"Juin!"

Juin was in his Soul Dimension when he felt a disturbance from outside his body, and he quickly willed himself to wake up. The moment he opened his eyes, he saw Luca looking in Wolfe's direction with a worried expression.

"W-What's wrong?" Juin asked as he looked at Wolfe. Wolfe, who was previously in a sitting position, was now lying on his side on the floor, twitching, sweating, and growling uncontrollably in his sleep.

Juin quickly stood up and walked toward Wolfe with Luca.

"I don't know," Luca said with a frown as he shook his head. He put his hand out, then retrieved it, worried that he would cause more damage by forcefully pull Wolfe out of whatever he was experiencing. "Did he sustain any internal injury previously?"

Juin shrugged.

"I know the explosions did something to his hearing, but he reassured me that with his healing ability, it would get better soon… He didn't mention any other injuries," Juin said as he knelt on one knee in front of Wolfe. His hands hovered above Wolfe, and as he did so, his eyes widened slightly.

He could feel a strong heat being emanated from Wolfe's body.

"What in the world…" Juin gasped as he pulled his hands back to take a look at them. He then glanced up at Luca and asked, "Maybe he's trapped in a nightmare, like the ones you had before. Should we wake him up?"

"But he's not an Elementalist! The nightmares shouldn't affect him that badly to the point that it affects his physical self." Luca looked frustrated as he brushed his hair back with his fingers. "Argh, this is getting troublesome!"

He knelt on one knee, and using a gentle wind spell, he covered Wolfe to make him feel more comfortable before reaching out to touch him. When his hand almost reached Wolfe, Wolfe's eyes popped wide open, startling Luca so much that he fell back on his back.

Wolfe's eyes were completely black, with not a white to be seen, and when Luca stared into them, it felt as if he were being s.u.c.k.e.d into an abyss. At the same time, he felt as if something was deeply, deeply wrong… and guilt. A strong sense of guilt washed over him as memories of the past came back to haunt him, and his heart started to beat quickly.

"Mum… Dad…" Luca suddenly called out softly as he continued to stare into Wolfe's eyes. The memories of his parents, as well as the day they died, played continuously in his mind. The vision so vivid, it was almost as if he were back on his pirate-themed bed, and he swore he could feel the angry, uncontrollable wind from back then.

"Luca…" Juin was shocked by Luca's expression. The guy who always tried to find a reason to engage him in a fight was now looking… miserable and vulnerable. This was not the Luca he knew; the one that would bravely fight against him despite knowing that he had a powerful demon within him.

"ROARRRRR!!!" Wolfe suddenly roared out as veins that were darker than the darkest night appeared on the sides of his face.

The sound of the roar was nothing like one that could be made a human or even a wolf. It was… unnerving, and Juin subconsciously took a step back out of fear as he covered his ears with his hands. He had never seen Wolfe like this. The Wolfe that he knew was someone who was chill, aloof yet friendly, and who would surrender a battle just to have time to read his mangas.

"ROARRRRR!!!"

A louder roar, and this time, the roar knocked hundreds of books off the shelves, causing a loud commotion inside the library. The pages of some of the books, which were hundreds of years old, were torn out of the bindings and were floating in midair.

Everything seemed to be moving in a slow motion as Wolfe jumped up and crouched on the floor in all four as he stared at Luca.

He growled as he took a step toward Luca. A strong, sulphuric smell slowly permeated the air.

Seemingly in a trance, Luca seemed to be unaware of the danger that he was in at the moment. His eyes were opened, yet they were unfocused.

"Luca…" Juin whispered as he looked over at him worriedly. "Luca!"

Seeing no response, he then yelled at him, "Luca, wake up!"

However, Luca could not seem to hear him at all.

"What the hell is happening…" Juin's breath quickened as he looked between the two. His eyes then narrowed at Wolfe.

Wolfe was slowly moving toward Luca, and he seemed to be… transforming. Dark, black fur was slowly appearing on his arms and neck, and his canine teeth were elongating.

"Is he… transforming?" Juin thought. "But that's impossible!"

Yet the Wolfe in front of him now was not the normal Wolfe.

Not knowing what else to do, Juin then conjured up a flaming ball and threw it on the floor between those two.

Wolfe jumped back the moment the flaming ball hit the floor, while Luca's eyes returned to its previously clarity. The latter looked around before quickly standing up.

"What happened?" Luca asked as he slowly backed away from Wolfe.

"I don't even know how to begin!"

This time, Wolfe had his eyes on Juin. The sulfuric smell was getting stronger and stronger, to the point that both Juin and Luca felt somewhat suffocated by it.

Juin gulped, and he quickly called up two balls of flames as he stuttered, "D-Don't come clo-close! Wolfe, I-I don't want to hurt you!"

But Wolfe did not heed his warning. At the moment, Wolfe was no longer Wolfe. His coal-like eyes were trained on Juin; his canine tooth had fully elongated, making him look like an extremely terrifying human-animal hybrid, like the kinds of creatures that appeared in a fantasy novel.
