Chapter 74 – Luring the Tiger Away from the Mountain

Zhang Yuanqing’s gaze followed the Orange Cat as it swiftly reached the Villa’s entrance, squeezing through a gap in the iron gate and vanishing behind the enclosure wall.

Seconds later, trees erupted from over the wall, growing wildly to the height of a two-story building.

Blossoms hung at the corners of the wall and the treetops, competing in beauty. In a blink, the Villa, that courtyard, transformed into a vibrant garden.

Guan Ya leaned in, whispering, “Keep the Antidote Pill in your mouth; once inside, if you haven’t taken it already, it’ll be too late.”

Zhang Yuanqing glanced at his companions and noticed they all silently produced the secret pills crafted by the Blossom Society, placing them in their mouths.

He looked back at Guan Ya, who also popped one in, her cheeks puffing out, adding an extra touch of cuteness to her radiant, melon-seed face, somewhat endearing.

She was still in her white blouse, black stockings, and skirt suit, her shapely, smooth thighs strapped with twin gun holsters. The zipper on the skirt was undone up to the top of her thighs, which facilitated movement—if one ignored the risk of exposing oneself, even a spinning kick wasn’t difficult to execute.

Naturally, Zhang Yuanqing suspected the woman must be wearing safety shorts, but since he couldn’t lift her skirt to confirm, he had no evidence.

“Will this thing really guard against a Gu Sorcerer’s poison?” he asked while rolling the fragrant pill around in his mouth.

“Definitely not,” Guan Ya’s pretty face turned serious, no longer all smiles. “The poison of a Gu Sorcerer isn’t so easily countered, but this can weaken its potency, preventing life-threatening danger.”

“The Night Wandering Deity has strong vitality; you should be the least worried,” she added.

Zhang Yuanqing nodded and surveyed his teammates. Aside from the five captains, himself, and the Old driver, the other eight were made up of two Water Ghosts, two Fire Warriors, two Earth Monsters, and two Wood Demons.

The distribution of classes was even, ensuring no weak links.

Additionally, all these members were Level 2 walkers; Level 1 walkers weren’t qualified to join the operation.

Level 1 Lawful Classes were like chicks in front of a Level 3 fully accomplished Evil Class.

At that moment, the growth of vegetation ceased, and Captain Green Vine whispered,

“Move out!”

Fifteen spirit realm walkers moved swiftly and quietly through the deserted streets of the Residential community, converging towards the Villa.

As they neared the Villa, Captain Green Vine slowed down, and the Big Muscle Tyrant, flanked by two robust Fire Warriors, stepped forward. They gripped the Villa’s gate lock and exerted force silently.

After a faint red glow, molten iron “plopped” to the ground.

The three Fire Warriors stepped back, and Tang Guoqiang, accompanied by two Earth Monsters, took the lead into the Villa’s yard.

The tanks leading the charge, then it should be the fighters. Seeing this, Zhang Yuanqing couldn’t help but think, and sure enough, the Big Muscle Tyrant followed the three Earth Monsters with his two Fire Warriors in tow.

After the fighters would typically come the mages, then the healing priests, Zhang Yuanqing thought to himself.

The Water Ghosts and Wood Demons promptly entered.

Scouts ranked even below healing priests. Zhang Yuanqing glanced back at the Decurion and Guan Ya, noting the unusual look from his subordinate, Li Dongze leaned on his cane, maintaining his elegance, and whispered,

“As Scouts, we must orchestrate behind the scenes, observing the movements all around.”

Decurion, there’s no need to salvage your pride! Zhang Yuanqing decided to play along and said in a deep voice:

“Understood, a True Eye is very important during a team fight.”

Li Dongze’s expression stiffened as he recalled the “humiliation” from his subordinate that day. He glanced at the lush vegetation in the corner of the wall. “I’m considering whether to plant you in there.”

By this time, the Official Walkers, pistols in hand, had reached the Villa’s main hall security door.

Because the Villa’s yard was covered by a Barrier, there was no need to spread out and surround the building. Also, considering the enemy was a Level 3 Evil Class, spreading out could likely result in casualties, so everyone decided to breach through the main door.

Tang Guoqiang pressed one hand on the security door’s lock, and the wall connected to the lock rapidly turned to sand, crumbling away.

He didn’t enter immediately but instead turned his head to look at Zhang Yuanqing.

The night was the home turf of the Night Wandering Deity. In an environment where one couldn’t see their own hand in front of their face, the Night Wandering Deity moved like a fish in water.

