Tong! Tong! Tong!

"HEY YOU B*STARDS! OVER HERE! FOLLOW YOUR GREAT SUPREME FATHER TO KILL YOURSELF, YOU LITTLE SH*TS!" (Chai)

Running around in steady pace, undead upon undead followed behind him.

Chai and Zack's tasks were to attract every single living dead around the vicinity.

Chai started by running counter-clockwise around the Fire Station's radius, and Zack the opposite.

They both held a megaphone on their right hand, and a Cooking Pot strapped with a ladle. It made the 'Tong' sound like a castanet.

Shrieks and moans howled wildly in the air.

Two delicious 'meals' await them once they caught up.

'Two..four…almost three hundred of them.' (Zack)

Looking back every ten seconds, Zack estimated the number of zombies following him.

To make sure their success rate is higher, he upgraded two sets of skills.

[ Upgraded Kryptonian Physique! ]

[Kryptonian Physique (Lv.2) : Solar Energy storing enabled. Overall enhancement of total anatomy.]

[ Upgraded Super Strength! ]

[Super Strength (Lv.2) : Increase in overall physical strength.]

[HERO EXP: 57]

{Phoenix, come in! We're almost in position! Get ready!} (Zack)

{Alright! Waiting for your signal!} (Jen)

Jennifer was assigned to do two tasks.

Rumble. Rumble.

Stampedes from several hundred of zombie hordes followed the men closely from behind.

Zack and Chai finally reached their meeting point: the Fire Station's front gate!

{PHOENIX!! Shoot them!!!} (Zack)

'HERE GOES NOTHING!' (Jen)

Right after the signal, Zack and Chai who were about to collide with the zombies inside the Fire Station…jumped up with all their might!

"HIIIYEAAAHHHHH! TAKE THEM!!!" (Jen)

WHOOSH!

Two steel pipes, 8 meters in length each floated up and launched themselves from the roof where Jen was!

Beads of sweats appeared on Jennifer's dazzling face. She was controlling the pipes' trajectories towards Chai and Zack that was right in the middle of the air!

ROOOARR!

WARRRGGGHHK!

Seas of zombies raised up their white-ash colored arms, waiting for two pieces of fresh meat to drop right into their mouths.

KLANG! GRAB!

"NOW!!" (Jen)

Chai and Zack successfully catched the steel pipes, and stabbed them as hard as they could to the ground!

Borrowing the force of their jump, the steel pipes bent at an impossible angle…and catapulted those two right beyond the zombie swarm below them!

CRACK. CRACK.

CRAAAAAAAASSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

The 300-meter radius around the Fire Station SirenTower COLLAPSED!

Hundreds and hundreds of living corpses fell right into the massive trapping pit they laboriously dug!

With a depth of three and a half meters, they are most likely immobilized for a set of time.

The purpose of the trap was to contain the zombies for the big finale.

SPLASH!

DUSHHHHH!!!

The water tank on the Living Quarters burst open, and Jennifer used her power to control gallons of water to the pit!

Next, the fire hydrants around the compound exploded!

Underground pipes started appear inside the pit, and water flooded the man-made hole.

Being the unintelligent beings they are, the zombies does not know how to coordinate their body to swim.

CRAAAASSSHHHHHH!!!!

Zack and Chai landed not far away with each other.

Quickly getting up on their feet, Zack communicated with Jennifer which held Chai's radio communication earpiece.

{Phoenix! How's the situation?!} (Zack)

{The zombies are mostly submerged, but none of them are dying!} (Jen)

'This means that they do not drown then. Probably just can't swim.' (Zack)

{Commence the 'Shocking'!} (Zack)

Once she received his message, Jennifer closed her eyes and began feeling up the ground underneath the zombie trap pit.

"Ugh!" (Jen)

She felt a sharp pain in her head as she tried to extract objects from the ground to the pit.

Gritting her teeth, her arms trembled as if she was lifting very heavy objects.

Her breathing became rough, she does not know if she could do it any longer.

"I'm here, Jennifer. You can do this. I believe in you."

A mellow, manly voice spoke up in her mind.

Wet hot tears trickled her soft cheeks, unbeknownst to her.

'Danny.'

With the echo of the subconscious voice, a great power rose up within her soul.

SNAP! SNAP! SNAP!

ZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP! KTISH TAK TAK TAK!

Wails and death throes of the monsters permeated the sky. Bluish and purple strips appeared on the bodies.

The siren that rang for the longest of times was finally dead.

Horrendous smell of charred flesh and boiled meat wafted around the pit.

{Phoenix! Are all them fried?} (Zack)

No answer.

