The moonlight shone into the room we were in beautifully. The full moon presented the world in a gentle blue, even though the atmosphere was anything but that. At one moment, we were having a nice little chat and in the next Richard chose to ruin everything because I pretended to be someone I wasn’t.

His eyes, still glued to me, lit up in an interesting blue which was probably a signal he was using his unique magic. The thing was that I didn’t feel much of a difference at all. Sure, whatever he was doing tickled my soul a little bit but it was nowhere near enough to succeed in subduing me.

As I kept smiling gently he probably noticed that his ability didn’t do anything against me and frowned slightly.

“I told you I´m gifted.” I said and noticed how he switched his gaze over to Tom in an instant. Unlike me though, Tom didn’t have the ability to be conscious of his soul and definitely couldn’t repel an attack on it. Within seconds, he fell onto his knees and looked towards the ground ashamed.

“Master, I must inform you that she is most definitely able to free herself of your influence.” Tom said much to my surprise. I didn’t interject right away though as I still thought I could gain a lot of knowledge from Richard.

“I already know that. Tell me how she does it.” Richard commanded and finally stood up from the bed. His gaze returned to me right away and he kept trying to use his ability on me, even though I started to yawn loudly.

“That I do not know. She likes to keep secrets.” Tom explained completely unbothered by my loud sigh.

“Tom, stand up.” I said and stared straight at him. He didn’t move at all. “Stand up.” I commanded once more using the bond between us but even then, he didn’t do as I told him to. So at least one magic existed that had precedence over the bond between us. Sighing loudly, I looked at Richard once more and smiled bitterly. “What do you want?”

“Who are you?” He asked even though I was the first one to state a question. This guy seriously didn’t know the rules of conversation.

“… let us skip the part where I lie to you, you don’t believe me and I weasel myself out of it anyway, shall we? You can ask Tom these questions as well later, so there is really no need to, right? So … what do you want?” I asked once more while looking at Tom nervously.

“You are giving up?” That was the crux of it, wasn’t it? Well, I pretended to give up so there was that.

“Yeah … I can’t win against Tom and probably not against you either. I was here to stop you from taking control of him, but that apparently failed. So?” I asked once more.

“I want you to be my heroine.” My mouth opened by itself. Seriously, I was threatening him mere minutes ago and yet he somehow believed that to be a good idea. Well, if you manage to turn your followers into a bunch of yes-man, that was sure to happen.

“Excuse me?” I opened, still a bit confused why he would want that out of all things. There was simply no reason for him to have me by his side, especially because I already proved myself to be immune against his magic.

“You aren’t one of us, but certainly are gifted in a way. So why don’t you follow me?” I blinked a few times, tilted my head out of habit and stared into his eyes deeply. I just didn’t get this guy.

“Follow you where exactly?” I asked slowly. Did he need my ability for something or was it just because I looked good?

“To the north obviously? A hero defeats the demon king.” Was he for real? Did his ability even work on animals? Because if not, he wouldn’t even get close to the demon king.

“… who told you that a hero needs to get rid of the demon king?” I asked with a growing suspicion. If all of these reincarnators were like him, I was sure to puke someday.

“That much is obvious. You know, humans from the modern world get reincarnated into some fantasy world and save them all, that’s how it goes.” That sounded more like a novel to me than a documentary, so at least there was hope that wasn’t common knowledge from where he came from.

“Wait, you think that everyone of these five hundred odd reincarnators is supposed to be a hero?” I asked a bit frightened by the possibility of them being all like him.

“Obviously.” Please no.

“Okay … and you seriously believe you are a hero?” I asked while pointing at him. He didn’t seem to mind much and was rather proud of himself for some reason.

“For sure. Just look at my level and its obvious.” For once, I couldn’t look at his status screen and even if I could, it wouldn’t mean much to me.

“Eh … I think there is more to being a hero than strength alone. A hero for example wouldn’t murder woman because they refused to sleep with you. In my mind, you are more of a villain … and a cheap one at that.” I said provokingly. And he actually fell for it.

“I´m not a villain!” He shouted out loudly. I was quite taken aback by his little outburst of anger, especially because I had to live with the title of Saint until all eternity. If I could live with being called what I didn’t want to be, he should be able to as well.

“How can anybody be this dense … you are pathetic.” I provoked him even further, mostly because this was getting quite boring.

“Look at you! You are level 12!” He exclaimed enraged. Living eighteen years without anyone confronting him must have been seriously hard for him. So hard in fact that he couldn’t handle the bit of criticism I threw at him.

