They quickly got into position, but even after the judge announced that the battle had began and that the protective dome ward was activated, both of them merely stood on opposite sides as they stared at each other.

"Paul, are you serious about this?" Juin asked, with Cyrus standing behind him. "You could guess seriously hurt."

Paul shrugged and clasped his hands behind his back. "I guess."

Juin was about to advise him to quit when Paul continued, "My teacher said that you are just someone who has gained the power of an unknown demon. I was born into a supernatural family, so I can't possibly be losing to a newbie."

"You really want to fight me?"

"Well… According to our records of you, you don't seem very strong," Paul said with brutal honesty. "In that case…"

Juin suddenly felt something from behind him and turned around, only to see that a water hand was heading toward him… And it was too late for him to dodge.

Grab!

The water hand grabbed him and lifted him up in midair.

"Master is right," Paul said with a smile as he moved his right hand forward, which was tightly clenched. "You are weak!"

With that, he clenched his right fist tighter.

"Urgh!" Juin g.r.o.a.n.e.d when he felt his organs being squished against each other. Angered at the sudden attack, he quickly formed a spell on his Soul Dimension.

"Huh?" Paul suddenly looked up in curiosity, especially when the water hand that was holding Juin prisoner started to tremble and hiss. "It's… boiling?"

Juin focused all his soul power and pushed the weakening water hand slightly open, before falling through it and landing on the ground. "That's not fun at all… It's like being hugged by a bear!" Juin complained as he massaged his shoulders.

"Can I?" Cyrus asked as he looked at Juin, clearly eager to fight.

Even though it might seem unfair, Juin still said, "Go."

Cyrus did not have the ability to control elements, so this would at least be somewhat a fair fight. Tucker was right. That Paul Patterson kid wasn't a complete noob. He knew what he should do, and he had done research on Juin.

And based on his last attack, it seemed that the young boy was well-versed in battle despite his gentle looks. Hence, Juin did not feel so bad now.

In fact, sending Cyrus to fight was better than him fighting Paul by himself. At least, if Paul accidentally got hurt, he would be hurt by a "little beast" instead of him. His conscience would feel better.

"Wimp…"

Lucifer's word did not have any effect on Juin. He would rather wimp out than to hurt a little boy. While Paul wasn't a defenseless little boy, based on his earlier attack, Juin could tell that he wasn't that strong either. Sure, the boy might have been concealing his power, but Juin was unwilling to take the risk.

Besides, if Cyrus couldn't handle it, he could still go in and back him up later.

"Wait, you're sending your pet?" Paul said when he saw Cyrus walking in. "That's not fair!"

"Well, call your own pet if you don't think it's fair!" Cyrus smirked as he stood with his arms folded.

Paul pouted, and he quickly raised two hands, before making a push motion toward Cyrus, upon which, two swirling water came out from the "air" behind him and moved at an incredible speed toward Cyrus.

BAM!

The two swirling water landed on where Cyrus was standing, but the little beast was gone.

Paul looked to the side and saw Cyrus landing on the battle stage on all four.

"Too slow!" Cyrus growled before suddenly disappearing.

"Sh*t!" Paul quickly formed a water shield to protect himself, but just as he managed to form it, Cyrus appeared in front of him with his left arm raised and claws out.

"Weak! Cyrus sneered as he pierced through the water shield with his claws and stabbed Paul in the shoulder.

"Argh!" Paul cried out as he was thrown backward and off the stage, his back hit the protective ward where his teacher was sitting.

Holding his bleeding arm, Paul looked up at Cyrus. His eyes were filled with tears as he cried, "That's not fair! You're a beast!"

"And you have the power to control water. What's not fair about it?" Cyrus scoffed. He then lifted his right hand that still had all five claws, with two of them covered in blood, and said with a smile, "If you return to this stage, I'll use all five claws, and next time, it's going to be your face."

"I-I surrender!!!" Paul yelled out in fear.

As soon as he said those words, the ward for the protective dome was deactivated, and Juin and Cyrus could see the spectators.

"BOO!!!"

"What kind of a fight is that?!"

That's not fair! How could he used his pet when the kid had to fight on his own?!"

"Can someone penalize that teenager?! That's totally two to one!"

"Rematch! Rematch!"

Juin ignored those people who kept complaining and asking for a rematch, but somehow, he saw someone annoying.

"What's wrong with that guy this time?" Juin thought to himself when Luca stormed off in anger. "He really needs a chill pill."

At this point, the judge announced Juin as the winner.

"Well, that's an easy win…" Tucker said with a smile. However, Juin knew that the smile wasn't because of him; it was because of the winnings from the bet Tucker made earlier. As they walked out of the stage, Tucker suddenly said, "You can't get any practice in, but it doesn't matter. Paul is not strong enough for you to learn anything from anyway. We'll get you someone to practice with in the next round."

Juin nodded.

...

As for Luca, after he stormed off from the royal arena and went to deal with his next opponent… The battle ended in less than 2 minutes, and his opponent was truly terrified of him after that.

"Luca," Lann said, "You went overboard earlier. Your opponent wasn't even that strong, you didn't have to--"

"I don't care!" Luca snapped. He then felt guilty, so he quickly softened his voice and said, "I'm sorry, Master… It's just that… I-I was annoyed and frustrated earlier!"

"Because of Juin's battle?"

"That's not even a battle! He just let his beast do the work for him!" Luca complained. He then looked at Soren and said, "I might as well let Soren fight my battles for me! That stupid wimp!"

Seeing her disciple's agitated expression, Lann could not help but chuckle. "Maybe he will show you something more interesting in the next round."