Zack tried to call her a few times, but it was as if there was no one there.

"Dude, let's go get her." (Chai)

Zack nodded and they rushed to the Storage Building's roof.

Arriving at the roof, they saw a woman in a tattered dress laid down unconscious.

"Hey! Jen! Wake up! HEY!" (Zack)

He lifted her upper body and positioned in a sitting position.

She passed out from overexerting her powers.

Chai felt her pulse. "Bruh, she's still alive. It's beating steadily too."

Overlooking the roof, bodies upon bodies filled up the death-trap pit. Each and every single one of them were as dead as a doornail.

Death by electrocution.

"These sh*tty things can die as easily as humans, ey. Well, looks like humans might win this war in the long run." (Chai)

They were not even sure if the plan could work. If they released the water before the trap collapsed, the air bubble could still withheld the weight because of the pressure.

If they cut the underground electric wires before the zombies were trapped, the fall of the upper surface of the trap might have negated the electric currents.

Having a telekinetic was the perfect piece of the puzzle. The water could be added on top of the zombies, making sure all of them were moisturized.

That gave access for the electric currents to flow in the water evenly through the impurities mixed in the liquid.

In turn, the electric currents shocked the tissues of the undead inside-and-outside, including their brains.

Jumping down the roof, the three of them ran to a commercial complex on the east direction from the Fire Station.

The roads were quiet and desolate. There were no more moans from the zombies. No more sirens or alarms were heard.

***

'No.'

'No, Danny. You can't go.'

'Danny, I need you! Please, don't goooooooo!!'

"HUP!"

Her frantic eyes opened wide. She looked around her.

'Was all that a dream?'

She slowly calmed down. Wiping her brows, drips of sweat was caught by the back of her fair, pearl-skinned hands.

'It feels so uncomfortable. And I smell.'

She knew that everything that has happened the past three days were real.

Her eyes stung. All the crying dried out her tears and moisture.

Nothing came out of her tear ducts, no matter how sad she felt right now.

"W-water.."

Her parched throat made her got up from the couch she slept on.

Scanning around the dimly lit room, no drinking water was found.

The small 70 square-feet room was bare, except of the couch.

'Were Chai and Zack real?'

There were no sounds coming from door. She walked towards it and grabbed the door knob.

Silence. She looked out the corridor.

She began to think that either she was in a lucid dream and she dreamt of them, or she had experienced a hallucination.

'Maybe they just simply…left.'

Her heart felt sorrowed.

She felt so alone in this world.

She lost her fiancé. She couldn't contact her family members and friends.

Even the two men that helped her seemed to have vanished, as if they were never there before.

After sobbing for a while, she picked up herself and walked down the stairs.

'Where is this place? I was at the Fire Station previously.'

Bright, red lights pervaded the ground floor through the windows and the doors.

She sighed. 'So everything were real.'

Cubicles, offices and desks were neatly place on the ground floor.

'This must've been an office.'

She tried to switch on the lights, but there were no reactions.

While fumbling around, she was a section of the area where it has a kitchen-related items. It was the office's pantry.

Instinctually, she started to pick up speed towards the pantry's sink and turned the faucet lever up.

"Haa…haa…umm- *cough!* *cough!*"

She gobbled the tap water so fast that she choked herself.

After quenching her thirst, she opened up the pantry's refrigerator.

Disappointed, she closed the empty refrigerator's door back.

'Ugh…what I'm I going to do about food…'

Her rumbling stomach did not help her soothe the situation.

"Ah!"

Suddenly she remembered something.

'No harm trying, right? Even though it was just a dream…'

"J-Jean Grey."

Her status screen appeared. With bulging eyes, she gulped at how surreal everything was.

'Then…'

KLANGG!

A white mug dropped down the floor when Jennifer casually thought of moving it with her mind.

'Holy sh-'

CREAAAAAAK

The sound of a wooden door opening startled her.

Like a curious cat, she slowly approached the source of the sound.

Two shadows loomed over the crimson light shining from the outside.

'I can do this! I'm not going to become a helpless person anymore!'

She locked on her eyes to several utensils and cutleries, and made them levitate in front of her. She was prepared to stab her enemies as self-defense.

When the figures came into view, she was stunned.

"Jen? Something's wrong?"

The knives and forks she was controlling immediately shambled down to the ground.

Without any hesitation, she ran towards the person with all her might.

"ZAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!" (Jen)

"Hey, what's wrong Jen? What happened?" (Zack)

The auburn-haired beauty hugged the masculine model-like man and cried her hearts out.

It took a while for her to settle down.

