A gigantic hand made of wind appeared right in front of his hand, and when he made a push motion gently, the hand moved toward Saville until Saville was completely within the grasp of the hand.

Caelian sighed and closed his right fingers into a fist, intending to crush his opponent thoroughly.

Just like some of the spectators, he thought that the battle had ended… until he heard laughter coming from within the wind hand.

With his eyes narrowed and his right fist still clenched tightly, he watched the wind hand.

"Ah… He broke it…" he muttered to himself with a slightly surprised tone.

Blue veins appeared all over the wind hand, like snakes that were attempting to eat every piece of the hand that caught them, until the hand was completely covered in blue veins, to the point that they no longer looked like veins.

"It's completely frozen!!!" someone yelled from the spectators' seats.

Crack…

BAMMMM!

The wind hand broke from within and exploded into thousands of tiny shards outward.

"Shield…" Caelian muttered, pulling up a wind shield in front of him.

Other than those that were blocked by the wind shield, the shards from the broken frozen hand cut past him in an angle and stabbed into the protective dome behind him, startling the spectators who were sitting behind him.

"Not bad, kid…" Saville said as he stood in midair. Yes, he was standing in midair. Somehow, in a few seconds, he managed to create a small, thin ice bridge that was connected to the protective dome. "Thank god for my Frost River…"

"Oh, one of the diamonds on his weapon became black!" Cyrus pointed out as he stood up and leaned forward at the banister. With his beast eyesight, he could see clearly despite the distance.

Tucker nodded. "That falchion has a name. Frost River, an A-rank weapon… See those diamonds? Each of them has the ability to store one of its user's spells, kind of like a reserve. Normally, in order to protect their soul power reserve during a battle, the wielder of Frost River would keep their heaviest, most-soul-power-required spell in those diamonds beforehand."

"I thought that's just for decoration…" Juin said as he scratched his chin. "I didn't know it has such an amazing ability."

"That's what the creator wanted you to see…" Tucker said as he nodded slowly. He then explained, "Frost River was created by William Roc.h.e.s.ter… Well, that's the name of his human alias. Where he came from, he was called Aurgelmir, but in human history, he's mostly known as Ymir."

"That's…" Juin frowned slightly as he tried to remember what he read from the books on mythology before. "That's a giant… that lived in a snow mountain."

Tucker gave him a quick glance before looking at the battle stage. "An ice giant… A very powerful ice giant. Ymir was one of the earliest supernatural creatures who came to Earth, perhaps even before Earth got its name. When he eventually got bored of living in the snow mountain and after living in solitude for a long time, and after sleeping for hundreds of years, he took on a human form by sacrificing his powerful and almost immortal giant body, taking on the mortal life that was full of limitations, and eventually settling down in England.

"Yet knowing that he might not be safe, given his unfamiliarity with humans, in order to protect himself, he used the last two things that were left behind after the sacrifice… His heart and a t.h.i.g.h bone. Using the powder that he got from grinding the t.h.i.g.h bone and the heart as the fuel of the flames, he created the falchion known as the Frost River. It has been the heirloom of the Roc.h.e.s.ter Family since then, passed down from the eldest son to the eldest son…"

Juin nodded in fascination. "Aurgelmir sounds like a powerful creature… Then shouldn't the weapon that he created using his old body be powerful, almost immortal rank even?"

"Again, we don't know about the truth behind the existence of immortal rank weapons, if it existed at all… But if there's really such a thing such as immortal rank weapons, then perhaps it was one at one point…"

"I don't get it…" Juin admitted. Tucker's words were confusing to him.

Even Cyrus had a confused and dumbfounded look on his face as well.

"Some people believe that weapons have lives and that they can develop sentience…" Tucker said slowly. "And that the more powerful the weapon, the more will it has…"

He then looked at the two confused boys with an expression that said, "You should be able to tell what I meant…"

However, what he received was just two boys with a similar blank expression.

"Err… Further elaboration, please…" Juin said with a sheepish grin after exchanging a glance with Cyrus.

Suddenly, an arrogant voice in his mind said, "A weapon can choose to dumb itself down, or in other words, it can drop ranks if it wants to."

The owner of the voice was naturally Lucifer, who was bored out of his mind sitting in the Soul Dimension.

"Huh?" Juin suddenly sat up straight. "It can drop ranks?"

Tucker looked at him, and after a few seconds, he said, "You know about that or that little demon you have with you just told you?"

"What the hell did he mean by 'little'?! If I want to, I can kill him!" Lucifer grumbled in the Soul Dimension, which was then ignored by Juin.

Looking at Tucker, Juin merely shrugged while scratching the back of his head. "So, weapons can really drop their ranks?"

"Not really drop, but disguise. A weapon is but an extension of its wielder's power. No matter how strong a weapon is, if its wielder is weak, he or she will never be able to fully utilize the weapon. And for an immortal rank weapon… No, even for an S-rank weapon, such as the one you have with you, it can also develop sentience after a long time. Imagine this. You are a powerful weapon, one that can move the earth, but your user is a… monkey. Would you bother to show your full strength to a monkey?"

"Err… No?"

"Yeah, so if you don't want to do it, you will just pretend that you are a lower-rank weapon."

"Oooh…" Juin then looked over at Saville, and he suddenly imagined an ape with Saville's face on it. With that, he had to cover his mouth to stop himself from laughing out loud. When he had finally gained full control of himself, he looked at Tucker and asked, "Mr. Tucker, if a weapon can dumb itself down, can it raise in ranks as well?"

"Of course!" Tucker said. "Didn't I tell you this before?"

Both Cyrus and Juin said at the same time, "No!"

"Well…" Tucker scratched his cheek sheepishly as he said, "Yes, a weapon can raise in ranks, but usually, this is only the case if it's an A-rank weapon to begin with. You can upgrade a weapon by reinforcing it with valuable materials, or… if you are cheap, feed it with more lives."

"Feed it… with lives?" Juin's eyes went wide open as he asked, "Like you have to kill someone?"

"Yeah, and--"

BAM!!!

Before Tucker could elaborate further, a loud bam caught his, and everyone else's, attention.
