Damian's strategy and plan turned out just like he had hoped and he was also impressed with how adept he had become in timers of combat and wielding a blade, but he didn't have time to stop and congratulate himself.

He knew that until he had gotten away or eliminated all of those that were out for his life, he couldn't stop to rest and he had to make the most of the few seconds that he had away from the other mercenaries, to eliminate the mercenary that he was facing.

The downwards slash to the mercenary's right leg was deep and quick, and not underestimating his opponent, Damian followed up with a slash to his stomach, but it was surprisingly blocked.

He was also surprised to find that the mercenary didn't show any signs of being in pain or react to the slash to his leg, and the other mercenaries also didn't show any signs of planning to intervene.

They were two things that he didn't expect to occur and the slash he aimed at the mercenary's stomach was blocked and he suddenly sensed danger, so Damian jumped back.

Looking at the glaring and furious eyes of the mercenary facing, Damian felt slightly wary, while when he looked over at the other mercenaries, they also didn't react in the slightest to what was occurring and it was evident that Damian was surprised by their unusual behaviour.

"You are capable, quite vigilant and intelligent, but you miscalculated. You underestimated how capable we Royal Mercenaries are and also overestimated how much we care for each other and our own health. You have some talent, but unfortunately, you went against the royals, what a shame" said the leader of the mercenaries, implying that he believed that the single mercenary would be enough to take down Damian.

Damian was by no means intimidated or afraid, but he still kept his distance from the mercenary and prepared himself for whatever was coming his way.

What happened next was something that he didn't expect in the slightest and the mercenary suddenly threw his sabre to the side, which didn't make sense to Damian in the slightest.

"You were able to copy my sabre techniques and fighting styles, then why don't you try copying this" taunted the mercenary as he opened up his hands and formed what seemed to be blades out of his hands.

It seemed to be some sort of Soul Spirit that used external energy to allow one to sharpen and harden their hands and the sides of their arms to the point that they are equivalent to blades.

Damian hadn't expected that the mercenary still had such a unique and unexpected ability hidden and he was unsure exactly how powerful that ability would be.

If his arms and hands really were as capable as blades, that made him extremely dangerous as the flexibility of his hands and arms far surpassed that of a blade, however, it also meant that he had to get close to Damian in order to use the ability.

Damian still stayed calm and gathered that his best bet at taking him down was by exploiting the injured right leg of the mercenary and the fact that he had to get close to take him down.

Thinking about needing to face many more mercenaries that were even more powerful than the one he was facing, Damian was beginning to feel as though winning alone.

However, as long as he saved as much energy as he could and wasted as much time as possible, he would have more time to await assistance or think of a way to get out of the situation he was in.

Damian extended the length of his fire blade that was formed and sustained by his energy as he fought defensively and sparingly against the mercenary.

The mercenaries attacks were much faster and more unpredictable than before, and Damian also couldn't learn anything from them or recognise a pattern.

Damian fought him for a few minutes and it was clear that the mercenary was tiring out quicker than Damia,n who was using much less energy and also had denser energy storages than even cultivators at cultivation level above him.

The mercenary, becoming more fatigued and using up his energy storages, knew that he would have to finish the battle soon and even while using his Soul Spirit, Damian was still a tough ad capable opponent that he hadn't injured much.

Damian had a few slashes all over his body, but they weren't particularly deep or life-threatening, however over time they would weaken him greatly and he was losing quite a lot of blood.

Desperate to catch the careful and skilled Damian off guard and also finish the battle in a single move, the mercenary jumped up into the air and gathered all the strength he had left and jumped up into the air.

He struck down with great force and Damian acted as though he was about to block the downwards slash that was coming towards him and put up his Fire Blade, however as the mercenary neared him, he stumbled backwards and fell onto the ground.

The mercenary he was facing along with those that were watching felt as though it was unusual that Damian would make such a big mistake and give up in the face of the powerful downwards strike.

However, what they didn't expect was for Damian to form a long fire spear in his left hand and pierce it straight into the chest of the mercenary, who was slashing downwards towards him.

The flaming spear pierced straight through and caused the mercenary great pain and was sure to kill him, nevertheless, the mercenary was still slashing downwards despite the spear in his chest and was aiming to take down Damian with him.

Damian was helpless and gambled with the sudden spear attack, but never expected that the mercenary would have such a strong willpower and pierce the spear all the way through his body and continue trying to kill him.
