Two binary stars floating around each other in a delicate dance. Far away and yet so close. Asteroids were pulled into their deadly embrace thanks to their massive combined gravity and even other stars had their course altered as these two rushed through the galaxy, separate and yet bound to each other by fate.

Slowly over thousands of years, they approached each other and started to kiss. But what was a sign of affection for most was the destruction of these two stars. They both struggled to exist after this point with their paths finally joining together into one. But it was a small path … and treading it together meant the destruction of the smaller star.

The star which spewed out deadly rays the whole time collapsed into itself and died a pitiful death. But what was the demise for one, meant the happiness of the other. Finally freed from its partners gravitational pull, it managed to heal its wounds over time and traveled the universe until the end.

Opening my eyes wide, I saw the blue sky above me and gripped my aching heart.

“I … fucking hate this shit.” Thankfully, not much time had passed since I fell unconscious and thus wasn’t healed by Sofie which would only give them more questions I wasn’t keen on answering.

Standing up slowly, I let my broken arm dangle downward and waved towards the four idiots who were making sure the dragon was dead for sure. Quickly, they spotted me and came rushing over.

“What are you doing here?” Ellie asked before I could hit her head with my fist.

“I could ask the same question for you. My orders were clear.”

“We … we just couldn’t let them die … but … we still failed.” Sofie admitted, tearing up while creating another healing orb right by my side. It tickled a lot and I hat to feign that it healed me, but otherwise it didn’t do anything. I still smiled a little and wiped her tears off with my left hand.

“How much have you guy seen?” I asked and tilted my head.

“How it … how it trampled around in the town and then …” At least I was right in my assumption they didn’t see me piercing myself back together.

“In that case, you must have seen the survivors, right? Without our actions there would be none. You did well in that regard.” I explained and smiled bitterly.

“We did?” Ellie asked surprised, not really sure if she should be glad I didn’t explode in fury or not.

“Hmm … but we won’t know how good it went until we join up with the forces you abandoned. You have a responsibility. All of you. But it does seem I have put too much faith in you.” I told them a bit tired from their shit and walked through their ranks to look at the dead dragon. “… gather the survivors in the area and make sure the villagers know it’s their dragon now. I’ll check that forest in the west, Ellie you go north, Sofie south and Gregory go east. Schwarz … keep tap on that dragon.” I mumbled and strolled away from them while giving my best to hide my pain.

After a little while in which they thankfully didn’t follow me, I whistled loudly and thanked the last shopkeeper for selling me a horse that knew when to come back. Grabbing into the saddle bags, I quickly retrieved two daggers an limped towards the forest.

“Hey …” I really had hoped I would be able to brood over my problems on my own, but Irminsul wasn’t having any of that.

“Thank you SO MUCH!” I shouted angrily and glared at her as she shrank back a little.

“Look, I know you are angry …” She started, but didn’t finish what she wanted to say as she witnessed how my expression turned from anger to pure sadness. She had betrayed my expectations once more … but I still couldn’t hate her for it.

“Stop. Just stop. Don’t let my hatred for all the other gods spill over onto you. Just don’t, okay?” I asked, tears flowing down my cheeks. I didn’t want to lose her as a friend. She was the only one to visit me on the archipelago island and she was also my strongest ally against Aska … if she was my ally.

“Im sorry.” She said and looked towards the ground saddened.

“You better be.” I mumbled, rubbed my cheeks and walked onwards into the forest.

“I’ll do everything I can to make it up for you.” She said this common, but also necessary phrase without any hesitation because she knew that leaving without giving me anything would leave a bitter taste in my mouth.

“Seriously? Because I really want to see the goddess of life dying for me.” I growled, but regretted my words nearly instantaneously.

“I …” She muttered quietly and teared up a little. She was old, far older than I could imagine but in her heart she was still a big softie.

“Forget it … I need you Irminsul. I need you to fight for me when the time is right.”  I explained and wanted to hug her, but couldn’t do so as there was nothing materialistic about her presence.

“I will.” She said and looked at me determined.

“And I need you to tell me what is wrong with these glasses.” I said and pointed at the completely broken right lens.

“Hmm?” She asked, extending her arm towards me and touching the glass.

“They still work, but the right lens is practically useless.” I explained in an attempt to get her to fix them for me, if she was capable of such a feat. But I saw no reason why she shouldn’t. After all, I created them with Aska’s help, and creating stuff wasn’t his forte.