***

" *munch* This *munch* is *munch* so *munch* good! *munch* Thank-" (Jen)

"Jeez, Jenny, I know you're hungry but you'll choke if keep talking while eating, man." (Chai)

In the few hours she passed out, Zack and Chai went scouring around the area for food.

They found a few restaurants that still had food stored inside.

After having their fill, they cooked the foodstuffs properly as there were no zombie threats on their neck.

"You weren't waking up no matter what we did. You kept screaming Danny's name in your sleep. At the very least we know that you still had energy." (Zack)

"Yeah, you're one lucky gal. Zack even wanted to stay behind to take care of you." (Chai)

"Bro!" (Zack).

Chai just was kidding, but there seemed to be a little awkwardness between the two.

With a full belly and a good rest, Jennifer felt satisfied.

"You said you two cooked this? It was so good!" (Jen)

"Thank Chai for that. He did most of the cooking, I was clumsily destroying kitchen utensils and ingredients." (Zack)

"Wow…on top of being beautiful, you can cook too? You must be the nation's ideal daugh- I mean, son-in-law!" (Jen)

"Heh, isn't it natural that a man should know how to cook? No offense bro, you're having trouble controlling your strength from the [Super Strength] upgrade…so yeah." (Chai)

*Sigh* "Yeah…I didn't expect that the upgrade is so tremendous. I'd have to focus more than usual to just not break the door handle." (Zack)

What happened to Jean and Zack gave a new insight to their powers.

Without proper familiarization and control, abilities proved to be a handful to handle.

Even worst, it could render you defenseless after you have exerted yourself.

"Jen, whatcha gonna do from now?" (Chai)

His question struck her heart's string.

'I lost Danny. My job…no way that anything works like normal again, right? What am I going to do…' (Jen)

Jennifer grew up in an orphanage. Apparently she was given up for adoption as her mother was a teenager when she had her.

She was one of the few who did not get selected to be adopted, up until the age of 18.

Coming out to the world, she worked hard to support herself and her studies.

College was where she met her fiancé, Danny.

They fell in love at first sight and decided to be engaged once they graduated.

The crimson sky wailed with cruelty. The apocalypse took away the biggest reason she kept living on.

Looking at her looking down in sorrow, Chai nudged his best friend with his elbow.

Sending signals with his eyes, Zack immediately picked it up…but he hesitated.

After a series of stares from Chai, and a mild kick to his as*, Zack spoke up.

"J-Jen! I think it would be best if you could find a base that could provide supplies and protect you. Furthermore, with your capabilities, I'm sure you'd be highly valued as y- ouch!" (Zack)

"Jenny, what my brother here wants to say is that you're should come with us. We'll take care of your back, and you take care of ours. We cool?" (Chai)

After knuckle-ing Zack's head and glared at him with a hand gesture of 'Do-you-need-to-talk-that-much?' ,he immediately filled in for his best friend's long-winded speech.

Gazing at the two dreamy man, she went silent for a few seconds before whole-heartedly agreed.

"Awesome. So we'll be teammates from now on. As our teammates, you can't fall behind, okay? We're counting on ya!" (Chai)

Jennifer nodded her mesmerizing head in conformance.

Zack, on the other hand had a smile in the corner of his lips…and pumped his fist in the air inside his heart.

Their next move is to re-group with Joy, Annie and Melissa.

Looking at the offline Map in the iPhone, the Air Force Base was approximately two kilometers from their location.

"Entrance to the base is 500 meters ahead. The base, however, is another one and a half kilometers from the entrance." (Zack)

By logic, the three ladies would technically be looking for Zack and Chai after arriving to the base.

"Dude, something's really fishy. Knowing Mel, she would've been on a chopper right now looking for us." (Chai). Zack nodded in agreement.

Speculating every possible situation that could have happened, Zack and Chai began discussing countermeasures.

"Everyone, search for anything that could be used for weapons. Gather up everything that you feel useful, we might have to…fight other people this time." (Zack)

There were fourteen double-stories shop lots where they were.

The shop they were currently at was an interior designing firm, albeit the lack of furnitures on the second floor because it was a newly opened one.

Scouring the remaining thirteen shops, they piled up their findings. They were divided into weapons, food, water, medicine, utilities and gears.

After properly packaging them into bags and rucksacks, the men will take the heavy items and Jennifer will carry the lighter ones.

"We'll approach the outer perimeter of the Air Force base. I'll be scouting ahead, you guys will stay 300 meters away from the base."

Zack zoomed in the Map and drew a red, bright 'X' on it.

"This is where we'll be splitting up. Remember! Do not engage first, our prime objective is to find Mel, Joy and Annie!" (Zack)
