"Heat!"

Using a simple spell that he learned previously, the air surrounding Juin turned somewhat distorted. Within seconds, and visible to one's n.a.k.e.d eye, his previously drenched clothes dried up quickly.

When the last drop of water was evaporated from the surface of his body, he smiled and looked up at the princess. "Having the ability to control flames can come in handy…"

"Ah, I was wondering why your surrounding seemed so distorted earlier," the princess said, "so it turns out that you were using flames? But I didn't see any fire!"

"I can create enough heat without generating flames," Juin explained rather shyly as he scratched the back of his head. "But it took longer than I thought… Usually, I can dry myself up quicker."

"It's probably the environment. After all, you are surrounded by water," Princes Cecile said. "Everyone here is blessed with the power to control water, and the only difference is the extent and how much power we can use… But I have seen the fights between Mr. Tucker and my father before. Mr. Tucker's flames had the tendency to go wrong when he's here…"

There was a subtle change in her expression when she mentioned her father.

And Juin noticed that.

With a somewhat awkward smile, he said, "I'm sorry to hear about your parents and your brother."

"Don't be…" Princess Cecile said with a sad smile, "You're not the one who caused their deaths…"

Not knowing what to say, Juin then tried to change the subject. "I'm also sorry to have shown you such an embarrassing sight of me, Princess Cecile. I'm not usually this clumsy."

"Pfft…"

He could hear the snicker in Lucifer's snort, but he ignored the Daemon King.

"It's alright…" The princess smiled rather politely before signaling Juin to join her at the pavilion.

After they sat down on the round marble chairs, she said, "Now that I have seen you closer, I remember you now. You were the one who jumped out to save Arthur."

With a slight blush, Juin said, "I… I didn't create any trouble for you, did I, Your Highness?"

"Of course not…" she said with a smile. At this time, her servant girl came over with a hot pot of water and a plate of small bite-sized cakes in the shapes of shells. After dismissing her servant, Princess Cecile said, "Your name is Juin, right? Arthur is safely back in my side of the palace now, all thanks to you and Mr. Tucker. He told me everything, and I don't know how I can repay you."

"There's no need…" Juin said shyly. His eyes kept darting around, as if he was looking for something.

Noticing his weird behavior, the princess asked, "Did you lose something, Mr. Juin? Do you need someone to help you look for it?"

As she asked, her hand subconsciously went to push a stray strand of blue hair and tuck it behind her ear, and her simple action did not go unnoticed by Juin.

"I…" He gulped and answered, "I was looking for someone… There was a kid…"

"A kid?" the princess asked. "Here? But you are the only one I saw…"

"What?" Juin blinked. He then frowned and c.o.c.ked his head slightly. "I could have sworn that there's a kid here…"

"I don't think so," the princess said with an affirmative tone. "There's only one entrance to his place, and before I came over, I asked the guard on duty, and he said that there's a guest who entered a few minutes before me. If I had known that it was you, Arthur's savior, I wouldn't have questioned you so rudely like that just now. Please do forgive me, Mr. Juin."

"Err… It's fine. You didn't do anything, Your Highness," Juin said. He then thought to himself, "Huh… Did my eyes play really trick on me? But that kid's voice seemed so real and near…"

He then sighed as he massaged his glabella and thought, "I must have eaten too much earlier."

"Did you enjoy yourself a little too much at the banquet?" the princess suddenly asked as she pulled out a small tea bag from the little bag that was hung on her waist. As she placed the tea bag into the pot of water, she said, "You seem to be a little unwell. This is a tea made from the Blue Algae that only grows in the south of Arconis, almost at the border. And the water is collected from the glacier up North. When combined, they make a tea that's highly effective for settling the stomach after overeating and can help calm one down."

"I-I'm fine… Really…"

"Well," Princess Cecile chuckled softly and said, "have some anyway. They taste good. I remember Mr. Tucker used to like this tea too… And the cakes. These are my favorite, so do try some if you are feeling better..."

Juin nodded, not willing to reject her kindness. He reached out for one of the cakes that looked like a clamshell and took a small bite. When he bit into the cake, his eyes went wide and he gasped, "This… This is really good! I've never tasted anything like this before! It's so soft and airy! Like biting into cotton candy! But this is so solid!"

Looking at Juin's expression, Princess Cecile could not help herself, and she chuckled again. "You and Mr. Tucker are so alike… He also likes this cake."

Juin looked away sheepishly. After a while, he asked, "You mentioned earlier that my power was slightly weakened because of the environment that we are in at the moment… Erm…"

"You want to ask if you can circ.u.mvent that?" Princess Cecile asked with a polite smile. She had been through a few of the Order's elimination battle to know what kind of questions newcomers would ask.

Embarrassed that he was so obvious, Juin glanced down as he nodded. "Yeah… This is my first elimination battle…"

Princess Cecile reached over and poured a cup of hot tea into Juin's cup. She then did the same for her own. When she placed the teapot down, she picked up her cup of tea and looked up at the sky, where the moon was.

This place was created before she was even born, perhaps it was even created before her grandparents were born. She had long forgotten about the history of this place. All she knew was that, a long, long time ago, the citizens of Arconis were prohibited from going up to the land without permission, and for safety reasons, royals were completely forbidden from going at all.

To please the royals who were burdened by even tighter and stricter rules than now, this place was created so that the royals living in the palace could take a look at the world above the sea.

Over the years, the rules were slowly relaxed, especially since the members of the royal family kept growing stronger and stronger, and by the time Princess Cecile was born, the members of the royal families were allowed to go up to the surface as long as they brought their private guards with them.

Princess Cecile often visited the surface to look at the moon. It was almost a daily trip to her, and on the nights that she could not go such as tonight, she would take a trip to this Moon Pavilion to look at the fake moon.