“That … impo-“ She said, but stopped moving altogether mid sentence. Her hand was still touching my glasses as she slowly turned to mist and dispersed into the surroundings. Blinking several times, I wondered what the fuck just had happened for several minutes. But she didn’t come back, no matter how much I had called out her name.

In the end, I had to give up on that for the time being and turned my full attention to the duo walking towards me through the forest.

“Milady! You are safe.” Sebastian shouted out, nearly breaking up in tears while his sister, a twenty fife year old red head looked at me with a mixture of worry and fear.

“Yeah, cut the crap and start digging.” I told them and pointed towards a place I found suitable.

“What?” Sebastian’s sister asked taken off guard.

“I told you. To. Dig.” I repeated and kicked an older brach over to them. It wasn’t as good as a shovel, but it was better than nothing.

“Why are w-“ Sebastian’s sister asked a bit stunned, but the butler quickly interjected.

“Just do as she says.” He didn’t know for sure what I had in mind, but I could still hear a hint of fear in his voice. It was no wonder though. Being asked to dig a hole in the middle of a forest after a dragon destroyed their hometown was … odd? Worrying?

But at least they dug while I leaned onto a tree and massaged my hurting leg. After half an hour or so, I finally had enough and looked at the wide, but shallow hole they dug out.

“Great.” I said and drew one of my daggers. Throwing it on the ground right in between them, I looked into their confused eyes for several seconds.

“And now kill the other.” I demanded, drawing my other dagger in case anyone wanted to attack me.

“Milady … I must ask you to reconsider.” Sebastian said, quite hopeful I would change my mind … but no, I wouldn’t. This was planned since I heard his sister lived there.

“And I must ask you to shut the fuck up and do as I say. I had enough disloyalty for this trip and I will make sure it won’t happen again, starting with you.” I growled, pointing the dagger at him.

“I … I will not hurt my sister.” She said, defying me right away, but also quite scared of myself.

“Sebastian?” His sister asked, not really sure what was going on.

“Do I have to remind you I regularly decorate my bedroom with blood? Or do you finally relent and pick up that dagger for me?” I asked once more and tilted my head to the side.

“No.” He admitted, gulping loudly.

“I’ll turn you into a very lovely being if you murder her.” I proposed, a mischievous smile on my lips.

“I won’t.” He said steadfast which made me frown a little.

“Then I see no other option but to dispose you two right here.” I answered and sighed loudly.

“Milady … please.” The butler said, stepping backwards from me little by little.

“Nope. Kill her.” I demanded once more, pointing to the dagger again. “Think about it. One of you has a hundred percent chance of survival if he or she just murders their sibling. It isn’t too hard to understand, is it?”

Slowly, the woman made a step forwards, bent downwards and picked up the dagger. She didn’t direct it at Sebastian though, but rather pointed the trembling tip at me.

“You … you are the monster he wrote about … I … I won’t let you have him anymore!” She screamed loudly and warmed my heart a little. Seeing such familial love really did touch my heart.

“You will die.” I still stated drily and waited for her to dash towards me with a battle cry, only to see me sidestep her horizontal thrust and stab into her arm to the hilt. I was weakened during the day, but at least I could deal with a normal seamstress.

“Sis! No!” Sebastian screamed hysterically and dashed towards the bleeding woman as quickly as he could. She still collapsed in front of me, screaming and holding her arm in pain.

Lifting the dagger high into the air, I sneered a little as the butler knelt by her side and panicked.

“No …” The dagger in my hands swooshed downwards, but it stopped short of hitting the butlers hand as he blocked its path. “Please … I’ll do everything.”

“Then please tell me why she called me a monster. I view myself as a fairly normal girl and I am deeply offended by her earlier words.” I stated dryly.

“Because you are! You are raping men, torturing them in your bedroom before murdering them for your own pleasure! You are completely crazy … taking about finding life while you seek out death. And … and trying to find a family while asking me to murder mine!” Even though every single word of his was spot on, it still stunned me because I hadn’t realised how much of a monster he saw in me, even though I had been quite nice to him.

“But you can only have one family, isn’t it? And I want you in mine, so she is kind of a hindrance.” I explained, looking at the woman with disdain in my eyes.

“Please! I’ll see you as my sister or mother or whatever you want … I’ll do everything you can ask for … but please spare her life!”  Blinking a few times, I looked at the butler with a lot of interest.

