"The princesses are having a battle," Lann explained with a worried look. They climbed onto the higher seats where she then pointed at the two women battling within the open area. Looking at them, Lann muttered, "I'm worried about Princess Cecile. I overheard some of the citizens talking earlier. Apparently, Princess Cecile has been having a lot of fights lately, and she's always on the losing side. Besides, I heard that she's not as strong as First Princess Iris, and she was badly injured the last time they fought."

"Wait…" Tucker said while waving his hands around. With a confused expression, he asked, "Isn't Cecile the First Princess?"

He then looked over at the two young women who were battling it out with their water-based spells and weapons. Like most Atlanteans, they had blue hair as well, just of varying degrees. Despite them living in water for most of their lives, one of them had a slightly tanned skin, as if she had been going up to the surface and sunbathed often.

"Not since three years ago. A lot of things have changed since the last I was here," Lann said with a sad tone. In the time since she arrived, she found out that a lot of things had changed since the last time they were here for training. "King Adam passed away while attempting to settle a dispute at the border. The current king is Frederic, and since he has children of his own, naturally, the succession path, as well as the heirs, have changed. As of right now, the crown prince is Prince Renaud."

"Renaud?" Tucker frowned. He recalled the gentle and mild-mannered young nephew of King Adam, the king who was in reign when he last visited 15 years ago. "No, that's not right. Even if the old king had passed away, there's still that little baby… Tomas, isn't it?"

When he was here 15 years ago, King Adam's only son had just been born. He should be 15 years old now, more than ready to be a king. After all, he had his older sister to help him.

In Terre D'eau, daughters could be queen, but only if there were no direct male heirs. Before the birth of Tomas, King Adam raised Princess Cecile to be the next queen. She was supposed to be the First Princess first, then when she turned 12, she would be appointed Crown Princess.

But right before her 12th birthday, her mother got pregnant, and they postponed the appointment. Lo and behold, a male heir was born.

Tucker could still remember, instead of being upset, Cecile was genuinely happy and in love with her younger brother. She even told Tucker that she would do everything she could to protect her younger brother and make sure that he grew up to be a good, wise king.

Looking at Lann, Tucker prayed in his heart that everything was fine.

Yet the sad expression on Lann's face told him otherwise, that nothing was fine.

"Tomas…" Lann shook her head slowly and said in a soft voice, "He passed away 3 years ago from an allergic reaction while visiting one of the towns. It happened not long after his coronation..."

"But... " This time, Tucker's expression changed instantly. With a solemn face, he said, "If he died 3 years ago…"

He looked at Cyrus who looked back at him innocently. "He's about 12 years old, no?" Tucker asked, looking at Lann with a frown.

The last time they saw Crown Prince Tomas, he was so energetic and loveable that she kept playing with him when they were on a break… to the point that Luca got slightly upset and challenged the kid to a battle.

And the two even promised each other to spar again the next time they meet.

To think that so many things happened in the 5 years that they were gone...

"Sh*t!" Tucker cursed. "Sh*t! Sh*t! Sh*t! What the hell!"

"Mr. Tucker?" Juin asked, "Do you know them well?"

Tucker gulped and nodded. He was a close friend of the late King Adam, so naturally, his death affected him slightly.

Seeing Tucker's angry expression, Lann explained to the boys, "Tucker and the late King Adam used to be sparring partners whenever we came here for our training sessions. Of course, that was a long time ago, but even after we were no longer eligible for the Battle of the Underground Beings, we still used to come every 5 years, and your teacher and the king would still spar with each other."

"15 years… 15 years was but a blink of an eye for them… I didn't expect…" Tucker blinked his eyes a couple of times. Even though the time passed in the same manner as on Earth, the Atlanteans had way longer life spans, and given King Adam's strength, Tucker would have never guessed that the man would die so young.

He looked at Lann and asked, "But why is Frederic the new king? Cecile should have been appointed Queen!"

Lann shrugged. "I asked, but no one wanted to say anything to me."

Both of them glanced at each other while frowning, yet not a word was passed between their lips. They knew. If the throne had been passed over voluntarily, then the citizens would not be afraid of saying something to them. Something had gone wrong.

Tucker then took a few deep breaths. He clenched and unclenched his fists a couple of times before saying, "Alright, boys… Let's be quiet and see who wins this round… I remember Cecile used to be able to fight well. If it's not because of Tomas' birth, she would have been the crown princess."

All of them looked at the two princesses, one of which was holding a sword that was decorated with precious red rubies and the other was holding a seemingly simple trident.
