Mei Li put down the pen she was using and let out a sigh. Finally, she was done with the proposals. She pushed slightly to the back to give some space for her to stand up. Then, she walked to the sofa where a woman was still sleeping peacefully.
Her lips twitched seeing the sleeping beauty was so deep in her sleep, she did not even stir once even when Mei Li accidentally exclaimed loudly when she was working on the doc.u.ments. Ryn was not even aware that Mei Li was having conversations with some of the models.
"Ryn, wake up," she shook Ryn's shoulder gently. She did not shake it too hard, so as not to shock Ryn abruptly. It was gentle and slow. "Ryn..."
Ryn blinked her eyes sleepily. She looked at Mei Li with a yawn,
"What?" Ryn mumbled. She stretched her arms and yawned again. What time was it? Has she been sleeping too long? How long has she been here?
"What time is it?" Ryn asked. She looked around. Someone was missing, her heart whispered. But she could not remember who.
Poor Jeremy. He was actually going to his favorite cafe instead of the cafe next door to get their coffee. It would take a lot of time, he understood this perfectly, but his 'wife' deserved to get the best of the best. And to him, his favorite cafe served the best coffee to accompany her today.
He was not aware that his lovely 'wife' already forgot about him once she woke up half an hour after he sent her to Mei Li.
"It's only about half an hour nap," Mei Li said as she sat on the other sofa. She crossed her legs and watched Ryn rubbing her sleepy eyes and mumbling something unintelligible under her breath. Mei Li did not ask her to repeat it clearly. It must be something about Jeremy or another. Ryn seemed to be under the spell of her dream so she needed some time to truly wake up.
Ryn was like two different people. When she was working, she did not take even a second to put her mood to work mode after she woke up. However, when she was not working, she would gaze dazedly after waking up, to remember where she was and what she was supposed to do. A workaholic and a lazy person all in one body. Sometimes it made her surprised and taken aback too when she saw two different sides of Ryn but she was getting used to it.
As long as there was food, Ryn would be fine so she was not worried at all. Nothing would go wrong when Ryn's stomach was full.
"Excuse me," Ryn said, well, more like mumbled, as she stood up and headed to the ladies' room to wash her face.
Mei Li did not say anything. She just looked up and stared at the air conditioner. She could wait. She knew what Ryn wanted to talk about. It must be about the mysterious employer who booked her for days.
But she has promised not to reveal the secret. It was supposed to be a secret and they wanted to surprise Ryn.
Of course, Mei Li did not agree with the idea at first. She did not find it a good idea to keep it a secret from Ryn. Ryn should know about this and ask about her opinion. Ryn should be aware of the project and she should be prepared. But later on, as she was the minority, she had to swallow her disagreement and obeyed them.
Hopefully, Ryn would not get mad with her.
Ryn returned and this time there was no sign of her being sleepy at all. Her ponytail was sleek, tidier than her usual messy ponytail. Her face was free from any make-up but so smooth, her cheeks looked like soft tofu. Of course, it made Mei Li jealous, knowing how laid-back Ryn was, especially regarding her skincare. She did not even have more than 3 steps in her skincare routine!
And she knew most of the time, Ryn only washed her face and that was that.
So envious!
Ryn took her seat and looked at Mei Li. She c.o.c.ked an eyebrow. No word at all came out from her lips. She just waited.
Mei Li sighed. It was nerve-racking receiving Ryn's stare. She was using one of her faces, the ones she used during her jobs. And if Mei Li was not mistaken, Ryn was using her CEO/ big boss look right now.
So scary!
Mei Li gulped. She tried to escape but it was pointless. Ryn would not let her go. She would not leave her alone until she got what she wanted. And what she wanted was the answer.
To Ryn, it was a straight-forward question and answer, but to Mei Li, it was hard to open her mouth. She has given her words and she did not want to go against them.
"Mei Li?" Ryn narrowed her eyes suspiciously. It seemed like Mei Li still refused to reveal who the mysterious employer of hers. Why? Ryn did not understand at all. Why was it so hard to just tell her bluntly who booked her for days? Was it so hard?

"Is this involving a confidential project? Something with the army?" Ryn guessed. She did not know what to expect when Mei Li refused to speak.
"No... no...no-no-no," Mei Li said quickly, shaking her head. Why would Ryn think that? How could her mind even go that way? So... out of the line. She, as Ryn's manager, would not dare to accept any project from those people without receiving Ryn's consent first.

Mei Li sighed. This was getting harder and harder to stay put. To stay calm.
"Mei Li, remember back what you promised me when you asked me to sign the contract?" Ryn asked quietly.
Mei Li gulped. She remembered. When she went to seek Ryn and asked her to help by making a comeback, she promised to discuss all the projects before she signed the contract. Mei Li was hoping with Ryn's help, it could help with her position in the agency. With Ryn under her wing, she could even help her other models to get better job options. And... she did not want this to be the reason for Ryn to break their contract.

"It's Mika," Mei Li said finally. She has lost completely. Besides, she coaxed herself, Mika was Ryn's best friend so it would be alright. Ryn would understand why Mika was doing it if she thought about it carefully.
"She's too rigid and serious and I want to inject some funs in it, right, baby?" Mika looked at her fiance for support and Jason nodded. They went to meet Mei Li a week before to discuss this 'surprise'. Imagine how shocked Mei Li was to receive them because they even made a proper appointment to meet her. Ryn took a deep breath to calm herself. She could not believe this. What was with the secrecy? Why was this being hidden? Couldn't they just say it clearly that Ryn, I want to book you for several days. Please clear your schedule for me? And Ryn might even agree to it.
Has Mika forgotten how full her schedule before just to keep these coming months almost empty just for her wedding? How could she do this to her?
"I'll leave you time to calm down," Mei Li said as she stood up and went to the door. She glanced at the quiet Ryn and sighed. She knew it could hurt Ryn but what else could she do. She knew who she was and her background. And she knew who Mika and Jason were. They came from a super-duper rich family while she came from an ordinary family. Despite Mika being so playful when she was with Ryn but it would be stupid to forget her real identity. Mei Li sighed and closed the door. She gave Ryn some privacy to think this over.