“You will see me the same way you see her?” I was indeed interested in this butler who defended his sister with everything he had, without even lying. He really meant it the way he said it … which was phenomenal. Maybe … just maybe I could get my family this way.

With a bit of hope growing in my heart, I used the dagger to make a shallow cut on my broken arm and turned to my side, presenting the dripping blood to him.

“Drink it.” I demanded, but was quite shocked as his sister stopped him from reaching out to my hand.

“Don’t do it. I cannot bear to see you turn into a monster.” Oh? She wouldn’t have to worry. She was next in line to be turned into a vampire, after all of this was over. Brother and sister, showering me with their familial love … I drooled just by thinking about it. Being seen as a family member for real … that was what I wanted. And if that wouldn’t work out, I could always discard them.

But I would give them a chance to love me as part of their family, that was for sure.

“I have to do this …” Sebastian said, shook her grip off and robbed over to me. Grabbing my hand, he lifted it up a little and bought it to his mouth. And then, he began to lick my fingers clean of the blood while a steady stream flowed down my lower arm. I was quite engrossed in the actions of my butler that I didn’t give the crying woman any attention until it was too late.

Apparently, she had gathered all the strength she had, grabbed the dagger and rammed it into her brothers heart from behind. He choked a little on my fingers, spewed up his own sweet scented blood and collapsed in front of me within seconds.

Looking down at him with utter amazement, I nearly couldn’t believe what I saw. A sibling murdering her brother, not because she was threatened to do so, but because … because … I couldn’t figure out the reason for her actions at all.

“Why have you done that?” Every bit of her actions went so contrary to my expectations that I couldn’t believe it.

Robbing away from me, she made sure I didn’t follow her while turning the dagger around and pressing the tip over her heart.

“I … I will not see my brother turn into a monster like you!” Was I really that undesirable? I mean, I was strong, fought against the gods because all the others have already been dealt with and … I was the queen for fucks sake! But she still didn’t want him to come under my wing? For what reason? Envy? No … her eyes were filled with love.

“Oh …” She did it because she didn’t want her brother to change at all. In her eyes, he was perfect. Whatever she saw in him, she definitely didn’t want me to turn him into a shell of his former self.

“That’s … all? Oh? Are we nothing more than pets for you? Oh? OH?” She screamed at me hysterically and just as I stepped closer and reached out to grab her hand, she took her own life in a last act of defiance.

“Oh …” None of that went as expected. Not only did I lose a rather loyal servant, but I would also need to wash myself again after this. But at least I got one thing … or at least I thought I got it. Familial love wasn’t endless … it stopped when a person changed too much. She couldn’t bear the thought of her brother having fun in depravity … and so she saw no other way than to save him from that ‘horrible’ fate. And that sadly meant that all my past thoughts of Mary being my family were simply wrong. She could never be my family because she wasn’t remotely like me.

She didn’t even like every part of myself, let alone defended my blood thirst. She wouldn’t kill me if I changed into another person … she would have applauded it.

“Was this … even familial love … or …” Whatever there had been between us, it was definitely not as strong of a bond as these two shared. “No … it was just regular love…” I mumbled quietly, tears falling down onto the ground for whatever reason. Swiping them away, I forced myself to smile and look upwards. At least I knew what I had to do.

Somehow, I had to make someone who was exactly like me and who would remain that way forever. Aska immediately came to my mind, but I didn’t love him that way. I was thirsting for his flesh, and loved every second we were together, but I also couldn’t stand him.

Family could only be someone I didn’t have to worry about. Someone who I could love without hating that person … and someone who wouldn’t stab me in the back when I didn’t watch. Someone like Luna …

“How do I get her to murder someone …” I asked myself and bit my lower lip in anticipation. I could already imagine her in front of me … so lovable, so cute. Sighing affectionately, I finally looked back onto the ground and knelt down to caress the woman’s cheek.

“Thank you … rise.” I whispered and pushed her old, broken soul back into her body. Doing the same with my butler, I leaned against a tree and watched the two undead while drooling onto the ground. “Hug each other.” The did so as fast as their bodies allowed them to, but I wasn’t satisfied in the slightest. Their broken souls weren’t capable of feeling these emotions that opened my eyes anymore … they were just a husk with very little emotions.

As such, I could only shake my head in disappointment and turn my back towards them.

“Dig your own grave and make sure you are covered in dirt before you finally rest.” I commanded and simply left the two behind, continuing to dig their final resting place with their bare hands.