Understanding the cue, Zhang Yuanqing vanished from sight under everyone’s watchful eyes.

He quickly entered the foyer, and to guard against any possible ambush, he deliberately spun and leapt into the house with a stylish entrance. After all, in his Night Wandering state, he could mask all sounds.

Zhang Yuanqing stopped at the junction between the foyer and the living room, his True Eye slowly scanning the living room. The Villa’s living room was spacious, with a sofa and coffee table in the center for receiving guests, an open kitchen with a dining table on the left, and stairs leading to the second floor on the right.

The living room’s dome was very high, and the interior layout of the Villa was in the shape of the character “回”. Standing at the railing on the second floor, one could overlook the living room on the first floor.

After advancing to Level 2, his Night Wandering time had extended to 30 seconds, but it still wasn’t enough for a detailed inspection of the living room. After preliminarily determining there was no danger, Zhang Yuanqing left the living room and reappeared in the sight of the Official Walkers.

“There’s no one on the first floor; as for the second floor, I don’t know,” he said in a low voice.

Tang Guoqiang made a decisive call: “Move!”

With that, he led the way into the living room, and the rest of the team entered in a well-trained, orderly manner.

Just as everyone entered the pitch-dark living room, they heard a “snap” and the crystal chandelier hanging from the dome lit up, bringing light and illuminating the interior of the Villa, as well as the Official Walkers who had infiltrated the building.

The Official Walkers felt a chill in their hearts.

“I’ve been waiting a long time for you, ladies and gentlemen!”

A man of average build appeared by the second-floor railing, his face gaunt, with slanting eyes and sword-like eyebrows. It was Reckless Rampage.

The Gu Sorcerer leaned on the railing, looking down at the Official Walkers below, his lips curled in a mocking smile:

“Fifteen Lawful Walkers, tsk tsk, you really think highly of me. To capture me, you’ve all gone to great lengths. But when it comes to the line between Hunter and Prey, who can truly define it?”

His words were cut off by Guan Ya firing her twin guns.

The first bullet left a deep dent in the wall of the second floor, while the second predicted Reckless Rampage’s rolling trajectory to evade, successfully hitting and producing a crisp metallic collision sound.

Reckless Rampage clung to the wall, stubbornly finishing his speech, laughing maniacally:

“I love adventure, I love breaking the rules. The Reputation for hunting down fifteen Lawful Classes is worth the risk. Enjoy the killing feast I’ve prepared for you.”

The ceiling overhead shattered in response, and shards of glass rained down like a storm.

The spacious living room plunged into darkness once again.

Amid the clattering sound of glass shards, Zhang Yuanqing heard an almost imperceptible “buzzing” sound, faint yet dense, like countless mosquitoes vibrating their wings.

Then came the warning from Li Dongze:

“Above us!”

The muscle-bound Fire Warriors and two others took a deep breath, their cheeks puffing out as they exhaled a “whoosh” of air from their lungs, the flames expanding rapidly, lighting up the darkened living room.

Countless sparks fell, filling the air with the acrid smell of burning.

The black specks that fell were some kind of poison insect, giving off a pungent and unpleasant odor when burned. Zhang Yuanqing accidentally inhaled a few breaths and started to feel dizzy and disoriented.

The Official Walker team fell into slight disarray, as not everyone could see in the dark.

“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh”

Flames surged, as three Fire Warriors covered themselves with intense fire, dispelling the darkness and bringing light.

Looking around the living room, everyone’s scalp tingled.

On the living room floor, numerous strange insects had appeared at some point—there were menacing worms with mouthparts, locust-like insects, palm-sized spiders, and some species that were simply unrecognizable. They all shared one feature: vibrant colors.

Although the flames brought light, they also created flickering shadows, and with limited brightness, it was difficult to ensure one wouldn’t be attacked by the poisonous insects.

Zhang Yuanqing had an idea and crouched down, rushing to the open kitchen, and with a snap, turned on the lights on that side.

Such a large living room couldn’t possibly be lit by a single chandelier alone.

“Well done!” White Loong, who carried a black longsword on his back, let out a sigh of relief and shouted, “Smash the faucet, we need water.”

Without hesitation, Zhang Yuanqing punched the faucet, shattering it. To his surprise, instead of a fierce spray of water, large amounts of clear water gushed from the broken pipe, flowing through the air as if alive.

