Chapter 41: Veramood Lunatil

“You really think it’s coincidence?”

At Serios’ words, Veramood answered briefly, “maybe?” while was still lying on the couch. He then covered his eyes with the back of his hand as if shouting ‘i’m tired’ with his body.

But it wasn’t Serios if he let you off the hook.

“It’s weird, isn’t it? At that exact time? In a deserted hunting ground? Suspicious. Also, when I investigated her, all of a sudden her spending has increased these days.”

“Really?”

“Yes. Buy a house. Buy clothes. Where did she get the money?”

“Looks like she saved it.”

Serious smiled, “what… kind of knight that save ninety percent of their knight’s salary? Say something that makes sense.”

“So what are you going to do?’

“Look into it once more.”

Veramood sighed and raised his body. He had been involved in a series of funerals, so he was physically and mentally tired.

“You look tired.”

“Who is this because of?”

Veramood wiped his face with his dry hands. It was exhausting to deal with the non-stop crying bereaved families.

“Did you compensate them enough?”

This attack was beyond their expectation. Therefore, there was no way Veramood gave the family member of the soldiers killed in this sudden attack the same amount of money as the soldiers that died normally. He paid them two to three times more.

Veramood glared Serios for a while, then glanced away without answering the remarks.

“What about Marquis Piensha?” Veramood asked briefly.

“He said that he had escaped after seeing the beast, and they would see us next time.”

“That is very suspicious.”

“I know, you tell me.”

Serios had a serious look on his face as Veramood raised his head. “When Ariel’s condition was checked because of that incident, they said she is pregant.”

“What?”

Veramood’s face brightened instantly as if a light bulb was turned on.

Ariel and Serios hadn’t had a child for a long time. After losing a child in a miscarriage in their early marriage, they hadn’t had another child for more than ten years of their marriage. There were many words thrown to Crown Prince Serios to dispose Ariel, but Serios firmly kept Ariel beside him.

“Really? Congratulations. How long has it been?” Veramood asked in a trembling voice.

Serious grinned. “Thank you for the congratulations. But, strangely, Marquis Piensha asked me to bring Ariel next time. So I wonder, if he asked that because he knew or….”

Veramood’s face hardened. If the others knew Ariel was pregnant, which they shouldn’t have known, it meant that there was a spy among the healers.

“So flip everything over. Don’t miss even the smallest thing.” Serios added firmly. “And look into that female knight, also tell her I’d like to see her in private.”

A second after, Serious felt a little sorry saying that. “I know you’re not in a position to do this of messenger thing—”

“It’s okay.” Veramood cut Serios’ words, then smiled. “I’ll do it.”

***

Veramood got off in front of a mansion in District 2.

Before pressing the bell by the gate, he found a man working in the garden. The man also discovered Veramood.

“Are you a guest?”

Veramood nodded his head, answering the man’s question.

‘Weird.’ Arcana was puzzled. No one told him that today the mansion would have a guest. However, in any case, all guests have the right to be welcomed at the front door.

Arcana opened the gate, then opened the front door and went in first.

“Siri! There is a visitor—”

Veramood’s eyes narrowed hearing that casual shouting. ‘Siri? A gardener called her that?’

“Please, come this way.”

As Arcana took off his garden gloves, Veramood quickly passed his cane to Mary and then followed her to the drawing room.

“A guest?” Sigrid came down from the upper floor with a surprised face. She was wearing the shabby clothes she had worn when she lived in the District 3.

Arcana nodded his head lightly, “I’m going to change my clothes.”

“Mm..”

Mary walked over to Sigrid and whispered, “it’s Sir. Lunatil.”

‘That person? Why?’ Sigrid thought so and walked to the drawing room.

“Are you going to have a gardener call your name like that?” Veramood threw out a question as soon as he saw Sigrid while still sitting on the sofa.

“What gardener?”

“Someone who just called you Siri.”

“Oh, he’s not a gardener, he’s my friend.”

“Friend?”

“Yes.” Sigrid replied to Veramood’s questionable eyes, she sat down, “What are you here for today? I’m sorry, but I have to go out now.”

“What kind of lie is that?”

Sigrid frowned hearing Veramood’s words. “What do you mean I’m lying?”

“Where are you going in that outfit?”

“I’m going to go to my friend’s house.”

“Friend?”

“Yes, my friend is not feeling well, but he is the head of the family. There must be a lot of work in that house, so I’m hoping I could give some helps.”

Sigrid thought she would give some help to Alkerto, who injured his arms, after hearing about his family condition. Didn’t people help their friends who were in difficulties? Alkerto said he hadn’t informed his family, so he must be hiding his injuries, therefore she decided to get rid of things he couldn’t do for the time beings. She even got Morris Alkerto’s home address.

“If you don’t have anything to say, I’m going to go.”

“Yes, there it is, Siri.”

“You should call me Sir. Ankertna.” Sigrid answered sharply. Only her friend who could call her with that nickname. ‘Don’t even dare to call me that, Veramood.’

Veramood licked his lips. His sense told him that he shouldn’t cross that line.

“Okay then, Sigrid.”

“Call me, Sir. Ankertna.”

“Anway, you don’t think you could take temporary position and release it at will, do you?”

“I’ve definitely had paid you back.”

“That’s suspicious too.”

“What do you mean?”

“Just being in that place.”

“It’s coincidence.”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

‘Lying is also a way— Lying is also a way—’

After Sigrid consulted with Arcana that she has returned to the past, it was concluded that it would be better not to reveal to anyone that she knew the future. She didn’t really mind it, she didn’t want to be harmed by knowing this fact. And though she kind of disliked him, she didn’t want to harm Veramood either.

“I’m sorry, but I have to leave. If you have more something to say, please make an appointment next time.” Sigrid stood up.

“Great.” Veramood stood up. “I’ll follow you too.”

“Why?”

“Because I want to be a friend?”

Sigrid tilted her head, then nodded.

‘Alkerto is a good man.’

If Veramood wanted to befriend Alkerto, she had no reason to stop him.

‘Wait, really? Can I introduce this kind of person to my precious Alkerto?’

But Veramood wanted to be Alkerto’s friend, so she really had no reason to stop him.

‘Let’s just tell Alkerto what I think.’

That was Sigrid’s pledge.

“Arcana.”

“Are you done talking?”

Arcana poked his head out.

Sigrid nodded, “Sir Lunatil is going with us.”

Arcana’s green eyes filled with wonder, and vigilance. But because he was a mage, who was skilled in delusion, lies and deceit, that vigilance disappeared like snow melted away.

“It’s good to have a lot of hands.” Arcana said so and smiled softly.
