The next day,

Juin got up early and went to sit in the garden as he tried to calm himself down. His eye bags were deep and dark. After what happened last night at the garden, he was unable to sleep through the night peacefully.

Thankfully, he was still able to get at least two hours of sleep in the end. When he woke up, he wanted to get his mind back on track again, so he went to the garden of their abode to do some meditation.

And he wasn't the only one. A lot of the young members of the Order, who would be undergoing their first elimination battle, were nervous, and some of them were meditating in the garden as they tried to calm themselves down.

Various auras and powers could be felt in the air at the moment. Some of the youngest members, who were around six to seven years old, were being consoled by their teachers or parents as they cried and begged not to be forced into the battle.

These kids, while born in a family of supernaturals, had never gone through pain in their lives, so when they heard that sometimes, there would be a death or two, or worse, a broken bone, they were immediately scared out of their wits.

And things were only made worse when they saw the older teenagers who were meditating and exuding terrifying auras.

"Maybe it's not a good idea…" Juin thought before standing up. He walked back to his room, bumping into Luca and Lann, who were heading out. From the way they were dressed, with Luca in a set of sports attire and Lann in jeans, which was rare for her, it seemed that they were completely ready for the battle later. "Morning, Ms. Lann," Juin greeted.

"Morning, Juin," Lann said with a smile. "We are going to go out and get some breakfast. Would you like to join us?"

Even though Juin wanted to say yes, mostly to spite Luca, but in the end, he still shook his head. "I don't have an appetite for breakfast."

Hearing that, Lann nodded. "It's normal. After all, this would be your first elimination battle. In that case, we won't bother you longer. I'll see you at the arena later…"

She then walked ahead, with Luca following behind her. Yet when he passed by Juin, he stopped for a second and said in a low voice, "I won't hold back…"

"Neither would I," Juin sneered as he glared at Luca from the corner of his eye. He did not think that he was a brave person, but whenever he saw Luca, all his fear would disappear, and the only thing in his mind was that he wanted to teach this guy a lesson.

With determined gaze and burning eyes, the two of them then walked in the opposite directions, heading toward where they were supposed to be going. And at the same time, they were both impatient to meet each other in the arena.

When Juin got back to his room, Tucker was already inside, talking to Cyrus about something.

"Oh look, he's back," Tucker said nonchalantly as he looked at Juin. "Ready? We have to gather at the arena in an hour."

Juin nodded. "I guess…"

Tucker walked to Juin and looked down at his student. After a few seconds, he said, "Remember everything that I taught you, and use your brain well. I believe in you."

"No, you don't…" Juin sighed.

"Fine, that's just some customary words that I was told to say," Tucker said with an unapologetic chuckle. He then smiled and said, "But you are my only student, and the only one I will ever accept in this life, so that counts for something. I want you to fight to the best of your ability, but if you can't win… Then there's no harm in admitting defeat. A real hero needs to know when to back off."

Juin nodded.

"I don't think that you'd have the appetite to eat; most kids don't anyway. So, here, eat this," Tucker said, tossing him a small pillbox. "That's sort of an energy bar. It would keep the hunger pangs away until the end of the day."

Juin glanced at the pillbox for a few seconds before taking out the single pill within it and downed it. "Thank you, Mr. Tucker."

Placing a hand on Juin's shoulder, Tucker gave his shoulder a reassuring squeeze before saying, "Alright, time to get changed now. I'll see you at the living room in 45 minutes."

Juin nodded.

By the time Juin and Cyrus were completely ready and went to the living room, Tucker was already there, chatting with the other teachers… and making bets on whose students were going to last until the semi-finals.

And the man wasn't even ashamed of his own actions when he caught by those two. He merely bid farewell to the rest and left their abode together with Juin and Cyrus.

Having been used to Tucker's antics, Juin and Cyrus did not bother to mention about the bets. Instead, Tucker gave them a final reminder of who's who, who they should look out for, and what type of powers they had.

And they discussed this all the way until they reached the arena, which was already half full by now. On the way to their allocated seats, Tucker said, "The name of your first opponent will be posted after the speech by the king and Presley."

Juin nodded. He touched his palm as he thought about what Lucifer told him last night. If he won this elimination battle, Lucifer would teach him something a new flame-based spell, which apparently, was something that his mother left for him before she disappeared.

It was supposed to be one of a kind; a flame that could only be learned by a few talented people. When Juin refused to accept the bet—because if he lost, he would have to promise to do one thing for Lucifer in the future, and this promise was something that Lucifer could bring up on at any time and place—Lucifer told Juin that this flame-based spell was something of a legendary spell and that Juin would regret it one day if he refused to accept it.

Looking at his left hand now, he wondered if he made the right decision. While Lucifer promised that he would not make him do anything evil… but no matter what, the guy was still a Daemon King, which if they were in a movie, would make him the Lord of Hell or Lord of the Underworld.

"But it's not like we have never signed a contract before…" Juin thought to himself and sighed. Shaking his head, he then thought, "Don't think too much, Juin! All you need to do is to win the battle, then you can get something without giving him anything."
