Two hours later, Juin was standing on the battle stage, facing off against Wolfe Sterling, who as usual, had his nose buried in a manga.

"WOLFE! YOU PUT THAT BOOK DOWN OR I AM GOING TO PUT YOU DOWN!!!"

Hearing that, Juin turned and saw a brown-haired man with a mask on his face pointing angrily at Wolfe.

"Is that his father?" Juin whispered to Cyrus, who was standing next to him with his arms folded. Based on the man's figure, as well as what Juin could remember from the brief glance that he had of Mr. Sterling before, he had a strong hunch that he was right.

And Cyrus confirmed it for him with a nod of his head.

"With a son like that, I'd have put a mask on as well," Cyrus remarked with a smirk.

The Head Judge walked up onto the stage and gave a brief glance to the two participants before sighing.

"One is a nerd that managed to get to this stage because of his brother's surrender and weak opponents, whereas the other one is someone who has depleted 90% of his energy… If I'm a betting man… I'd probably sit out of this game…" the Head Judge thought before turning to face the royalties.

"I'm sure all of you have been waiting for this and that you no longer have the patience to wait…" the Head Judge said loudly. And he waited for the cheers to die down before continuing, "As such, I should not delay your fun any longer. We will now commence with the battle between Juin and Wolfe Sterling!"

Just as he was about to signal the guards to activate the protective dome, he noticed that some of the spectators were pointing at him to look behind.

"Huh?" The Head Judge turned around and saw Wolfe Sterling with a hand raised. The guy still had his nose buried in the manga. "Yes, Mr. Sterling?"

Wolfe finally looked up. He yawned loudly before scratching the back of his head. "I forgot to tell you earlier. I'm forfeiting the match!"

The Head Judge's jaw dropped as he thought to himself. "Another forfeit?! Is this year the year of forfeits?! What's wrong with these kids?!"

There was a long and awkward silence before the crowd burst into anger.

"Another forfeit!"

"And from another Sterling as well!"

"Why don't you and your brother just change your surname to Forfeit?!"

Which was a good thing, because Wolfe wouldn't have to see his father's angry face or his mother's disappointed expression or his siblings facepalming themselves as they tried to bury their faces in each other's shoulders.

M-May I know why you are forfeiting, Mr. Sterling?" the Head Judge asked as he wiped his non-existent sweat with the back of his hand. "Are you injured in any way?"

Wolfe looked at him with an innocent expression. After a few blinks, he said, "Oh, I want to finish reading my stacks of manga before going back to Earth. Besides, there has already been a few forfeits, so what's one more, right?"

Unknown to him, the masked man sitting at the spectator seats was shouting angrily, "You stupid, lazy boy! See what would happen to your precious books when we are back!!!"

Lann, who was sitting in another seating zone, heard the man's threat, and she could not help but laugh softly. "Ah, Little Wolfe has never changed, has he?"

"He's just too lazy," Luca said with his eyes closed. Somehow, he was not surprised by this. He and Wolfe had been classmates for a couple of years now, and even though they had never fought before and they barely talked to each other, he knew what kind of personality the shapeshifter had.

Basically, Wolfe was the type that would want to do as little work as possible. Since they had already gotten a place in the First Team, naturally, Wolfe would want to spend his time resting and reading his manga instead of fighting.

Back on the stage, as Wolfe was about to leave the stage, he gave a quick glance to Juin.

Juin had his arms folded, and he quickly flashed Wolfe a quick thumbs up when he thought no one was watching.

"Ah, so that's what these two were talking about in the carriage earlier…" Cyrus thought to himself when he caught the exchange between those two. 30 minutes earlier, Juin slipped away from him and Tucker, and while looking for him, Cyrus saw Juin and Wolfe talking to each other.

Cyrus tried to listen in, but he could not catch what they were saying at all because of the Silence spell Juin cast.

When he called Juin's name, the latter quickly shook Wolfe's hand before heading over to join Cyrus. However, when Cyrus asked about the topic of their conversation, Juin merely smiled at him mischievously and said, "That's a secret between two teenage boys. You'll know when you are older."

After Wolfe walked off the stage, he immediately dashed off in one direction. The Head Judge and Juin could see him running off before hearing loud footsteps, followed by a gust of sand being kicked up.

The masked man was right behind Wolfe with a thunderous expression.

"Erm… He will be fine, right?" Juin mumbled to Cyrus as the man's back slowly disappeared from view.

"Probably… He's not the only Sterling that forfeited this year anyway," Cyrus said with a chuckle as he looked at the Head Judge, who had his head buried in his hands.

Juin nodded, hoping that this would be the case. He did not want to cause Wolfe too much trouble, especially since he did him such a huge favor.

He had a restless sleep earlier as he was trying to figure out how to win against Wolfe without sacrificing too much of his pills. In order to prepare for the battle against Wolfe, Juin had taken two pills, which replenished almost 70% of his soul power reserve.

He wanted to take more, but Juin felt that if he won against Wolfe, he might need more pills to be able to fight on par with Luca… especially since he might use Great Flame Body again. Unlike Saville, Luca might not be as easy to trick or see through.

And when he saw Wolfe sitting by himself earlier, a crazy idea suddenly came up in his mind. He approached Wolfe and asked if Wolfe would like to trade with him. It was cowardly, but this was the most brilliant tactic that he could think of.

In fact, Juin was prepared to trade a few of his Soul Rejuvenation Pills if Wolfe agreed to forfeit the match.

He thought that Wolfe would protest to it, and he was even ready to give up two of the pills if Wolfe showed any strong resistance to his proposal.

To his surprise, Wolfe agreed to it easily without so much as batting an eyelid. And all Juin had to do was to give him one of his Soul Rejuvenation Pills, and he only did it to make himself feel less guilty about asking Wolfe to give up the chance to fight for the position of the team leader.

Now that they were definitely in the First Team, whoever won the Elimination Battle would definitely be the leader of the First Team.

"Luca is too annoying," Wolfe said earlier as he took the pill from Juin through a handshake. "I don't have the energy to deal with him… Besides, I hate being a team leader. Too much responsibility. I much rather watch than participate in things. Good luck!"
