“Ahh! It’s too much!” I said a bit depressed looking at my finished timetable in one of the working spaces of the castle. Placing my forehead onto the table, I closed my tired eyes and shielded them from the sun this way.

“Lu … is everything alright?” Luna asked, trying out her magic once more which failed miserably. Her nose began to bleed right away, but luckily she had a few tissues at hand right away.

“Nope. Not at all. The plan is to start in around a month, but it is way harder than I thought it to be. There is just so much to do …” I mumbled, looking over the more than filled timetable once more.

“Can I help you in any way?” She asked rather concerned and drank a bit of tea to get rid of the tiredness.

“That … actually, you might be able to. Can you talk to that blacksmith for me? And I need someone who makes sure that the stuff I order is delivered in the right quantity and quality.” I said, eyeing a few meetings I had scheduled with hope.

“I can do that! And if anyone questions my authority, I will just show them my ‘Saints Supporter’ title!” Well, at least that came in handy at some point.

“Let’s do that!” I said, stood up from my chair and rushed towards her happily. I basically threw myself at her and hugged her tightly, forcing her to be my pillow once again. Her warmth was so intoxicating that I couldn’t help myself but to close my eyes for a little and enjoy how she caressed my back.

“I’m so lucky to have you.” I said happily and captured one of her legs with mine.

“What about Hannah and the others?” Luna asked, placing her forehead on mine as I looked upwards.

“Hannah is already busy with the tasks I gave her and the others are busy training.” And, I also wouldn’t give them a single document to fill out. Going by their personalities, it could only end badly. Well, Sofie and Ellie could possibly do a bit of paperwork, but I doubted they had the motivation for it. “And that leaves only you and the few bureaucrats the king gave me. If you don’t mind …”

“I’ll do anything for you.” She claimed right away, warming my heart considerably. Rolling off her, I hugged her from the side for a bit and rested my cheeks on her shoulder.

“Thank you.” I muttered, but stood up quickly afterwards. It wasn’t that I didn’t desire to cuddle with her, but I had to hurry to my next appointment right away. “See you around!” I said, dashing towards the door quickly. Out there, I nearly bumped into a familiar maid who guided me towards the dressing room where everything was nagged about by several older woman who took care of my hair and dress for me. Deeply annoyed, I could only bear it until they placed a crown on my head and allowed me to walk towards the throne room.

Taking a deep breath in front of the majestic doors, I nodded towards the nearest guard who opened them magically. With my chin held high, I walked past advisors, ministers, nobles and bishops alike. All the powerful people were kneeling inside the room to listen to me … with the exception of a few of course. Most notably the king was missing, leaving one of the two thrones completely empty.

He didn’t want to be associated with my war at all, mostly because he thought it would fail. And honestly, I couldn’t even blame him for that. It allowed me to do whatever I wished to do, as long as it was linked to the war.

Gracefully sitting on the right throne, I nodded towards the hundred or so people down below. “You may rise.”

Row by row, they stood up from their kneeling position and faced me directly.

“I’m the stories of my past, I was never seen as a person who enjoyed war. In fact, the war between the elves and humans was troubling me daily and so I made the first step to reconcile our races by taking an elf under my wing.

And let me tell you this: I wish the demons would be willing to negotiate. I wish they could be asked to live with us peacefully. But I don’t think that is possible. I had met two of their demon generals, their strongest and intelligent demons which are indeed capable of speech. They could have been reasoned with … but none of them showed any interest in peace.

Instead, they had attacked where it hurts us the most. One of them had targeted our children and could only be teleported away by someone we know very well. They had struck in the centre of our civilisation.

It is time for us to draw a line. Eight years ago they took the distant north. Daily, they are attacking our line of defence. Daily, they are threatening our lives and daily, they are taking the life of our heroes at the front line.

And I say it is enough. Two weeks from now, I will select a group of for to lead the charge against the demon king. They will have the most difficult time of all and therefore, I will only select the strongest in their respective fields.

But that doesn’t mean we can burden for of us with such a task alone. I will personally lead an army consisting of adventurers and soldiers alike into the demon territory.

And I will make sure we are successful cutting of the head of this evil snake plaguing our lands.”

Disbelief was written all over their faces. Every attempt made to reclaim the lost territory had been a failure after all.

“With all due respect … this is an impossible task.” One duke in the first row commented respectfully.

“Everything is impossible until it’s done.” I claimed and smiled reassuringly.

“Do you have a plan, your majesty?” I didn’t mind the previous question, but whoever asked that from the middle of the room should be spanked afterwards.

“I wouldn’t be sitting here otherwise.” I said, still smiling brightly.

“We … we don’t even know where the demon king is.” The duke in the first row commented.

“We will find him. And if not, he will come to me.” I claimed, probably rightfully so. We just had to endure everything he could throw at us beforehand in this case. Nonetheless, I sincerely hoped to avoid that possibility.

“The saint has spoken. And it is our duty as believers to strengthen her back as much as we can.” The pope said slowly, attempting to get the other nobles on board. Knowing he would have my back while I was charging into battle did leave a sour taste in my mouth though. He didn’t mean it like that, but the wording couldn’t have been worse.

“Then I will also support you with everything I have.” The northern duke said, bowing deeply in the first row. He had the most to gain from this, and therefore would push for this attack the most. Well, his actions did wonders as the others started to announce their support one by one as well, until I lifted up my right hand and silenced everyone.

“As we will go deeply into enemy territory, I will not be able to lead a classical army. The supply requirements would be far too big for that. You neither have to offer gold nor many troops for this expedition.” They would only try to use this incursion for their own goals after all. “Instead, I need your best men here to prove themselves in two weeks. I will personally select who will come with me and who doesn’t. That is all.” I said, stood up from the throne and was directly bombarded with more questions. Sitting down while sighing, I went through all of their questions … all I could answer that was. Some – like “why now?” – where in fact hard to reply to, because quite frankly speaking, I didn’t have a satisfying answer except that I didn’t have the time to do so earlier.

At last though, I had answered every single idiotic question they could have excluding “can I go to the toilet” of course. Looking out of the window quietly, I could already see the sun going down slowly while the past nobles excused themselves.

Sitting quietly in my throne, I placed my cheek into my palm and placed my elbow onto the armrest. A bit bored, I waited for several minutes until I glanced over to an opening side door and noticed the king striding over towards me.

“How did it go?” He asked sitting down beside me and grabbing my hand. “Are you ill?” Looking over to him a bit tired, I breathed in sharply.

“No I’m not. It’s just a bit too cold for me in here.” I said and pulled my hand away from him.

“I see … do you like this? Sitting on a throne I mean? Ordering others around?” He asked, even though the answer should have been obvious from the very beginning.

“No. Not at all. Shall we?” I asked, stood up from the throne and pulled on his sleeve.

“You are quite eager tonight, aren’t you?” He asked, a naughty smile already on his punchable lips. I was interested in getting that over me, but only because I needed to fill out a few more documents already in his sleeping room.

“Come with me and you will find out.” I said, smiling seductively as the king finally stood up from his throne.
