He could not fully understand the meaning of the howls. Perhaps it was more of an instinct thing that all beasts could feel. He felt strongly that the howl was meant to keep certain beings away. And most of the scents were getting softer and softer, some even too soft for him to detect, which meant that whoever those scents belonged to were heading away from the hospital.

They then looked at Juin, who was slightly pale.

By now, Juin had already been exposed to a lot of supernatural stuff, so he was aware that he could not remain naive forever. So, just like them, he knew that there were people, or demons, waiting for him outside the hospital.

Looking at his weak limbs, he sighed and said, "Mr. Thompson, maybe you should leave. I won't--"

"Don't worry about me," Mr. Thompson said nonchalantly as he went back to the chair that he was sleeping on earlier. If things got out of hand, he had a talisman from Warlock, which could be used to alert him, so he was not about to leave Juin unattended now.

"I don't feel good about this…" Juin murmured in a soft voice, clearly unsettled by the thoughts that someone might get injured because of him.

"Then quickly make a choice… At this point, you can't hide anymore. No..." Mr. Thompson looked at him with a pair of sharp, experienced eyes. "From the moment you chose to touch the things that don't belong to you, your choice to hide has been taken away from you."

Juin stared at the ceiling wordlessly. He was sure that he wasn't the only teenage boy who touched things that did not belong to him, but why was he the only one who had to suffer through such troublesome times?

"He's right… I don't really have much of a choice now…" he thought wryly as he started to weigh the pros and cons of things. Looking at the calling card that was lying on top of his clothes, which were placed on the small stand next to the bed, he thought to himself, "Juin, you are no longer just a 16-year-old Earth boy… You can't think like a teenager anymore…"

He did not know how long he had been thinking, but soon, his view of the ceiling was replaced by pure darkness… And he was soon dreaming about being on the cliff again.

But this time, everything was completely different from before. The sun was up, and there was not a dark cloud in sight. He was sitting near the edge of the cliff with his legs stretched out in front of him as he looked at the beautiful blue cloud up ahead.

"Juin…"

The familiar voice caught his attention, and Juin glanced back, only to see into a pair of bright, blue eyes. Startled, he murmured, "Ashton, is that necessary?"

The boy's platinum blonde hair swayed slightly in the air as he laughed. "It's fun… You were out of it. What were you thinking about?"

"Doesn't that remind you of something?" Ashton asked, as he pointed at a cloud.

With a smile, Juin followed the direction of Ashton's finger and saw a huge cloud that resembled something familiar. "Oh, a horned goat…"

Suddenly, something clicked in his mind, and Juin glanced at Ashton. He then sat up and looked around, particularly in the forest near the cliff, seemingly looking for someone.

"What's wrong?" Ashton asked as he sat up as well, wondering why Juin's expression suddenly changed.

"I…" Juin looked at Ashton in the eye, and after a while, he thought to himself, "I'm in a dream again…"

"Juin?" Ashton asked with a worried expression.

Juin shook his head and reassured him, "I'm fine… I thought I heard someone…"

Since he realized that he was in a dream, he was actually looking to see if Lucifer was nearby.

Ashton chuckled and quickly took a look around before saying, "There's no one here…"

"Ashton," Juin suddenly said. When Ashton looked at him, Juin's expression softened as he mumbled, "It's been a while…"

"We see each other every day, what are you talking about?" Ashton laughed. "If we see each other more often, it would be extremely weird…"

Hearing him, Juin grinned slightly. "Yeah, you're right…"

He then thought for a while before asking, "I have a question… What if..."

And he started creating a scenario based on the things that were happening to him in real life and asked Ashton what he should do.

"You already have a decision in your heart, don't you?" Ashton replied with a grin.

Juin hesitated for a while before nodding. "I don't know if that's the right decision… I'm not… I'm not that brave to fight the monsters. Heck! I'm not even brave enough to fight against kids younger than me."

"And you won't know until you do it…" Ashton looked up at the sky and said, "You've always been adventurous, and now that this opportunity presents itself to you, I'm sure that, deep down, it's hard to reject it."

"Me? Adventurous?" Juin scoffed.

"You are… You used to watch those adventure-based movies… I know that you want there to be something more in life… Something more exciting…"

"I… do?"

"That's who you are," Ashton said, looking at Juin with a smile. "I'm sorry that I forced you to stay low…"

"Yeah… Why did you do that?" Juin asked with a sigh. "You don't know how confused I am when Warlock told me that the demon soul within me is special and strong… And how afraid I am that I might one day lose control of it."

Instead of answering, Ashton merely shrugged.

"You can't answer that because you are not the real Ashton, right?" Juin asked with a sad smile. By now, he had known that the Ashton with whom he had been talking to in his dreams was only a part of his subconscious instead of a spell or magic that Ashton placed on him so that he could be with him… That was why Ashton's answers had always been according to what Juin could remember.

It was the words that Juin thought Ashton would say if he were here.

And it was time for him to fully accept it. "I can only get the real answers once I have found you…" he said, looking at dream Ashton.

"I'm sorry…" Ashton murmured. "But I know that you can handle the dormant part of your demon soul… You just need to know that it's possible to change one's destiny. Even if you can't change the outcome, you can change the path that leads to the outcome."

Juin frowned. He remembered hearing Ashton said this before, but just like then, he had no idea what Ashton meant by it.

"And I have never intended to hurt you…" Ashton said.

"I know…"

"Once you wake up, things will not be the same…" Ashton reminded him.

"It hasn't been the same since a long time ago," Juin said as Ashton's face slowly got more and more translucent, until he completely disappeared, and Juin's surroundings were completely replaced by a completely white environment.