“That’s level shaming! Why are you like this?” I mumbled while noticing how Tom stood up with a blank expression on his face. There were no emotions in his eyes whatsoever as he turned to me and balled his hands to fists.

“I have enough of you! You will submit, or else …” I really wanted him to finish the sentence, but his little speech came to a sudden halt. It was as if he didn’t even know what he wanted to do with me.

“Or else what? Do you want to murder me? Congratulations, you are selected to be responsible for my two hundred thousandth death! You win some stabby stabby!” I exclaimed and curtsied deeply. A mere second later, Tom was already storming towards me guided by an invisible hand. He wasn’t quick by any measure though which left me enough time to react.

Grabbing his hands reaching for my throat, I pulled him towards me while stepping backwards. Tom never learned to fight at all, which was why he was hopelessly outclassed against me. Had I given Richard the time to converse with Tom, he would know for sure but thankfully that wasn’t the case. Like this, Tom simply stumbled over my right foot and crashed onto the ground right next to me, face first.

Tom immediately tried to stand up again, but my right foot crashed into his back with a painful yelp from his side.

I wasn’t interested in Tom´s pain though and rather kept my gaze glued to Richards feet. Hannah down below us certainly understood what I told her earlier very well. As Tom fell onto the ground with a loud noise, she was just unsheathing her sword silently. Richard couldn’t even react to his defeated puppet in time, let alone the sword that bore itself through the wooden floor easily.

I mean, how could he? Hannah was the whole time beneath him and he didn’t notice her at all. Depending on ones slave to do the tasks was a seriously bad strategy in that regard. As such, the black sword bore directly to his skin through his right foot and exited at the other side. Blood spewed out of his foot like a little fountain as Richard screamed his life out of his lungs. He was in quite a lot of pain apparently, so much in fact that Tom apparently regained his senses and didn’t struggle anymore.

Laughing madly, I let go of Tom and strolled over to Richard who fell on his knees and held his bleeding foot with his hand.

“Weren´t you proud of your high level just now? You should have enough hp to survive this without any issue, don’t you?” His screaming died down rather quickly and was replaced by a whimpering I didn’t think possible coming from a eighteen year old hero. “Does it hurt?” I asked in a gentle voice and saw how he robbed over to the wardrobe for whatever reason.

At first, I let him rob away from me while watching him on the ground with satisfaction, but stopped him short of his goal by stepping on his hurting foot. Once again, he screamed loudly as I dug my heel into the open wound while laughing happily.

Finally, I had the opportunity to soothe my anger about being thrown out of my home somewhat and I made sure to enjoy it to my fullest. I even grabbed his leg so that he couldn’t crawl onwards and failed to reach the wardrobe by a few centimetres.

“What´s in there? I sword? Heroes use swords, don’t they? I´m more of a dagger type of girl though. These things can be hidden so easily and you can do so many naughty things with them … “ I giggled a bit as I pulled him away from the wardrobe by his foot. Turning my head once, I noticed how Tom sat down on the bed and held his head. As he apparently was free of any influence, I didn’t bother with him anymore and rather opened the wardrobe. Disregarding all his clothing, I looked for anything out of interest and soon found what Richard was probably trying to reach earlier.

It was a little flask, filled with a red liquid I had never seen before but even then, I could very well guess what this was.

“The pinnacle of alchemy these days. How did you get your hands on one of these … oh, never mind.” He probably brainwashed the alchemist to make him a few. “Do you want that?”

“P … P-please!” He stuttered a little bit and was a lot quieter than before. It was as if he wasn’t that though to begin with and thought that being a hero or whatever would be easy. “I-I beg … beg you.”

“I think it is a waste to use a healing potion on someone like you … but hey, why not?” I asked and opened the cork of the little glass flask. Shortly after crouching down, I held it in front of his chest and enjoyed the sight he gave me. “On a second thought … I still want you to answer a few of my questions, so why don’t we do this now?”

He tried to grab the flask which I naturally didn’t allow by lifting it up a little. He apparently did find a hint of bravery once more and grabbed my lower leg which I found quite disgusting. I didn’t do anything though as his hand was already sliding downwards a little, probably because he didn’t have the strength to hold onto me and the blood reduced the friction by a bit.

“Why are you with the church of death?” I asked while grabbing his hair and forced him to look up to me.

“I … I just chose them on a w-whim.” Well, that sucked for him. If he wouldn’t be with the church of death, I wouldn’t be there but rather with a poor priest.

