Mei Li approached Ryn once the director cried "It's a wrap." She handed a cup of latte to her model with a smile.
"Thanks for your hard work," she said.
"Hmm... I need to take the wig off," Ryn said, holding the wig. She declined the drink and made a beeline toward the room to take off the wig. Her neck felt like it would snap any time if she still waited more there.
Mei Li gave an apologetic smile at the director and followed Ryn. Usually, Ryn would go check her photos on the monitor but this time, she went straight to the changing room to change her outfit and take off the wig. Mei Li could imagine how heavy and uncomfortable the wig was but being Ryn, she would not complain about it. Hence, everyone thought Ryn did not have any problem at all during the shooting.
"Please help me," Ryn cried once she entered the room.
Both the hairstylist and make-up artist approached her with their eyes opened wide. They have never seen her being this 'anxious' before. Giggling, they helped to take off the wig from Ryn's head. They even laughed when Ryn let out a huge sigh of relief.
Ryn shook her head after she took off the wig cap and all the hair clips and hair tie. Free. She was finally free.
She went to take off the dress and put on her jeans and shirt. She ignored the make-up like usual. She only pulled her hair into a messy ponytail.
Now she was ready to meet the director and see the work.
The director was still looking at the monitor with the photographer when the two women came. Ryn greeted them politely, even apologizing because she went straight to the changing room instead of checking the work.
"The wig is heavy?" the director asked wryly.
"Err..." Ryn could only grin sheepishly. She was too embarrassed to confess she almost could not hold it anymore and wanted to give up the wig. But she sucked it up and kept pushing herself to work it out. She did not want to put any of them in an awkward way just because of her inability to get used with the wig.
"It's okay. Don't worry," the director assured her with a pat. Then, he gestured Ryn to look at the monitor, "For the first time I saw you made a mistake."
Ryn's eyes narrowed at the picture he meant. It showed her grimace. Oh, so the director already guessed why she went straight to the changing room without waiting anymore.
"How... how many? Do I have to retake it?" Ryn asked worriedly. She started blaming herself for having a bad take.
"No need. Only one bad take," the director reassured Ryn. He and the photographer held their laughter seeing how nervous Ryn was. Even Mei Li who was standing beside Ryn was giving them a worried look as well.
"Don't worry, Ryn. It's okay."
Ryn held Mei Li's hand, trying not to get panic. She never had this kind of take before so she did not know how to react.
Although Mei Li was lost of words. It was not unusual for her other models to have bad takes, especially the new models, but to have Ryn had a bad take? This was a first time. And Mei Li did not know what to do to make Ryn feel better.
"Ryn girl, don't worry. Only one photo out of hundreds cannot be used," the director said when he saw them fretting. It was funny to see how worried Ryn was. And to see her manager fretting as well. It made him feel like he was a teacher in front of two brilliant students who were caught red-handed doing naughty thing.
"Don't worry. It's not the end of the world. I mean, this is your first bad take, right?" the photographer chirped in. He could not help from being proud to be the first person who took a bad take of Ryn. He would announce this in the group and had no doubt the other photographers would be jealous of him for being the first to take Ryn's bad take. Maybe he should put this in his portfolio? His private portfolio.
Mei Li and Ryn went into Mei Li's car. Ryn was still sad while Mei Li already shrugged it off and ready to start anew. The manager knew it was useless to keep worrying about this matter. All they could do was to learn the mistake and not to repeat it again.
"Don't worry, Ryn. It's not that you purposely wanted this to happen. You're tired from the wg," Mei Li tried to make Ryn feel better. She wanted the model not to keep fretting over this matter.
"I know. But..."
"Ryn, just one bad take from hundreds good takes. Think about the hundred good takes, please," Mei Li said. She needed to remind Ryn that she should not focus on the one mistake compared to hundreds good ones."
Ryn took a deep breath to calm down. She knew it was useless to keep thinking over it but she just could not help it. She closed her eyes and took another deep breath.

She took another deep breath as she pictured one thing that made her happy.
Steaks.
Without thinking, she licked her lips. The steaks in her mind was huge and juicy. It was delicious. Once the knife cut through the grilled ribeye and revealed the pinky inside... yum~
Her stomach started growling.
"Ryn, what's on your mind?" Mei Li asked. She was driving the car, heading back to Ryn's apartment. She planned to have food delivery while waiting for the crews to come. She thought Ryn could wait patiently for the food because Ryn did eat something during the shoot. She saw the table full with food at the corner of the studio. Hence, when she heard the very familiar sound from Ryn, she was taken aback.
Didn't Ryn eat at the studio?
"Steak," Ryn said simply, without thinking. She was indeed thinking about delicious steak so she did not find her answer wrong at all.
Mei Li gulped. Her mind was busy thinking whether the restaurant nearby the place offered a steak that up to the par of Ryn's standard. Ryn was quite picky with her steaks. Do they have one?
"Do you... want steak now?" Mei Li asked slowly.
"Can we stop there first? I don't mind a take-away," Ryn asked with full of hope. She even batted her eyes at her manager cutely.
"Luckily I'm driving so I cannot see your face," Mei Li said as she tried to avoid looking at the model beside her.
"You saw me, Mei Li. You can see me," Ryn said sing-songing. She was so hungry she did not care that she was acting cute, which was totally opposite of her real self. Her hungry stomach would prefer food than her pride.
Besides, this was Mei Li. Her manager.
She could be cute in front of her own manager.
Mei Li sighed heavily. She looked around and decided that the restaurant they always went to get the steak was not that far. But it would take a while for the steaks to be ready. She would inform the crews while waiting, she decided.
Ryn's eyes sparkled when she noticed the way they were heading. She could guess where they were going and she was happy.

Jeremy stretched his arms tiredly and cracked his neck. He looked at the time and sighed heavily. He would not meet Ryn for dinner because he did not want to 'show off' their relationship in the camera, which what Ryn would not want. He would respect her wish but tomorrow, he would try to squeeze in precious moments with her. He had no idea what to do tomorrow but he had no doubt he would see her.
He stood up and walked to the huge window. The long hour of sitting really gave stress on his back and it was painful. It made him realize he was getting older now.
He used to be able to sit for hours doing interview without moving but now, he would get backache just by sitting to read reports.
Maybe he really needed to put aside a bit of space in his huge office for him to let out a bit steam? But then again, the only thing that could make him feel better was spending time with Ryn. When he was with her, all the tiredness went away. She was his cure.
He remembered that he needed to control his jealousy. Although he kept thinking the jealous in him showed how deep his love was toward her. But it seemed like she did not share the same thinking and wished for him to change.
So what should he do?
Having another activity to distract himself when he started to see green?
