Ryn ended the call abruptly. She was too hungry to care. Mei Li was finally here so she could finally have her breakfast. Ryn grabbed her hand phone and keys. She did not bother bringing her bag. She was too hungry to care.
Her ID?
She already slipped it into the pocket of her hand phone. Money? Mei Li would pay for the breakfast and whatever needed to be paid today. But then again, she would only be with her manager during the breakfast and driving test. Mei Li would send her home and she would have free time to do whatever she wanted.
So far, she had no other plan afterwards. Wait a minute, she did have a plan.
She planned to sleep the whole day.
"You must be hungry," Mei Li commented once Ryn got into the car. Again, the model did not greet her, just getting into the car and pulling the safety belt. And then, Ryn looked at her expectedly.
"Hmm…?"
Ryn simply c.o.c.ked an eyebrow. Not a word came out from her rosy lips.
"Fine. Let's go." Mei Li chuckled and locked the doors.
Both of them ignored the cameras all over the car. As the size was quite small, it did not bother Mei Li for her driving. She changed the gear and let the car went out of the apartment area. She already has a place to go. And she hoped Ryn would like her choice.
It took only fifteen minutes before the car stopped at an empty parking lot. Their luck was quite good today and the parking Mei Li found was right in front of the small restaurant. Despite the luck, there were quite a lot of people inside. Ryn frowned. She was too hungry to wait for more.
"Let's go," Mei Li said when she noticed the model beside her did not move at all. She did not even unbuckle the safety belt! "What's wrong?"
"Are you sure about this?" Ryn asked as she looked at the restaurant, frowning. So many people. Could they even buy their food? No, the important question was, would there be a place for them to sit there? Do they have to wait for the customers to leave first before they could eat their breakfast? But she was starving. She did not want to wait for long. Her poor stomach.
"Yes. Yes." Mei Li tried to make a signal for Ryn not to create any trouble. The crews were already there with the camera and all. They could not change their location at the spur of a moment. It would make the shooting turned upside down. Mei Li did not want the model under her being known as a troublesome model. She wanted Ryn and all the models have good image in the public eyes. This was for the sake of their future.
Ryn pursed her lips and after a few seconds, she nodded her head. Even if they went to search for another restaurant, it might be full with customers too. The search and the wait would waste more time and her stomach could not wait anymore. She needed to eat and she wanted to eat now.
To Mei Li's relieved, Ryn finally unbuckled the safety belt and got out of the car. Mei Li could not even hide her relieved when she blew out a sigh and followed Ryn toward the restaurant. This time around, they did not have to stop and repeat their movement for the camera to record them, like in the previous shooting. The director wanted it to be so real and gave his assurance that the crews knew what they are doing. They should just act like usual and ignore the cameras. Just treat the cameras as air, the director said.
So she told Ryn to act like usual, which this model did perfectly. Mei Li bet Ryn already forgot about the cameras, especially when she was starving. Anything else was unimportant when her stomach was empty. Mei Li shook her head in bemused as she followed the model to the restaurant. This would be funny as hell as long as no one noticed the starving snake aka Catherine.
Ryn was happy when she saw an empty table once they entered the restaurant. It was almost at the end of the area but quite far from the counter so they would not be bothered by the noisy sound of people ordering and paying food. Ryn nodded her approval at the location. She forgot that because of the shooting, there would always be an available table for her to sit. She quickly sat on it and with a serious face looked at Mei Li, "I'll watch over the table, and you go buy the food."
"So what do you want?" Mei Li asked as she gestured to the board on the wall, listing all the food and drink available, including the price.
Ryn narrowed her eyes as her finger tapping the table unconsciously. She deliberated, choosing what she wanted to eat.
The director and his assistant who were staring intently at the monitor in the car outside the restaurant felt like their heart could stop any moment. They were nervous. What would Ryn do next? Would she satisfy their expectation and order a lot of food?
Ryn opened her mouth as the two stared at the monitor without blink.
"How big is the steam bun?" Ryn asked.
Mei Li showed her palm and tried to show the size of the bun. She came here before so she knew the size and the taste. Hence, the reason why she chose this place for breakfast. She did not have to say a word about the taste. She did not even have to boast. The amount of customers in this restaurant is evidence of how delicious the food sold in the restaurant was.
"Ah, that small," Ryn's cheeks bulged unhappily. But, she was too hungry to care. She opened her mouth as her eyes stuck at the board, "Five pork steamed buns, three chicken steam buns, one fried noodle, and… three sesame buns. For drink, I want coffee and plain water."
The director and the assistant could not stop from grinning widely. Trust Ryn to fulfill their wish. She did not disappoint them at all.
Mei Li, on the other hand, blinked her eyes a few times when she heard the amount of food Ryn wanted. Then, with a sigh, she took out her purse and handed it to Ryn. "Just get me a plate of fried noodles and a cup of coffee. I'll watch over this table."
"Eh?" Ryn gave her a puzzled look. Why?
"Ryn, I can't remember the amount you want. You expect me to remember the different numbers for different food?" Mei Li grumbled as she sat on her chair. She looked around before at the counter, "You should hurry or they will run out of the buns you want."
Ryn looked at the counter and gasped. So many people were there. She knew the buns were not limitless for a day. She should hurry or she would have nothing to eat. She quickly went to order and pay for the food.
Mei Li's lips twitched in bemused. It was funny to see Ryn being panic. She would only get panic when it involved food. This would give the director something to celebrate. Mei Li had no doubt about it.
Ryn returned with a tray full of food. Mei Li quickly stood up and helped Ryn bringing some of the food onto the table. When they were done, the table was so full with food, there was no more space to even put a small plate. Mei Li could not help from snickered when she saw it. She was even hoping for a camera to catch this splendid 'party'. Wait a minute, she could do it herself.
"Wait a minute," Mei Li said suddenly just as Ryn, being the starving snake she was, was reaching for a pork steamed bun.
"What?"
"Your photo of the day," Mei Li reminded as she took out her phone and quickly took several pictures. She would choose the best one to post in Ryn's account later. Of course, she would take pictures, a lot of pictures, and maybe a video during Ryn's driving test. The Long would expect her to do it anyway.
Ryn quickly grabbed the bun once Mei Li was done. She was so hungry, she used both hands to grab a bun each. She ate them quickly but in the eyes of the people around her, she still looked graceful and delicate.
How on earth could she do that with two buns in her hands?
Ryn took her time eating everything. Even the fried noodle with a fried egg was clean perfectly. Mei Li who only ordered fried noodles was done with her breakfast long ago. She was not worried that Ryn would be late for the driving test. She purposely came to pick Ryn up early in order to give Ryn more time to eat her breakfast to her heart content.
