Rowana POV

Rowana wasted no time fleeing from Sapphire Principality with her godchild. She packed all the stuff that Sai wanted to bring with them including the bed in the room.

Rowana firmly grasped Sai's shoulders and enveloped his entire body in Wind Magic Art. Together, they soared through the air, swiftly departing from the Royal Palace.

Rowana knew that even with her power, it would have been impractical to carry Sai all the way to her home in the Ironthorn Forest.

Rowana used Sai’s wealth to purchase a pair of horses and a coach wagon. They sneaked away from the Sapphire Principality at the dead of night.

Rowana's was currently headed toward Willowgreen City with Bart and Lisa pulling the wagon.

Bart and Lisa were the names that Sai gave to the pair of the horses.

Rowana gazed upon the road growing dim and the enchanting night sky above. Pulling the reins, she directed the horses to guide the coach wagon towards the edge of the road.

Her eyes searched through the surrounding woods, searching for any sign of the Horned Dogs. There was no sight of those demonic dogs nearby. Rowana's hope that the Repel Lamp was indeed functioning as intended.

Rowana floated from her seat and approached the coach wagon door, unlatching it. Her gaze fell upon Sai's face as he slumbered, nestled in his seat.

Rowana closed the door and floated to sit on the roof of the coach wagon.

‘Tomorrow we are going to have to talk about the future,’ Rowana thought seriously. Rowana summoned the broken Mithril Cuff that once chained her godchild neck.

The metal was cold to her touch. To Rowana, it represented her regrets.

She regrets that she left her child in the hands of a tyrannical princess.

“This is far from over,” Rowana said seriously as she narrowed her eyes.

Her familiar Slither crawled out her Kibisis and curled up in her lap. “It looks like your planning to murder someone. What are you thinking about?”

Rowana hummed softly. She then started to caress Slither's head softly. “Making plans,” Rowana chuckled, “I wonder if this is what motherhood feels like? How does mom and Rachel handle all the worries?”

The Fairy Godmother's were tasked to protect a hero from a predatory world that thinks it smells of his fresh blood.

Slither then commented. “I never did understand your fairies obsessions with heroes.”

Rowana had recalled the stories her mother had told her. How the Heroes would valiantly and honorably protect the human race.

The vision that was inherited from the Great Fairies. Showing Heroes defending the human race against the Demon Invasion. How they fought until the last breath and died valiantly against the horde of demons.

Rowana raised her hand into the air toward the endless star above. “I am his only family in this entire world. I will protect him until the end.”

----

The sun was up.

Rowana awoke with a stretch. She followed the bond and saw her godchild sitting against a tree writing something down..

Rowana floated toward him and looked over the shoulder to see a grid with numbers.

“What are you working on?” Rowana asked.

“I’m making a sudoku game. It is a puzzle game from my old world,” Sai answered. “Guess you could say it is a way to waste time.”

“Is that so,” Rowana used her ancient magic to peek at Sai status.

Level 10
Title Hero
Agility 15
Durability 155
Mana 3
Mind 3
Strength 9
Remaining Points 0
Gift Sour Apples

‘His Durability is crazy high!’ Rowana was shocked. It was twice the defense capability of Light Silver. Light Silver was about 60 points of Durability. ‘At this rate he might reach Mithril Durability of 500 points in a couple of months.’

“So... What should we do next?” Sai asked Rowana who was deep in thought.

Rowana tilted her head pondering what to say and then looked over Sai conditions. “Breakfast.”

“Breakfast... Yeah that sounds like a good idea.”

Rowana used her Kibisis and pulled out a floral blanket and laid it on the ground. She pulled out a basket.

Rowana then asked. “What kind of sandwich do you want? Chicken, turkey, tuna salad or plain peanut butter and jelly?”

“I am really jealous of your inventory,” Sai admitted. “I will take two tuna salads. Haven’t had any fish in a while.”

“Of course,” Rowana said, fetching the tuna salads and handing them over to Sai.

Rowana took a peanut butter jelly sandwich and then took out strawberry slices. She opened the sandwiches and placed the strawberry slices into the sandwich. She ate her sandwich and thought about evading capture from the monarchy. It wasn’t safe in the region until they reached the Ironthorn Forest.

One path to the Ironthorn Forest is to travel directly toward the North, which means they will go through dense forest filled with Horned Dogs, Brutal Dogs and Magical Beast.

Rowana could survive traveling through the forest, but it would be dangerous for her Godchild. Rowana decided it was much safer to use the human made roads which were with regular patrols by knights and mages.

They would head toward Willowgreen City and then a three day trip toward LavenderSprings City. Another day would get them into the Ironthorn Forest.

Sai then asked. “Besides breakfast... What are you planning? Do you know where we are heading?”

“We are heading to my home in the Ironthorn Forest. We'll be safe from the monarchy there. Now then, do you have any plans for the future?”

“I’m not going to be a hero,” Sai answered.

“Okay?”

“I am going to take a vacation!” Sai said with a burning passion.

