Doctor Murong

Qi Bei entered the tent again and was met with angry glares from Ru Feng and Piao Xue. Yan Ling was also visibly angry, with her face turning red, but she avoided making eye contact with him.

Qi Bei was not sure what the three elves were capable of, especially since they were in the West Spirit City. He could not afford to undo the binding magic on them, so apart from their eyes and mouth, they could not move any other part of their body.

“Cough, don’t stare at me so hungrily. I’m pure as jade and not interested in you,” Qi Bei cleared his throat and said, trying to maintain his composure.

“You can’t be any more shameless,” Yan Ling retorted, still feeling embarrassed after he peeked at her earlier.

“You villain, let us go!” Piao Xue demanded angrily.

“Yeah, let us go, or the Star Master won’t spare you!” Ru Feng added.

Perhaps they knew that Qi Bei would not harm them, Piao Xue and Ru Feng were not so afraid of him anymore.

Qi Bei sat down on the cushion in the tent, kicked off his boots, and lazily said, “Don’t worry, I’ll release you soon. But you guys eat so much, I can’t afford to feed you.”

The three elves blushed at his comment. They were at the age where their bodies were growing rapidly, and their appetites had increased significantly in the last few years. People who did not understand elves thought they only ate sweet dew and spirit fruit, but in fact, elves only had such a diet after they had reached adulthood.

“Have you found the Star Master?” Yan Ling asked.

“Not yet, but I should find him soon,” Qi Bei replied, resting his hands behind his head and propping his feet up.

“Indeed, as long as you release the news that we are in your hands, the Star Master will definitely meet you,” Yan Ling said, realizing Qi Bei’s intentions.

“Hehe, that was my plan at first, but I suddenly thought that a vague alliance was too petty. If we’re going to work together, we should cooperate closely and deeply. After all, the West Spirit City is my base, and I don’t want any mishaps in the future,” Qi Bei said with a sly grin, emphasizing the words “closely” and “deeply.”

“I advise you not to be too clever. If you anger the Star Master, you will regret it,” Yan Ling warned in a cold voice.

Qi Bei chuckled and did not say anything else. From Yan Ling’s tone, he could tell that their Star Master was not someone to be trifled with. But so what? The West Spirit City was his domain, the first foothold he established in this world. Whoever stood in his way would be crushed!

Yan Ling trembled at the killing intent in Qi Bei’s eyes. It seemed that the West Spirit City was going to be bathed in blood soon.

………

In the Western District of the city, there is a slum just like any other city, and it is a gathering place for the lowest level of society.

Every winter, there are many elderly and children who freeze to death in the slums.

In an old two-story building in the West City District, dim lights were still on. Ten simple wooden beds were placed on the first floor, and they were filled with patients who were thin and shivering, as well as a dozen or so people wrapped in old cotton clothes, most of whom were elderly and children.

A wooden wheelchair came out from the inner room, with a woman sitting on it. The woman’s face was covered with gauze, wearing a headscarf, and even her hands are covered with a pair of thin black gloves, revealing only a pair of eyes bright as stars.

Some of the awake patients and their family members look at her with respectful and grateful eyes. No one spoke, but everything was understood without words.

“Bang bang bang!” At this moment, a hurried knocking sound came from the door.

“Doctor Murong, please open the door and save my child,” a woman’s crying voice came from outside.

A rough-looking maid hurriedly went to open the door, and a ragged woman rushed in holding a two or three-year-old girl wrapped in a tattered coat in a bundle. She knelt down in front of the woman in the wheelchair, crying, “Save my child, save my child.”

The girl was emaciated, her skin had turned purple, and her breathing was barely audible.

“Xiaolu, quickly bring my medicine box over,” the woman in the wheelchair said urgently, her voice as crisp as a fairy’s.

The maid handed over a medicine box, and the woman opened a porcelain bottle inside and poured out several different pills. She pinched open the girl’s mouth and poured them down.

“Take her to the fire and keep her warm,” the woman said.

“Thank you, Doctor Murong, thank you…,” the woman thanked her profusely while holding her child.

Doctor Murong opened this clinic here three years ago. Nobody knew her real name or what she looked like. Those who come to see her were all from the slums, and most of them could not afford to pay for medical treatment. But Doctor Murong never asked them for money. If someone had some money, they would pay a few copper coins. If they didn’t, she would still treat them for free.

“Doctor Murong, please come and see my wife, she’s almost gone.” A middle-aged man with a thin and pale face suddenly shouted loudly.

Doctor Murong quickly came to his side and touched the cold forehead of the woman lying on the wooden bed. She was already beyond saving.

“Doctor Murong, please save her, please, my son can’t be without a mother.” The man knelt on the ground and kept kowtowing.

Doctor Murong’s beautiful eyes showed a painful expression. One of her hands hanging by the wheelchair emitted a faint green light, but as she clenched her hand, the light disappeared in an instant.

“I’m sorry, I’m powerless.” Doctor Murong closed her eyes and kept the pain in them.

Sitting in the wheelchair, she came to the stairwell and lightly grasped the back of the wheelchair. The wheelchair carried her up the stairs as if on flat ground.

At the window on the second floor, Doctor Murong looked at the raging snowstorm outside and sighed lightly. She didn’t know how many people would die in this storm.

In these three years, she had witnessed life and death, but she still couldn’t see through it.

Just then, a small green bird flew from the snowstorm and pecked at the second-floor window with its beak.

Doctor Murong raised her hand and the window opened by itself. The green bird flew in and landed in her palm.

The bird chirped incessantly and Doctor Murong’s starry eyes were covered with a thick dark cloud. The light in her eyes disappeared, replaced by a chilling death aura.

“Tell Qingmu to assemble Star Mercenary Corps and let him bring Bisha to surround the sheltered valley. Xiaocui, you go to the valley to check the aura of Yan Ling, Ru Feng, and Piao Xue.” Doctor Murong sounded like a completely different person, her tone filled with cold killing intent.
