Wolfe growled and jumped up high.
"Sh*t!" Left with no choice, Juin threw the flaming balls at Wolfe.
To his surprise, instead of avoiding the flaming balls, Wolfe opened his mouth and swallowed the flaming balls.
"What…?" Juin and Luca were both shocked by what they had just seen.
Juin, especially, was so shocked that he was stunned by it and did not move fast enough before Wolfe landed on him.
"W-Wolfe…" Juin gasped when Wolfe raised his hand, where his nails had transformed into the sharpest claws there were...
To his surprise, instead of attacking or badly maiming him, Wolfe merely made a light scratch on the side of Juin's neck using his claw, drawing a drop of blood that stayed on the claw.
Wolfe suddenly looked up and jumped aside as a sharp wind blade went past where he was and landed on the floor, leaving a narrow yet deep dent in the marble floor.
"Leave him alone!" Luca warned as he glared at Wolfe.
In a position like a dog resting on its hind legs, Wolfe narrowed his coal-like eyes on Luca, but he did not say anything, nor did he make any moves. Instead, after a few seconds of staring contest, he brought his hand up to his face. And on one of the claws, a drop of blood was still there.
To Luca and Juin's disgust, he then licked the blood off his claw.
"I…" Juin was rendered speechless by the scene.
"Huh…" Luca suddenly pulled Juin back a few steps. "Did you feel it?"
"What?"
Looking at Wolfe, who had his eyes on Juin yet not moving an inch, Luca whispered, "His aura… Did you feel the sudden increase in his aura earlier?"
Juin shook his head.
"Useless!" Luca hissed. He then shook his head.
Suddenly, he grabbed Juin's hand and twisted it back, putting Juin in front of him.
"Argh! What are you doing?!" Juin snapped as he struggled to get away from Luca.
"Shut up!" Luca whispered in annoyance. "He seems to be attracted to you…"
"I don't swing that way!" Juin gasped.
"No one is saying that!" Luca snapped, wishing he had another arm so that he could hit Juin with it. "It's your blood! He seems to have gained some strength from that one drop of your blood. Stay still!"
"You! Why are you doing an experiment with my life?"
"Cause you created this mess, to begin with!" Luca snapped. He then looked at Wolfe and said, "Here, boy… He's here. Come and get it."
Hearing that, Wolfe slowly "walked" toward Juin and Luca. When he was in front of Juin, he took a quick sniff, and suddenly, it was like his personality took a beating and changed. He sat on the floor, like how a dog usually sat on its hind legs, and looked up at Juin.
"The heck…" Juin leaned back a little.
Wolfe was… smiling at him. It was both boyishly handsome, yet devilishly terrifying, especially given those elongated canines of his. And he seemed like he wanted something more.
Seeing that, Luca released Juin's hand and whispered, "Touch him."
"I'm not touching him!" Juin whispered back as he stared at Wolfe who was looking up at him with devotion.
"Just touch his head, you troublesome idiot!" Luca hissed as he pushed Juin a step forward.
"Why?" Juin quickly cupped his hands close to his abdomen.
"Can you stop asking so many questions?!" Luca said and took a step back.
"It's my hand, you a*s! Why don't you touch him?!" Juin snapped.
Juin gulped and he slowly reached out with his left hand. "There, Wolfy… Good, Wolfy… Don't bite my hand off, Wolfy…"
He patted Wolfe's head, slowly at first. When he realized that Wolfe's eyes were closed and that he was enjoying the head pat, his fear of losing a hand quickly faded away, and he patted him in a more sincere manner.
After a while, he heard Wolfe say, "Why are you patting my head?"
Juin removed his hand and looked at Wolfe, whose previous transformation was gone, and his appearance was like that of a normal teenager again. And when he saw Wolfe's questioning gaze, Juin quickly took a step back, bumping into Luca who was right behind him.
"Watch it!"
Juin ignored Luca's protest and looked at Wolfe. "What happened earlier?"
Wolfe stood up and gave him a curious glance. "What do you mean?"
"You were--"
"Don't you remember anything?" Luca interrupted Juin before he could say anything else.
Wolfe thought for a while before saying, "I was recuperating in my Soul Dimension… And when I woke up, Juin was patting my head."
He then looked at Juin and said, "While I enjoy head pats, I do prefer it to be done to me by a hot and s.e.xy older woman. Not a teenage boy who had just gone through puberty. And just so you know… you're not my type."
At this moment, Juin just wanted to dig a hole and bury himself within. He then glared at Luca and cursed at him inwardly.
Wolfe then looked at their surroundings and said, "Did you guys have a fight again? You know those books are priceless, right? Given the fact that this is the royal library."
"You did it," both Juin and Luca said at the same time.
Wolfe's jaw dropped, and feeling wronged, he muttered, "You guys sure know how to push the blame to an innocent person like me."
"Innocent, my foot…" Both Juin and Luca thought in their minds.
Sighing, Luca then said, "I will fix this place up."
Using a spell, he then quickly sent the fallen books back on the shelves. As for the papers that were torn from the books, he simply stuffed them back into random books and prayed that no one would notice it until they left Atlantis.
Meanwhile, Juin and Wolfe sat on the floor, watching Luca in action.
"Do you really not remember what happened earlier?" Juin asked. He then told Wolfe about his weird behavior earlier, as well as the partial transformation. "I thought you can't transform. Guess I was wrong."
"I… can't," Wolfe said uncertainly. "At least not to that extent."
He looked at his hands, where he transformed his nails into claws and back again, and said, "This is all that I can do."
"But you really transformed just now," Juin said. "And your eyes as well. They turned completely black."
Wolfe frowned. Suddenly, he recalled something. While he was recuperating, he kept hearing a voice telling him to "Wake up" over and over again. But thinking that it was Juin and Luca calling him, he did not think too much into this.
"Turned black, huh?" Wolfe thought for a while before saying, "It happened before, actually."
"Oh?" Juin sat up straight and looked at him. "So you can transform more?"
Wolfe shook his head. "It happened a long time ago. When I was a newborn. At least, according to my parents, it had only happened once."
Juin raised a brow.
Wolfe shrugged and stretched his body. "Anyway… I feel oddly refreshed at the moment. Like I had just been reborn."