Rowana thought for a moment. ‘A break isn’t a bad idea. After all, he has been imprisoned by the Princess. However, considering his safety...’

Rowana then said. “Would you be against staying in my home in Ironthorn Forest? The Holy City and the Fairy Garden are also options.”

“Which is closer?”

“Fairy Garden will take three weeks to a month. Holy City would take about two weeks. The Ironthorn Forest will take less than a week.”

“Is there a nearby beach at Ironthorn Forest?”

“There's a lake and hotsprings.”

“Sounds good to me. Let's go!”

----

Two days later.

Willowgreen City used to have trees all around the area. They were cut down for more space and houses.

Rowana thought it was a shame not to replant them. The city would look nicer if it had more trees.

Rowana steered the horses toward the entrance and waited for the guards to let them through into the city.

“Little girl, where are your parents,” The guard asked, mistaking Rowana as a young girl.

Rowana let out a heavy sigh. She couldn't help but wonder why she seemed to be unable to mature into a Mother Fairy, especially when her sister had already achieved it, despite them being the same age.“I am traveling with my brother. He’s asleep in the back from our long trip. Can I pay the fee and go already?”

The guard nodded, “That will be 20 coins to enter the city.”

Rowana looked at the guard in disgust. “Are you joking with me! The Toll fee can’t be that high!? That’s ten times more expensive!”

The guard shrugged. “Pay the fee or get out of line.”

Rowana was tempted to turn around and then sneak into the city. However, that was more trouble than it was worth.

Rowana glared at the guard before going to satchel and getting 20 coins and paying off the guard to let them into the city.

The guard collected the coins and then signaled they could enter the city.

“Greedy humans,” Rowana muttered darkly as they passed into the city.

----

The market was filled with fruits, vegetables and an assortment of meat.

Rowana grabbed a potato and examined it carefully. It was an interesting vegetable since most wild potatoes are poisonous. If there was any green on the potato then it meant it was poisonous.

Rowana looked over all the food in the marketplace. She wondered how many people died trying to figure out what was safe to eat and what wasn’t.

Rowana paid for a sack of potatoes and continued shopping.

Rowana bought various supplies they would need. Medicines, blankets, rock candy and a helmet.

The season was getting colder as they approached the Eighth Month. She was going to have to get fall wear for her Godchild.

Rowana headed back to the coach wagon where her godchild was waiting for her.

Sai was writing in his notepad as Rowana entered the coach wagon.

“I hope you haven’t been waiting long,” Rowana said as she pulled out a helmet. “Please wear this helmet, we don’t want the monarchy to know where you are.”

The cheap metal helmet covers the top half of the face, leaving the bottom open, and it's made of steel. It covers the forehead and nose, but allows easy communication and breathing with the mouth and chin uncovered. It has two large eye holes for clear vision.

Sai put the helmet on his head. “It fits well,” He started tapping on his head.

“I can easily memorize the shape of your body,” Rowana said. “When you have your Mind Attribute at or above 30 points you can never forget.”

Sai wrote the fact in his notepad. “That’s good to know.”

Rowana calculated their next move by considering a number of factors.

Rowana considered leaving Willowgreen City and heading toward LavenderSprings City. However it would take three to four days to make the trip.

After all traveling the horses needed rest.

“Lets get breakfast and stay in a tavern,” Rowana said. “We will leave in the morning.”

Sai nodded. “Warm food and a bed sounds great.”

----

Rowana made the reservation in the inn. Then she moved toward her godchild, she used her bond to find him.

Sai was standing in front near a board in the lobby. He seems to be drawing something on a wanted poster.

Rowana hurried toward Sai. “What are you doing?”

“Look like I’m a wanted criminal,” Sai said in a humorous tone.

The bounty picture was a crude drawing of her Godchild. A bounty of 5 million coins. Sai tarnished the bounty picture by adding a mustache and goatee.

Rowana frowned. ‘They couldn’t have placed a bounty this quickly. I am going to have to investigate this.’

Rowana shook her head. “Please don’t draw attention to yourself. I can protect you from most harm, but you are not in level to protect yourself.”

Sai gave a salute. “Will do ma'am.”

----

The room in the Inn was adequate. Two beds and a nice view of the city.

Sai was sleeping in the bed. Absolutely oblivious to the world.

Rowana sat next to the open window looking out into Willowgreen City.

Slither was the perfect spy. The snake was able to eavesdrop on conversation with no one the wiser. Rowana tasked him to figure out why the monarchy was adamant on finding her Godchild.

Rowana waited.

Late into the night, Slither entered through the window.

“I got the info,” Slither said. “Wasn’t hard, since it was the talk of the town.”

“Well, don’t keep me suspenses. What happened?”

“Looks like the Third Queen Erisenda is dead. The Unicorn Palace was burned to the ground. The Fairy Religion is preparing to leave the Sapphire Principality with a large chunk of its citizens. They are blaming the kid for all of this,” Slither explained.

“Your wrong, Erisenda was never a Queen,” Rowana said and shook her head. “She was an unwilling concubine and a good friend to the fairies. I pray she’s happy in the afterlife...”
