Juin hesitated for a while before nodding.

"In which case, you are kind of a wild card," Mr. Thompson said. He then looked at Cyrus and asked, "Before this, did anyone see your human face?"

Cyrus shook his head. "I was in my original form until I arrived here…"

"Good," Mr. Thompson said and looked back at Juin. "That makes him a wild card too… When you finally decided on a group, just say that Cyrus is a beast who is also your pet, but don't mention his true identity. That way, Cyrus and you can be considered as one entity, and he won't be forced into joining as well."

"A pet?!" Cyrus gasped indignantly. "I'm an almighty Zheng!"

"Unless you enjoy being captured and tortured, I'd suggest you do as you're told," Mr. Thompson said with a stern expression. "We are trying to keep the both of you alive for as long as possible."

Cyrus pouted and folded his arms angrily. "This is stupid!"

Juin glanced at Cyrus briefly before asking Mr. Thompson, "Do you know what's the Battle is going to be like this year? And if it's worth me risking my life?"

Mr. Thompson nodded. "As a matter of fact, yes… The information came in yesterday when you were still unconscious. This year, it will be a group exploration style."

"Group exploration style? That means that I have to have friends?" Juin frowned. He had friends, which were few to begin with… And he definitely did not have any supernatural beings that he could trust and group up with.

"Or just 3 other people with the same goal…" Mr. Thompson said as he shrugged. "The Organization has given every group a list of things to collect, and to enter the final round, the participants must collect everything on the list."

"That sounds easy…?"

"I highly doubt it," Mr. Thompson said. "If the Organization is making the dimension into part of the Battle, then it's probably filled with extreme danger. Especially with the prize involved."

"Such as?"

"Each surviving participant that qualified for the final round will get $1 million--"

"Cough… Cough… Cough…" Juin patted his chest, having forgotten about his injury, and immediately regretted his action. After taking a few moments to gather his breath, he looked at Mr. Thompson and asked in disbelief, "$1 million?!"

"That's nothing, really…" Mr. Thompson said nonchalantly. "The final winner from the last Battle won $ 15 million… And that was considered low, but only because it was one of the simpler Battle."

"Wait, wait, wait…" Juin considered himself as someone who could care less about money, but even so, when Mr. Thompson mentioned the prize money, he started to think of all the things that he could do with the prize money. Shaking his head, he then asked, "You mean to say that the prize money is different every year?"

Juin nearly blurted out, "Where can I sign up…", when he realized what Mr. Thompson said at the beginning. "With such a prize… It means that the Battle this year is unprecedented?"

Mr. Thompson nodded. "It's a new dimension, though I believe that the Organization has kept eyes on it for a while, centuries even, and they probably decided that it's safe to enter now…

"And those set prizes aside, they believe that there are various artifacts and medicinal items there, which are up for grabs. All they want are the items on the list. And the best price of all, for the first group that successfully brings back the items that the Organization wants, the Organization will gift each of them a Portal Stabilizer… which is unheard of!"

"Portal Stabilizer?" Juin asked in a curious tone.

"It's an extremely rare item, Juin," Mr. Thompson said. "And as far as I know, only the Organization has it… and they are the only one who knows how to create it."

And many would covet it. With the Portal Stabilizer, they could go into any dimensions they wanted without receiving any backlashes.

Juin thought about it seriously and wondered if he would be able to send Lucifer back home with it.

With the prizes involved, he could see why the smaller groups kept sending their members even though the winners were usually those from the three big groups.

And why Mr. Thompson was sure that the groups would be coming after him. His strength aside, he was of the right age to enter the competition. And in this kind of high-risk battles, the more members they had, the better.

"But aren't there anyone from the dimension that will stop the participants?" Juin asked curiously, feeling as if something was not right here.

By now, Cyrus had already climbed onto Juin's hospital bed and was sitting cross-legged on the bed as he waited for Mr. Thompson's reply. He had no interest in the money or prizes, but there seemed to be a lot of fighting involved, and he liked to fight.

Mr. Thompson thought for a while before replying, "According to the information sent by the Organization, every being capable of speech of the world were wiped out by something unknown… leaving only low-intelligence creatures… So, other than the other participants, the only danger would be these low-intelligence creatures--"

"Waittt…" Juin held a hand up, palm facing Mr. Thompson. "The beings were wiped out?"

"Only beings capable of speech… Probably the human version of that world," Mr. Thompson said. "The Organization believes that whatever it was that got rid of them is long gone… so you should be safe."

"Should be?" Juin's eyes widened as he asked, "My life is at stake here… What if I get killed by the monster instead of the other participants?"

"That's why this is a group battle," Mr. Thompson said. "High-risk, high rewards. Besides, I'm sure the organization has been sending scouts there. If they found nothing by now, that monster is probably gone… And if it's not… Well, you just have to figure out a way to dodge it."
