“Heyho your favourite warden! How are we doing today?” I asked, pulling a rather heavy roller cabinet into the room.

“Great.” He simply said, sitting in the corner of the room and looking at me unhappily.

“That’s nice to hear.” I said, opened the first drawer and took out a bottle of blood which I directly put down on the floor and opened the lid. The very tempting smell of human blood filled the room within an instant, stimulating the nostrils of my prisoner. “How about this. If you answer my questions, I give you this bottle of blood.”

“I refuse.” Well, that was a pity.

“Eh? And I thought that was a sure fire way to get a newborn vampire. Well, anyways it’s not as if I netted anything on that.” I said, and opened the next drawer while keeping my gaze on him. “I also have this.” I said and held the item my hands felt moments prior in the air. Maybe I should have checked what it was beforehand because my prisoner was quite amused with my choice of torture device.

“Why are you showing me a sex toy?” He said, forcing me to look at the thing in my hands. It was definitely to soft to hurt anyone with that …

“Ehm … could you forget about that? You know, my underling is quite the kinky freak and may have mistook the cabinet for real torture devices for her kinky one. Let me check it … alright, the second drawer is correct. Wow, it even as something made for vampires! What a surprise.” I said and lifted up a dagger made from holy silver with my gloved right hand. I was already walking towards him when I said my next sentence slowly.

“I heard this thing here is a religious item stolen from the church of light three hundred years ago … but nobody knows for sure. What I do know though is that it hurts way more than it should.” I said and grinned happily.

“I will not b-“ He said, but had to start screaming as I placed the flat side of the blade against his arm. It seemed to burn through his skin rather nicely and I could even see a bit of ash here and there, which was also why I stopped shortly afterwards.

“Want to talk?” I asked, pulling him downwards so that he sat on the ground, leaning against the bloodied crude wall.

“I –“ He said, but I could already see he wasn’t willing to talk yet. And so, I did exactly the same to his other arm until I felt the bone touching the blade.

“Now, maybe?” I asked and knelt down with his legs beneath my butt.

“I … I was trained for this moment.”

“Oh? How interesting.” I said grabbed behind me and got a hold of his left leg. Turning around, I stabbed the holy dagger into his flesh until it pierced through the other side. I wasn’t too worried he would be able to grab it with his useless arms and thus let go of it to face him. “You do realise I can heal you all I want?”

He still screamed loudly and shook his head in pain while I saddled his legs completely and put my hands on his shoulder. Only as I heard the dagger touching the ground did he calm down somewhat, probably because all of his nerve endings were burned as well.

“Should I recite you another part of the book? Vampires used to live alone for the most part but on very specific days, the direct family, meaning the master and his servants, gathered if possible. Not to hunt humans or anything in that direction, but rather to make love. The bond they shared with their master and which each other was so strong that most of them put their rivalries aside for that day and enjoyed each other’s affection. Isn’t that lovely?”

“If you want to make love with me, you just have to say so.” Leonard said, turning away from the back of my hand caressing his cheek.

“Quite the contrary. Before I started feeding you, I thought that we could get along rather well. I thought that a bond would form between us, but that didn’t happen at all. Instead, I felt disgusted raising the child of another person. You are a bastard. Not belonging to any bloodline whatsoever. Not mine, nor the one the demon king intended for you. It goes against my very nature to feed you, to raise you as my own and even to touch you.” I said, tracing his neck until I was at his right shoulder. My heart was filled with disgust for him the whole time, but that didn’t stop me to do what I needed to.

“Then kill me.” If it was that easy I would have done so long ago.

“Oh, don’t worry. A stray mutt will be put down eventually, but first you need to tell me everything you know.” I said and closed my eyes just as he spit at me. A bit angrily, I grabbed his throat and dug my nails into his skin right away, only stopping as I had wiped off the spit with my other hand.

“Ahh, the good old spitting in defiance. I want to see more.” I hissed angrily, grabbing the side of his head with both of my hands and pushing my thumbs into his eye sockets. All kinds of liquid spewed in my direction as he screamed loudly while I pushed further and further in until I reached the point where he would die from it. Only then did I let go of him, took the dagger from behind me and threw it over to the rolling cabinet.

Grabbing his jaw, I forced his head back and opened his mouth once more. Using my sharp canines, I bit into my own thumb and pushed it inside his mouth like I did before. Minutes went by as his instincts overtook his mind and he sucked on my blood, restoring him back to full health. Even his eyeballs regrew, let alone the wounds I did with the dagger.

“Are you still not willing to talk?” I asked and smiled brilliantly.

“Stone spear.” He chanted, touching the ground to his right, only to howl in pain immediately afterwards.

“Are you an idiot? Have you never heard a about magic suppressing collars?” I asked and stood up from his thighs. Strolling back towards the cart, I opened the third drawer I personally filled and picked out a thin needle with yawn attached to it.

