Sai woke up and was staring at the ceiling with checker patterns of white and gray colors.

His body was tired, like he ran a marathon, and he was still recovering.

Rowana was reading a letter next to the bed. She then said in a worrying tone, "How are you feeling?"

"Did we win?" Sai asked. He was feeling lightheaded and didn't know if this was reality or just another dream.

Rowana gave a bright smile, "We won. The Demon Lord was killed by your last attack."

Sai exhaled in relief and then said, "That's wonderful news... I am glad that is over."

Sai looked over to the end of the bed and saw a small mountain of colorfully wrapped gifts. Sai looked over to Rowana and asked, "I don't remember those gifts when I went to sleep last night."

Rowana clarified, "You have been sleeping for an entire day. Those gifts are from the citizens of the Northern Dukedom. They are gifts for saving their home from the... Well, all the threats that day."

Sai smiled bashfully and then said, " I won't say no to gifts. After all, I'm a humble hero, I just did the right thing."

Sai then noticed a pile of destroyed letters next to Rowana's chair. "So... What is the story with all the letters?"

Rowana answered, "Well, I've been actually filtering all your mail. Some of these have been sent by Nobles that want to get you under the thumb by offering you money, land, or their daughters. Others are from organizations that want to make deals that basically make you their slave. A large number want to start a rebellion. Another few want to challenge you to fight. The list goes on and on."

Rowana carefully placed some letters on Sai’s lap. “These are letters of appreciation from people that you saved. Go ahead and read them.”

Sai smiled and opened the letters.

The letters were from kids that thank him for saving their parents from Horned and Brutal Dogs.

Another from a young girl that wanted to marry him when she grows up.

Other people that expressed their appreciation for defeating the Demon Lord.
Griffon Knight sent an invitation to the Adventure Guild to have dinner.

Another from Samantha the girl with the Polar Bear saying hope he gets better.

It was a large stack of mail and Sai would carefully read each and everyone of them.

Sai decided it was time to allocate his points. “Blessing.”

Sai thought about the build he was aiming for. Currently Sai was a brawler that used very little poison. So Sai decided to add 15 points to both his Agility and Strength.

When he finished reading the mail. Rowana then asked, “Want breakfast?”

“It’s a shame that I have leave so soon from this comfy bed.” Sai smiled and nodded his head, “Yeah lets get breakfast.”

----

The house they were in was abandoned and there were crusaders and priests working or busying themselves with chores.

Sai and Rowana were able to find the kitchen to have a simple breakfast.

Rowana had a delicious steak. The juices glisten on the surface, providing a tantalizing hint of the flavorful explosion awaiting each fortunate bite. The steak is expertly sliced, revealing a perfectly pink and juicy center that speaks to the chef's mastery of temperature control. The meat is so tender that the mere suggestion of a knife would likely render it effortlessly apart.

Sai had a steaming pile of carrots and broccoli. “This is so not fair, give me some of your steak.”

Rowana shook her head, “No. Eat your carrots, child. Before I forget, I think we need to take the risk of you drinking the Eighty-Six poison. This poison is very dangerous. I personally made it myself to kill dragons who are known to be resistant to poison. I want you to start drinking this poison. This is the last step before I begin the procedure on you with the Forbidden Poison,”

“What is the Forbidden Poison?” Sai asked.

“A poison that was made by Yadnot people, well you could think of them as an ancient civilization. The Forbidden Poison has the ability to mutate people and make them...evolve. It has a high fatality rate,” Rowana explained.

“Sounds dangerous.:.”

“Trust me, the risk is worth it. Your body will be immune to every poison to ever exist,” Rowana said. Pulling out a small glass vial and placing it on the table.

The vial had the words Eighty-Six written on it. It was like staring at a lava lamp as it glowed red and yellow liquid and moved up and down.

Rowana said, “Drink this. It’s the Eighty-Six poison. A poison that is strong enough to kill even the mightiest Ancient Dragons.”

Sai took the vial and drank it. It was very salty. “This needs to be sweet.”

“If the only side effect that you have is that it tastes salty, then I will take it.”

Sai and Rowana had a lovely breakfast before Archbishop Ruben brought a stack of documents with two other crusaders bringed their own pile of documents.

“Good your awake Hero,” the Archbishop said, placing the large stack of documents on the breakfast table. “I have brought to you every candidate that I believe would make a good familiar contract with you.”

Rowana raised her eyebrow. “It looks to me that you brought documents on every person in the Fairy Religions.”

The Archbishop sat down on the table. “I am sure someone in these stacks of documents would interest you.”

Sai gave a wearily smile looking at the piles of documents. He couldn’t put his finger on it. However, he grew to like the crusaders. Maybe was fighting together against the Horned and Brutal Dogs. Maybe it was when the Archbishop supported him. Maybe it was just spend time with them. Sai trusted the Archbishop.

As for being a Hero. That was a question that he didn’t have definite answers to.

Sai shook his head, “I wouldn’t mind helping an ally. Choose someone that you trust and is smart enough that he wouldn’t send me to my death.”

Archbishop Ruben shoulder slump down, “I am going to be up all night trying to find the perfect candidate. It will definitely be worth it though, having a Hero that slayed a Demon Lord on our side.”

Rowana then added, “Child you need to ask for more. Be sure to reward my Godchild well for accepting a familiar contract with a member of the Fairy Religion. Hero Relic would be helpful.Hmm. Are we heading back to the Ironthorn Forest? Our business within the Northern Dukedom is done.”

Archbishop Ruben said, “I would like the Hero to stay for the Northern Dukedom Tournament. To raise the hero's fame and win the tournament.”

Sai said, “I already killed a Demon Lord, my fame is already through the roof.”

Rowana took out the Mithril Shield and Staff of Moses. “We already have the Hero Relic that we were planning to steal.”

Archbishop Ruben then said. “The Tournament needed to be redone since the contestants were killed. Now there are three new prizes. Entrance Ticket to Alexandria Academy, a hundred thousand coins and wait for it, a date with Princess Ophelia!”

Sai then said, “We should leave by tomorrow, I am still feeling tired and sore.”

Archbishop Ruben said, “I already signed you up. You will be joining the tournament. Think of doing it for the good of the nation.”

“Drat.”
