Cai Youyang envied Yu Xisheng, who had both a dog and a child. Lu Feng saw this in his eyes, but he had no way of fulfilling his wish. Both of them were busy with work. Who would take care of the pets after the New Year holidays? As for children, that was even more out of the question.

Lu Feng set his work to the side and carefully analyzed his situation at home with Cai Youyang. Cai Youyang had an itch, but their circumstances didn’t allow him to scratch it. He could naturally understand.

Cai Youyang was afraid that this would become a knot in Lu Feng’s heart. He tugged at his arm and consoled him, saying, “I have you, and that’s enough for me. What dogs or cats? They’ll only take up space for no reason and even get in the way of our couple life.”

Lu Feng stroked Cai Youyang’s head, letting out a sigh. “As someone who’s been a teacher for several years, you truly are very sensible.” He remembered how things were between them back when he was in college. The police academy strictly managed its students, so Lu Feng often couldn’t meet with Cai Youyang. Because of this, he had felt awkward for a long time.

Bewildered, Cai Youyang said, “I used to be so virtuous, gentle, and accommodating. Say it. When have I not been sensible? I will fix it right away.” His expression was as though he truly was reflecting.

Under his gaze, Lu Feng said with a straight face, “I’ve thought carefully. There’s nothing to fix.”

Cai Youyang’s face brightened for a moment, but he didn’t forget to show some necessary restraint. “As they say, correct any mistakes you made, but maintain your good record if you haven’t made any.”

“If I have to say something,” said Lu Feng after some thought. “It would be that your physical fitness is too poor. You don’t manage to last long every time. And then…”

Cai Youyang cut in, “Enough.”

Lu Feng picked him up and strode toward their bedroom. “You really have to change in this aspect.”

“Isn’t it still daytime?” Anxious, Cai Youyang pounded Lu Feng’s back. His ass still hurt. He didn’t want to do it at all. This man who thought with his lower half knew this, and yet he still placed him on his bed.

Cai Youyang stared at Lu Feng as though he were looking at a beast. Lu Feng was only joking with him, but when he saw this gaze, his heart ignited and burned with fire.

However, heaven failed to fulfill the people’s wishes. As Lu Feng stepped one foot into the bedroom door, his phone rang. Cai Youyang took out Lu Feng’s phone from his pocket, stared at the caller ID, and pushed his shoulder urgently. “Your deputy chief.”

Lu Feng was stunned. He took the phone and stood at attention on reflex as he answered the call and said, “Chief!”

The deputy chief said, “How was your holiday?”

Lu Feng: “…”

The deputy chief continued, “If it weren’t for this major case that just came in, I wouldn’t have interrupted your break today.”

Lu Feng raised his wrist to look at his watch. “I’ll be there at half-past five.”

“Ok,” said the deputy director. “Call everyone else as well.”

“Yes, sir.”

Seeing Lu Feng hang up, Cai Youyang immediately called Xiao Zhou from downstairs to get his documents and keys. He understood that Lu Feng had just been given an assignment.

“Well, not only does he not have dogs or children, but his boyfriend is also now about to run off,” Cai Youyang thought with bitterness. He opened the shoe cabinet, took out Lu Feng’s leather shoes, and brushed off all the dust on them. He was also about to polish them when Lu Feng came over.

“No time,” said Lu Feng as he put on the shoes and got up, ready to leave.

Cai Youyang subconsciously let out an “ah,” wanting to keep Lu Feng here for longer. Lu Feng gazed back at him and apologetically said, “I’m afraid you’ll have to spread the bedsheets by yourself.”

“I just wanted to move around a bit.” Cai Youyang stepped forward, tilted his head, and kissed Lu Feng. “Be careful on the road. It’s almost time for dinner, so order takeout. Don’t always eat instant noodles.”

“Mhm,” said Lu Feng. He kissed him on the forehead and flashed a smile. He then wrapped his coat around himself, opened the door, and left. When he reached the stairs, he looked back. Teacher Cai was indeed still standing in the same place, staring at his departing figure. He waved, asking Cai Youyang to go back inside their apartment.

Cai Youyang nodded, When Lu Feng started climbing down the stairs, he closed the door, went to the balcony, and slowly collected the quilt, but he kept his eyes trained downstairs. After a while, a tall figure appeared with his hands in his pockets. His head was slightly lowered, but his back was perfectly straight.

Cai Youyang took a few steps forward, leaned against the cold ceramic tiles, and stared at Lu Feng’s back, feeling both a little proud and a little sad.

His boyfriend was off to maintain national stability and ensure the citizen’s personal safety.

On the balcony, Cai Youyang found Lu Feng’s figure when viewed from the back to really be akin to a hero.

The “hero” sneezed before thoughtfully shooting a glance behind him. On the eighth floor balcony of their building, he saw Cai Youyang standing in place as the breeze swept past his face as the sky at sunset bestowed his figure with a golden aura. He looked very beautiful, like a little prince who had just walked out of a fairy tale.

Lu Feng broke into a smile and wondered whether he should bring some huadian home later in the evening as a midnight snack for his little prince. After all, there was a night market near the municipal bureau. The foil-wrapped huadian there was appetizingly spicy, but it wasn’t that heavy to the taste buds. It was perfect for driving the cold away and warming the stomach.

Only, it would be a little troublesome to stop it from going cold before arrived home. A slight frown appeared on his face. Afterward, when he glanced at his phone, he learned that Xiao Zhou had already called everyone, so he accelerated his pace as he strode toward the parking lot. The parking lot in their little neighborhood was divided into two levels: the underground parking lot and the ground-level parking lot. The ground-level parking lot was free, so he parked his car there.

At this time, he received another text message. He originally thought it was the deputy chief once again prompting him to rush, but to his surprise, it was actually from Cai Youyang.

“I want to eat foil-wrapped huadian from that old street next to your police station.”

Lu Feng couldn’t help but smile again. On one hand, he felt that they truly were lovers. Their minds were quite in sync. On the other hand, he wanted to tease Cai Youyang, so he replied, “Teacher Cai, eating at night isn’t good for your health.”

As he had expected, Cai Youyang grew anxious. “What? Is eating huadian considered eating something? If I insist on eating, what are you gonna do about it?” Afterward, he matched it with a knife sticker.

Lu Feng pretended to have been successfully threatened and forced to give in. He replied, “Fine, I’ll bring some home for you, okay?”

Cai Youyang sent a “not bad” sticker, seeming to be very pleased with himself.

Lu Feng shook his head and put his phone away. He then opened the door, got out of his car, and headed toward the Municipal Public Security Bureau.

At home, Cai Youyang sent a private message to the user 181xxxxxxxx who had pestered Cai Youyang yesterday to introduce a potential partner to them, saying that his boyfriend wanted to buy him huadian again and that it was really annoying.

User 181xxxxxxxx was currently online. After seeing this message, they replied, “I really envy you. So, can you introduce me to a boyfriend that’s just as good as him?”

In a courteous manner, Cai Youyang said, “Sorry. There’s only one such amazing boyfriend in the world, and he’s already become a part of my family.”