Going back towards him, I already had in mind what I wanted to do. “Did you know that humans use these to stitch up their wounds? As a vampire and half goddess, it never crossed my mind that they would need something like this if no healer was around. But hey, I’m open for new stuff, which is also why I adapted this idea to fit my own uses. This is a normal yawn … but it is coated in a very special silver. So, where should I start?”

“Fuck you!” He screamed at me and tried to stand up weakly, but was quickly crushed by the heel crushing his hand.

“I’m actually thinking of doing that later. But that’s a nice idea!” I said, sat down on his legs with my knees by his waist and grabbed his face, only to ram the back of his head repeatedly into the wall until he fell unconscious.

And then, I started stitching from his waist up until his chest, then downwards again and because I felt like it, I turned him around and stitched a circle onto his back with the special yarn. It already started steaming from just that and his skin started to rot away in the places I had woven the yarn into his body but it didn’t seem as if it hurt too much. A bit bummed out by this, I wondered it the fine silver particles would spread through his whole body and quickly went back to my wonder cabinet.

Humming happily, I took out a bottle of water and strolled back quickly. After turning him around, I forced his mouth open and emptied the contents on his face after I took away my arm. Part of it landed in his mouth, but he did very well in not swallowing any of the holy water.

Screaming and with a burning face, Leonardo woke up again and shook violently. He was having a seizure right in front of me which thrilled me immensely. After walking back to the chair, I sat down on it and crossed my legs while he started scratching every part of his body.

“Oh, I maybe should have told you that the silver on the yarn is more like a fine powder which disperses after coming in contact with a liquid.” I chuckled happily as he screamed his life out of his lungs which probably felt on fire as well.

For ten minutes straight, he was tortured by his own blood and the holy water on his face which slowly corroded away his skin. After that though, his scratching and seizures lessened considerably and he pressed his fists onto the ground, his face half eaten up by the acid and his innards messed up by the silver that lost all of its effects.

A bit annoyed, I walked back towards him and fed him once more with enough of my blood to heal all the wounds.

“So, do you want to talk now? I’m really starting to worry about your soul as well, you know? It’s hard to imagine it not being damaged after all of this…”

[collapse]

“I … I will talk.”

“Great! Or rather what a pity? Anyways, you said you were somehow special in any way?”

“I … I was meant to become one of the demon generals.”

“Ohh … what does that mean?”

“I would be on top of all demons, just beneath the demon king himself. If my transformation had worked …”

“Did he create any other new demonic races? Or did he turn humans into already existing ones?”

“What? No. Not that I know.”

“Then, lad, you were nothing more than a test subject.”

“That’s not true!”

“Why do you even defend him? He probably slaughtered your loved ones, didn’t he?”

“What are you talking about? He didn’t attack anyone so far. They are all safe in the demon king’s castle.” I had never heard a such bullshit before. There was definite proof that nearly all the villages in the north were destroyed and their inhabitants slaughtered. Hannah had seen it with her own eyes, so that could only mean his reality looked completely different than mine.

“Okay … I do have my doubts about that, but you don’t seem to lie. So, where is this castle capable of housing all the inhabitants of the north?”

“It is on the north… norther-“ Something wasn’t right. Foam started appearing from inside his mouth and he started holding his throat in anguish. Quickly, I stood up from my chair and dashed towards him. His chest lifted and sunk rapidly under my hand and his his whole body started to tremble uncontrollably. His eyes focused on nothing and darted through the whole room rapidly with very wide pupils.

I had never seen such a thing before and was completely dumbfounded as he started coughing up blood violently. As quickly as possible, I bit into my own hand in an attempt to give him my blood, but it was futile as he couldn’t drink it.

And then, he shook one last time and death filled the room.

“You can’t escape me like this.” I said, right as four black tendrils appeared out of the earth and stuck into the corpse, lifting up the soul of him in front of me. He was still completely motionlessly for the time being, but that wasn’t a problem for me.

“How the fuck did you die?” I asked angrily and snipped my fingers to return him to normal.

“I … I died?” He asked looking down at his copse. All in all that must have been a pretty darn surreal experience for him, but it’s not that I cared. I also didn’t care about the cracks on his body, nor that he was leaking mana out of his soul at a fast pace.

“Answer the question.” I commanded angrily. The death in the room increased several fold which did surprise me somewhat. Part of it was my doing, but it shouldn’t be this much.

“I don’t know.” He said and blinked a few times as his mouth moved in its own. Annoyed by all of this, I walked back to my chair while death still spread through the room at an intensity I never felt if either Aska or me didn’t go all out.

“Great, and now…” Furrowing my brows, I noticed how the ground turned into black tar around Leonardo quickly. More and more pitch black tendrils shot out from the ground, pulling Leonardo’s soul down while mine kept him upwards.