This stream of water swept over the floor, the sofa, every corner of the living room, carrying away the assorted Gu Insects, and finally condensed into a water ball the size of a water tank mid-air, with numerous Gu Insects entangled within, bobbing up and down.

White Loong opened his palms and then clapped them together forcefully.

“Boom!”

The water ball exploded, with droplets mixed with Gu Insect carcasses splashing all over the living room.

Impressive. Seeing this scene, Zhang Yuanqing couldn’t help but admire sincerely, thinking that it’s no wonder he’s a mage, with flashy skills. If it were him, facing the current situation, he could only opt for a strategic retreat.

After all, the Night Wandering Deity’s role in the Supernatural Stage is that of an assassin.

At this moment, Li Dongze, acting as the Scout, suddenly looked up, sensing a dangerous force rapidly expanding on the second floor, and urgently warned:

“There’s danger on the second floor, four forces.”

The hearts of the Official Walkers sank. With their experience, they finally confirmed something—they had been ambushed.

From Reckless Rampage’s words, from his attitude, from his responsiveness, it was evident he was prepared for this capture.

It looked like they had been led into a trap. Although Zhang Yuanqing lacked experience, he wasn’t foolish. He glanced at his companions, who wore serious expressions yet remained silent, and he suppressed his doubts.

Now was not the time for such thoughts.

“Thud, thud,” the sound of footsteps echoed in the quiet space, as a tall humanoid monster appeared by the railing.

It was extremely ugly, with sharp insect-like mouthparts, a flat nose, amber-colored vertical pupils, standing two meters tall, and its dark brown body was covered with scale-like keratin, resembling a layer of sturdy armor.

Its fingernails were black and sharp, easily scratching claw marks on the railing.

“My poor insects have bravely sacrificed themselves. They did not die in vain because they have bought me enough time. Come out, my companions,” the humanoid monster said with a voice that belonged to Reckless Rampage.

From three sides of the “return” corridor, three monsters slowly emerged.

They were:

The Seductive Maiden with a human torso and spider abdomen, her upper body was a fair-skinned and voluptuous figure, bare and unadorned, with ample round fat exposed, and a striking appearance. Below her navel, was a bloated spider body, with eight iron-pike-like spider legs that easily pierced the floor tiles and walls.

The muscular insectoid being, standing upright like a human, had blocky abs and pectoral muscles, with knees that bent backward and strong leg muscles, hinting at a terrifying jumping power. On its back were hard wing cases, emitting a faint blue glow.

The Human-Headed Serpent, nearly ten meters long, coiled itself, its body covered in dark blue scales, leaning out from the railing and hissing at the people below.

All three monsters had one thing in common: their eyes brimmed with violence and lacked human rationality.

“They are all Servants of the Sinister Eye Judge, tormented by the power of the Fallen Grail. To survive, they willingly let me transform them, to hunt you down for Merit,” Reckless Rampage said with a laugh.

Servants of the Sinister Eye Judge? The same kind of Servants as Ou Xiangrong? Zhang Yuanqing’s mind was filled with disbelief.

Green Vine, Tang Guoqiang, and the others’ complexions changed dramatically.

“I love the look on your faces. You’re all going to die today, no one gets to stay. I said so!” Reckless Rampage opened his monstrous mouthparts.

In the Fenghua District, an abandoned factory.

Fu Qingyang, dressed in a white suit, stood on the second floor of the administrative building, looking at the convoy that surrounded the factory, and frowned, “This factory has been abandoned for many years, with no signs of human activity. Are you sure the Black Guards of Impermanence showed up here?”

Behind him was Ling Jun, dressed in a loose single garment with disheveled hair, and a middle-aged man in a white judo uniform with a square face.

The middle-aged man frowned, his eyes slightly confused, “The informant from the Blossom Society captured it. To be safe, I reviewed the surrounding surveillance and indeed spotted the Black Guards of Impermanence.”

Fu Qingyang gave him a cold sideways glance: “The Black Guards of Impermanence can be caught on camera?”

The middle-aged man’s face changed slightly.

Ling Jun scratched his head lazily, shrugged, and said, “We’ve been tricked. The Black Guards of Impermanence deliberately lured us here. Well, whether it’s actually them is still uncertain, but what are they luring us here for?”

Fu Qingyang pondered for a few seconds, his stern face suddenly changed: “Ling Jun, come back with me.”

He leaped down directly from the second floor.

Ling Jun was stunned; he rarely saw Fu Qingyang in such a hurry and tense.
