Feeling somewhat uncomfortable by Juin's gaze, the princess asked while lightly touching her cheek, "Is there something wrong with my face?"

"No… But you seem sad and lonely…" Juin blurted out. He then gasped and quickly shook his head as he said, "I'm sorry, Your Highness! I didn't mean anything by it… It's because you said you don't know why you are telling me all these, and I-I sometimes do that as well, mentioning things to people randomly."

Scratching the back of his head nervously, he then muttered, "P-Please don't be offended by it."

Thankfully, she was not offended at all, but she still asked, "How could you tell?"

"I… I used to see those same expression staring back at myself every day…" Juin admitted with a solemn expression. Holding onto the now empty cup of tea, he said in a soft voice, "I… I was an orphan… For the longest time, I thought I was abandoned. It was only recently that I found out that my parents were murdered."

"I'm sorry…"

"No, don't get me wrong. I was just a baby when it happened, and I don't have any memories of them… So, I don't have the necessary feeling of attachment to them to feel overly sadden by it," said Juin blankly.

He played with the cup in his hand as he continued, "But even so, I understand how you felt. What it was like to have a family member taken away from you. I have a best friend who is like brother to me… We grew up together in the same orphanage. For the last few years, I thought that he was dead, and I felt extremely alone and abandoned… And during those times, even though I had Wesley and Mrs. Martin, I often see the same expression on your face on mine. Like I was all alone in this world..."

Looking at her, he then asked in a soft voice, "Do you feel the same way, Your Highness? That you are all alone?"

"Let me ask you something, Mr. Juin…" Princess Cecile said as she reached over to pour another cup of tea into his cup.

"Please go ahead."

"You said you thought he was dead… But he's not?"

"No, I… don't think so," Juin said, taking a sip of the hot tea. "I think he's stuck in a different world. No, I'm sure that's the case! He's still alive, and I'm going to find him one day!"

"And when you found out that he's stuck in a different world, you no longer feel lonely?" Princess Cecile asked in a gentle voice.

"No…" Because at that time, he had Lucifer, and he found out so many more things about himself that he no longer felt like an outsider. "I have a purpose now… To find him..." he said, but he did not add on the last part---"and to find out everything about myself… and to get Lucifer home."

Hearing the determination in his voice, Princess Cecile smiled. She looked over at the stream, which was the place where her younger brother used to play at, and said, "So do I. For the longest time, I was completely weighted down by my sorrow and pain… But now, I have a purpose…"

Her eyes narrowed at the stream as she continued, "I might still feel lonely occasionally, but I'm not going to let it take me down. I'll live for my purpose, and until I complete it, I won't let my sorrow take over my life… If I have to die for my purpose, then so be it..."

For some reason, when she said the word "purpose", her tone changed slightly. And that last part of her words… Juin felt an ominous feeling welling up in his heart, as if he could sense that she was about to do something dangerous.

However, he quickly shook that feeling away, telling himself that he barely knew this woman so there was no way he could feel something like that from her. Even if he did, did he have the power to interfere?

After a while, the princess looked at Juin again and chuckled softly. "I really don't know why, but I like talking to you even though we just met. Perhaps it's because we are two lonely people who have just found our purposes to keep living through our pain."

"I don't know about that," Juin said before taking a sip, "but I know I enjoy listening to your voice, Your Highness…"

The princess' face turned red slightly when she heard Juin's words, and she quickly turned her head away slightly. "You're quite a flirt, Mr. Juin."

"What?" Juin blinked. "Erm, did I say something wrong?"

Perhaps it was also the effect of the tea, but to him, her voice was soothing and calm, and it just made him completely relax. He did not know that he had just said something flirtatious to the princess of a great country.

Princess Cecile sighed and merely smiled at him. She then stood up, and when Juin also stood up out of respect, she extended a hand and said, "It's getting late, and I should really head back to the banquet before my uncle sends someone to look for me. You should head back soon too. I wish you all the luck at your elimination battle tomorrow, Mr. Juin…"

"Thanks…" Juin shook her hand.

To his surprise, she suddenly leaned forward and whispered, "Try your best to leave here alive, alright, Mr. Juin?"

To his even bigger surprise, she then kissed him on the cheek before smiling and walking away.

Stunned, Juin's face quickly turned red as he watched her walk away with his eyes wide open in shock and his lips slightly parted.

"What are you so startled for? You did that to the Max girl…"

Lucifer's voice that was filled with a teasing tone came from within his mind.

"But she's a princess…" Juin said in an almost whispery tone as he lightly touched the cheek that Cecile kissed. "And… that's the first time a girl other than all my previous guardians kissed me voluntarily…"