“No, you don’t!” I shouted, death sweeping out of my like a wave, manifesting in many tendrils which bore into Leonardo’s soul which was already halfway into the tar. It wasn’t my first battle with death itself, but it was the first one where Aska actually gave his best.

Spears shot out from the ground, tearing through my magic slowly. But I was already running back towards the soul, decreasing the time I needed to manifest new tendrils around me and lock them around Leonardo.

It still felt like an unwinnable fight as his should felt heavier and heavier by the second. Just as his shoulders vanished into the ground and Leonardo looked at me victoriously, I grabbed his head and pulled on it as much as I could. Completely unlike Leonardo, my feet didn’t sink into the ground and for a second, I halted his sinking. But the force increased yet again, dragging Leonardo beneath the ground.

“Fuck!” I screamed, created more tendrils around me and shot them where the others were still connected to the soul. Seconds later, the black tar around me vanished and all my tendrils were cut apart. The portal to purgatory had been closed.

“Fuck! Fuck! FUCK!” I screamed loudly, stomped at the ground and concentrated on the next step I could take.

“Rise you fuckers. RISE!” Aska’s portal to purgatory had been closed, but that didn’t mean I couldn’t access it. The whole floor turned into black tar in an instant. It merely took two seconds for the first blue orb to appear. Two and a millisecond for the tenth. And less than two and a half seconds for the millionth.

The room was filled with blue orbs floating around aimlessly as I searched for the one. The one that could answer my questions. The one who Aska didn’t want me to interrogate.

“FUCK!” But I couldn’t find him anywhere. Millions of souls streamed out of my portal, all scanned by me within an instant until sank down to the ground with a bleeding nose and a reddened vision. “I’ll kill you! I’ll fucking tear you apart!” I shouted towards the ground, my vision completely blocked by the blue orbs floating around me. Hammering onto the ground once to vent my anger at least a little bit, I set all of those souls free and dragged those who couldn’t find a new body right away back into purgatory.

The whole thing merely took a few seconds, but it was more than enough to tear my soul apart once more. I was furious about Aska, furious about myself and slammed the ground with my fist.

“FUCK!” Fury enveloped me completely and I may have lost my sense of reasoning for a little. But it was justified and I certainly needed something to vent my anger. Instinctively, I emitted even more death until it started overshadowing everything else around me. Air was overlapped by death as I concentrated all of my fury on the door. Metal was pushed away by death as the door shot through the air. And earth was eradicated as death seeped into it.

Coughing up a swath of blood, I stared at the devastation I caused in front of me. The small pieces of metal that were the door once were sunken deeply into the other side of the wall … of the other room that it. A multitude of cages were completely wrecked by my attack and a whole lot of cracks were visible all around me.

Hammering the ground once more, I turned around to look at the corpse. Angrily, I robbed over to it with the bit of strength I had left and started tearing its ribcage open with my fingers.

And then, I found part of the reason for my anger. A magical circle was engraved into Leonardo’s lung, completely unreadable thanks to the damage it caused to the corpse.

Closing my eyes, I tried calming down as I noticed rushed steps coming down towards me. Not a minute later, Hannah dashed through the large hall, carried by her feet and the wind itself.

“Lucinda? Are you alright?” Was I? I had just lost the chance to do anything with the fortunate encounter Hannah’s troops had with Leonardo.

“No … I’m angry and I’m bleeding for at least ten more minutes.” I complained, pinching my nose a little as blood was still running out of it.

“Was that … was that you?” Hannah asked a bit astonished after she looked back at the wave of destruction I had caused.

“No it was Santa Clause.” I answered unhappily.

“So it was you … I hope you are aware that I felt as if death was creeping on me on the way down.” I knew my magic better than her, that much was clear. I knew very well why I would never use this magic close to anyone else. Not only could they see the death manifesting in reality, but it also radiated into their very core of existence.

“And so did everyone at the academy at least … fuck that was dumb.” I said and hammered the ground once more. I certainly shouldn’t have done that …

“What happened?” Hannah asked concerned.

“I didn’t think the demons were given a magical circle which automatically kills them one they spill any kind of vital information, nor did I know that Aska could interfere in this world the way he did. And being as furious as I was, I may have overreacted a little.” I admitted and finally calmed down enough to stand up and give her a rather wry smile.

“And you really are alright now?” Hannah asked slowly, carefully touching my shoulder as she knew I was very dangerous to everyone when I was angry.

“No, Hannah, I’m not. I’m pissed. At least I now know that I need to change my plans considerably. No more talking it over with the demon king, no more cooperation … he is one of my many enemies. And eventually, I’ll crush him after I blocked Aska from ever coming to this world.” I growled unhappily. It was obvious Aska supported the demon king for some reason, but I doubted they had made an alliance or so. Not after what I read on this pesky letter Louis and the others got.

‘The gods are the reason for our misery.’ was written there. At least that meant the demons were also against Aska, the worst offender of the bunch.