“On a whim you say … poor you.” I mumbled and yanked his head downwards. A muffled scream escaped his lips while I thought about if I should just torture him for fun or for information. Well, they weren’t exactly mutually exclusive, were they?

“What is a spaceship?” I asked in a gentle voice.

“A c-carriage … capable of … flying through a v-vacuum.“ I yanked his head downwards once more and noticed how a lot of blood spewed out of his nose afterwards. The smell in this room was getting better by the second and was certainly not the only one a bit riled up by it. Tom was looking at us rather intensely, even though he avoided looking at Richard´s head.

“Hoho … tell me about your life before reincarnating here.”  I asked while forcing him to look into my eyes once more.

“P … please. I don’t want to die yet.” Nobody wanted to. Even though death was such a fascinating feeling for me, even though I already died an uncountable number of times and could claim that it wasn’t that bad.

“How many of those who you killed said exactly these words? And hey, you murdered them while I am just torturing you. You should be thankful for that.” I answered and chuckled crazily.

“Please … I need the potion.” I pursed my lips in dissatisfaction and stood up once more. After kicking his hand off my leg, I tilted the flask so that the contents fell onto the floor in front of him. He gave me quite the sight as everything splattered onto the ground and vanished through the gaps in between the floor boards or was covered by my boot which dispersed the fluid so much that even licking the floor wouldn’t do much for him.

“I think there are four times when a human will open his mouth. Once, when he thinks that he is amongst friends, once when he has the upper hand, once when he is pressured to talk for example through torture, and once when he is near death. So tell me, which one of those situations didn’t we have yet?”

“I … I was just a normal boy who spent most of his time in front of the pc! Please, there was really nothing interesting about my previous life … please.” I looked down on him as he whimpered quietly. Blood was still flowing out of his foot and nose and yet he still had quite the healthy complexion. His level sure came in handy if it weren’t for the pain incapacitating him.

“A normal boy? You aren’t lying, and yet I have a hard time believing that. Why would a normal boy murder?”

“Because … because they were accusing me of crimes! I had a new life – a better one – but they were threatening it all! I swear, I didn´t –“ My foot crashed on his hand as he tried to justify his actions by trying to paint himself in a better light.

“You are pathetic. You are disgusting. But not because you murdered and enslaved others, but rather because you joined a faith I hate with all I got. You cannot even imagine how unlucky you are for being one of these disgusting reincarnators who present a simple way for any god to influence this world, and by following the church of death at the same time. Because if there is one thing I cannot accept is to have any god, including Aska, to dictate what happens on this world. I will naturally cooperate with them, as long as they respect my red line which is in a circle around this world. Okay? Tell that to your god … and when you meet Aska, please remember him that there is still Cheesecake in the fridge. And that he cannot eat fast food all the time while I´m not around. Would you do that for me?” I asked, but as a reply, I could only hear a groan from him.

“Lucy, I thought you loved Aska? So why keep him at a distance?” Tom asked astonished. The answer was rather simple. If he were to come to this world, there would be no place where I could do whatever I wanted. Sure, I did love Aska and I liked living together with him, but I didn’t want him to be around me all the time.

“Tom, my personal life is … personal. Understood?” I asked and stepped over Richard who was still not at death´s door. Walking towards the door, I opened it and let Hannah inside who was waiting in front of it patiently.

“Hannah this is Richard. If you find his muscular body enticing in any way, you can have him after blinding him. If not … do what we will do to every single one of the church of death.” I said and nodded towards Hannah. At that point, I had already pained Richard enough to calm down considerably and thus leaned against the wall right next to the door once more.

Hannah didn’t take long to unseathe her black sword once more and walk towards Richard. Tom and I weren’t the only ones to know what would follow and this knowledge certainly spurred Richard into action. He rolled onto his back and glanced at Tom, and then at Hannah to subdue them.

“No you don’t?” I mentioned casually and grinned in satisfaction as neither of them turned into rats. Hannah shook her head in disappointment and kicked his side once. It must have hurt quite a bit because he rolled over to his side, and then further away from her until he was stopped as the sword bore into his shoulder.

“Lucinda, if you would be so kind.” Hannah said casually while pulling the sword out of him.

“Aye aye!” I exclaimed as lighting erupted from the sword and licked Richard´s back. Slowly but surely, the tip of the sword bore into his back while he was electrocuted alive, screaming his lungs out once and for all with a spasming, slowly charring body.
