Ryn just finished her meal when someone rang the bell. With a frown, she left the dirty dishes to open the door.
Her expression did not change when she saw who the visitor was.
"Ryn~" A person jumped into her and Ryn automatically opened her arms to catch the person. She even staggered a few steps back but did not fall as she stabilized herself. The corner of her eyes twitched as she released the person.
Only one person would jump to her without any warning. It was Mika.
"How are you? Do you miss me?" Mika asked hurriedly when she was no longer in Ryn's arms.
"I just had my brunch," Ryn replied as she turned around.
She went back to the dining table to clean everything and left Mika to enter the house happily. Mika treated this house as her own so Ryn did not feel anything wrong leaving abruptly.
"You're still taking a break from work?" Ryn asked as her hands got busy washing the dishes. She ignored her best friend who was mumbling while checking the cabinet. "Mika?"
Mika turned to look at Ryn with her lips pursed a bit. "You really should check the food in here. Only one can left."
"I'll do the shopping later after I return from my gig," Ryn replied before repeated back her question.
"I'll return back tomorrow. Today I have to go to an event," Mika replied. She rubbed her hands and went to open the refrigerator to take out a bottle of water. She poured it into a glass and sipped it happily.
Ryn did not bother asking how Mika was with her in-laws. Seeing how good Jason and his family treated Mika, she had no doubt Mika was being spoiled when she went to the main house. That was why she only asked about her work. Surely Mika would not quit after married.
She put the clean dishes back in their place and wiped her hands with a clean cloth. She looked at Mika who was leaning against the counter, looking at her.

"Join me for the fun?"
"What fun?" Ryn walked to the living room with Mika following behind. Even when she sat on the couch, her best friend quickly sat beside her, even going as far as wrapping her arms around Ryn.
"I will be bored going there alone. I want you to accompany me watching smelly horses."
"Don't tell me the event is a horse race?" Ryn asked with a frown.
"It's a yearly event by Maxwell Corp. I'm representing both companies," Mika said unhappily. "Jeremy did not want to go again this year and father was busy with the company to go."
"I've never gone to such an event before so I don't think I can..."
"Ryn, you must come with me. Don't let me go there alone. I will be bored to tears," Mika cried.
"Jason's not coming with you?"
"He has to stay at the company. The anniversary for the company is getting closer and he needs to take care of everything."
"I'm not sure, Mika. I mean... I've never been to this kind of event before. I don't think that I..."
"Ryn, please accompany me. You're my best friend, right? You must help me."

"Besides, you must get used to this event. Once you officially join the family, you have to go to all the events," Mika pointed out cheekily.
Ryn looked at Mika who was blinking her eyes innocently. They kept looking at each other for almost three minutes before Mika sighed and threw herself against her best friend again.
"Stop giving me that look. You're scaring me," Mika said with a small voice.
"I thought being a wife can get rid of your childishness," Ryn pointed out dryly.
"What Jason loves about me is my innocence, naive and childishness... and my brain too," Mika stuck up her chin proudly as she did not forget to praise her brain as one of the reasons Jason loved her.
Ryn shook her head helplessly. She thought after the wedding, Mika would change into someone mȧturė but it seemed like her thought has gone straight into the sea. There was nothing different in Mika except for the additional ring on her ring finger.
She guessed she asked too much for Mika.
"So... join me for the fun?" Mika begged Ryn when she saw Ryn still did not agree to accompany her.
"I..."
"Ryn~" Mika started to shake Ryn's shoulder and acted coquettishly.
"What should I do there? Do I need to pay for the entrance or something?" Ryn asked as she watched her best friend busy picking the clothes for her.
"I'll handle everything. You just need to accompany me," Mika said cheerfully. She handed a blue dress to Ryn and went to choose the jewellery to go with the dress. As the time was limited, she did not even have time to order a new fascinator hence she had to make do. Her lips twitched a bit at the one in her hand. If only she had more time to order for Ryn.
Ryn immediately changed into the outfit Mika chose. She then sat at the vanity desk and let Mika does her magic with the hair and make-up. Deep in her heart, she was still unwilling to follow Mika. She still needed to pack her bag for the flight tonight! Knowing Mika, they would return home late.

If only she was stern enough to say no and hardened her heart facing the puppy eyes look from the spoiled woman.

Mika entered her car cheerfully and started the engine. She did not even notice how silent Ryn was. So happy. Ryn was accompanying her to that boring event. She knew she could depend on Ryn. So happy.
Mika let her favourite music accompany them along the way. Still, not once did she notice how quiet Ryn was.
She found an empty parking lot and skillfully parked her car without even stopping for once. A man who was about to park in that particular lot was taken aback when suddenly a pink car appeared so quickly and took over the empty space. He was about to scold the reckless driver when he noticed the car plate. He gulped, recognizing the unique plate.

He gulped hard when he saw a petite lady come out from the driver's side. He knew it. That's the witch!
He quickly went to look for another parking lot. It was even better if that witch did not see him at all. He once flirted with her, thinking she was easy to please and bring to bed, only for him to spend a week on a bed in the hospital. Not only was he been beaten by that witch, his company almost went bankrupt under Long's order. He shivered. Luckily his family managed to overcome the obstacle and slowly climbed back to where they used to. Although it happened four years ago, seeing that witch, he felt like it happened just yesterday. Even his body felt so much in pain, he shivered in horror.
Oblivious of the horror she brought just by parking the car, Mika cheerfully wrapped her arm around Ryn's and urged her best friend to walk faster. The faster they went into the event, the faster they could leave. Mika did not want to stay too long there, anyway. She prefered to spend time with Ryn alone without having to face those hypocritical people. Although she always mingled with them because of her family, she despised the majority of them for being two-faced. In front of her, they would be so nice and friendly but behind her back, they were talking bad about her just because she refused to be closer to them and help them influence her father's decision regarding projects. Even when she opened the company with her big brother, some of them tried to make her help them with projects or simply tried to make her help them get closer to Jeremy for a fling or marriage.
She snorted at the thought. Why would Jeremy choose those loose women when he already has Ryn? Only Ryn was perfect for him. No other woman could hold even a candle against Ryn.

None of them was important in Mika's eyes. Even her parents did not care about the family background regarding their children's partner. It was just a coincidence that Jason came from a very influential family and was rich on top of that. And he showed it again and again by still with her when she was diagnosed with depression and had to depend on medicine to feel better.
