hand was reaching into the air. It must have been the moment he was about to open the door.

“Kamian?”

Leo discovered Kamian belatedly. Kamian lifted his gaze following the sound. Then his eyes sank, chillingly, to the depths. His lips grew cold and firm, exuding a foreboding aura. Why all of a sudden? I turned around to face Leo. Could it be? Leo’s head was soaked in sweat, and three buttons of his shirt were undone. I could vaguely guess what misunderstanding Kamian had fallen into.

What appeared on Kamian’s face was primal, raw anger. Leo was overwhelmed by that oppressive energy, unable to utter a word, his eyes only blinked. I pushed Kamian aside and bid farewell to Leo.

“It was delightful today. Goodbye then.”

[Thud] And I promptly closed the door.

As Leo disappeared from sight, Kamian’s overt anger that had been brewing within him diminished somewhat. However, the ominous atmosphere had not completely dissipated.

“Why did you come here?”

“What did you do with that bastard?”

“Why did you come?”

“Did you kiss? Or did it go all the way? Was that bastard better than me?”

He approached me without hesitation. A shadow darker than the night loomed over his head. I couldn’t bring myself to raise my head, so I could only look at his chest. Despite having done nothing wrong, my heart sank to my toes. Kamian wasn’t my lover, and I hadn’t betrayed him for someone like that. Yet, why did I feel so anxious and unsettled by his pressing questions? Even I couldn’t understand.

“Now my body is no longer needed?”

Kamian touched and caressed me more intensely than usual. He ran his fingers along my round shoulder blades and arms, kissed my forehead, and pressed his cheeks against mine. It felt like he was begging me to look at him.

However, contrary to his yearning gestures, his voice was fierce and mournful. My forehead touched Kamian’s chest as he lightly pushed my back. I closed my eyes, listening to the sound of his heart pounding like mad. And just like Kamian, my words burst out sharply, different from my body that leaned comfortably against him.

“Don’t make me say it painfully several times. Why did you come here?”

We both relentlessly asked what we wanted to know.

“As long as you don’t disgust me, wasn’t it to allow you to have even a s*x toy by your side?”

Kamian spoke with a wounded voice, as if he were muttering. Like a loyal servant abandoned by a king.

As his excitement grew, his voice became increasingly agitated. I became anxious, as if his voice would reach Leo inside the house. I grabbed his clothes and pulled him recklessly. The sun had completely set, and the streets were dyed with a silent darkness. [Thud, thud] Only our chaotic footsteps echoed disturbingly on the ground.

When we had distanced ourselves a bit, I let go of his clothes and faced Kamian. He still wore a bewildered expression.

“Answer my question first. Why did you come?”

He brushed his hair roughly, as if to suppress his anger.

“Even as the sun sets, you didn’t come. I’m imagining all sorts of terrible things in my head, how can you just stand there?”

It felt like a payback for the time when Kamian came in silently late at dawn.

“Instead of being treated like an object by you, I’d rather die.”
