The Godly and Demonic Continents were the product of previously the world’s largest kingdom divided in two, using what used to be the Fei Kingdom’s mother river, also known as the Jingxiu River, as their borders. The regions south of the Jingxiu River was the Godly Continent, and northward was where the Demonic Continent stood. Although they were separated by a single river, the lives of the Feian survivors were vastly different.

Perhaps it was because Chang Hui used to be one of the Fei Kingdom’s city lords, while the Godly Continent abetted its citizens to have faith in the Shrine, the various customs and cultures had been preserved, with various academies and private tutors allowed to teach the ancient books and records handed down by the Fei Kingdom. With that, they managed to ensure a trace of a lifeblood for the Fei Kingdom.

Yet, the current rulers of the five continents were not the first batch of Celestials to come to this world. In the past, there had been Celestials who appeared within the borders of the Fei Kingdom, and apart from those like Chang Hui who were used to concealing their identity, most of them had fallen into the hands of the imperial court, either crippled in their research or reduced to the imperial household’s property. Once, the Fei Kingdom gained plenty of benefits from these Celestials, and after having had their first taste, went on a nationwide search for new Celestials. It was until they kicked onto the iron plate that was Ye Junhou that their entire dynasty perished, reduced to these current circumstances.

If you looked at it from a novel’s standpoint, it was nothing more than a face-slapping story plot of the imperial court incurring the wrath of the protagonist, but to the citizens of the Demonic Continent, this was not a life that could be mentioned briefly in passing.

Ye Junhou would seek vengeance for the slightest grievance, and none who offended him would receive a happy ending – he never forgot how the Feian Army had hunted him down, so the Feians were the the most inferior slaves in the Demonic Continent, its civilians and nobility forbidden to marry the Feians, and there would be no way out for anyone who associated with the Feians.

What used to be the Feian nobility were now being kept as livestock, free to be tossed to the dogs whenever they were played to death by their masters. The Feians’ lives were as insignificant as dirt, with no one to take a second glance if they died on the side of the road.

At present, as the three of them walked past the streets of the Dark Capital, they could still see the emaciated-looking slaves curling up within various corners, seemingly using the slightest interval to catch their breath, before they were quickly whipped by the overseers and forced to stand up, hurriedly rushing back into their hard labor amid the angry yells.

The Demonic Continent’s slaves were captives of vanquished nations, and amongst them, powerful prisoners of war and beautiful female captives were the easiest to be pardoned. Most of those who were reduced to this were the plain folk of various countries, especially the Fei Kingdom, which had participated in the most wars.

Right before their eyes, the retainers of a wealthy and influential family casually tossed the corpse of a woman into an alley, an action that seemed completely fine to the people by the roadside. The vendors’ cries were unaffected, the streets still looking as prosperous as a capital city should, yet only the ragged slaves in the shadows cleared the corpse away with numb expressions, as if they had long forgotten the emotions belonging to a human.

As he took in all of this, Qing Ye gripped his fist, his voice turning overcast, “Morning Star Priest, will our people become like this, if the Godly Continent loses?”

This was the reason why Su Ge had left their entourage behind on the ark. The Demonic Continent truly wasn’t a good place for the people of the Godly Continent, and at a closer look, the more he felt that these two types of people couldn’t possibly coexist peacefully. The word forgiveness did not exist in Ye Junhou’s dictionary, and after being oppressed for so many years, the hatred the Feians had for the Demonic Continent wasn’t something that could be mollified by sole manpower…

Ji Mo had no idea what Su Ge was planning to do, and looking at how emotionally stirred up the boy was at present, could only sigh softly, “This can only be decided by the High Priest. What you can do right now is to strive hard in your cultivation, and become much stronger than Ye Junjou. Only then will you have the ability to change the world he established.”

Qing Ye believed the words of a White Robed Priest without a shadow of doubt, and as if he had found hope in his words, he immediately replied firmly, “I’ll make great effort!”

In the face of the protagonist, what was the use of a supporting character’s effort?

Although he wasn’t holding out much hope for him, Ji Mo did not reveal the harsh reality of it. When all was said and done, ambition was not a bad thing, and humans needed a direction in order to continue forward. Unlike him, who had no expectations for the future apart from surviving, disregarding everything else.

Regardless of that, power struggles were always something headache-inducing, and Ji Mo had already decided to return with Ye Mingjun to his previous world, so he had no intention of interfering in the five continents’ disputes. He would only let Su Ge do whatever he wanted and try his best to fulfill Su Ge’s wishes in repayment of his past kindness.

As he thought that, he realized that Ye Mingjun’s expression was very dull, clearly unable to find any sort of joy in shopping through the streets. The thought of coaxing the immortal flashed across his mind, and so he said softly, “Xianjun, is there anything you want to buy?”

As expected, Ye Mingjun was easy to coax, and immediately brightened upon hearing his words, looking eagerly at him, “You’re giving me a present?”

No, there’s no need to look so happy, that look makes me feel like I’m about to turn into a slag man…

His breath caught in his throat by the immortal’s overwhelming enthusiasm, Ji Mo hurriedly turned away to stabilize his heart, then replied with forced calm, “As the Shrine’s guest, we will do our best to meet all your demands.”

Hearing this, Ye Mingjun immediately gained a new idea. Earlier, he had noticed that the both of them looked downhearted, so he hadn’t disturbed them. However, during one of his nighttime walks, he had spotted a brightly lit street. The people passing through it had looked incredibly happy, and even those who looked dispirited would become excited as long as they entered one of the shops. If they went there, Ji Mo might cheer up a little.

With that thought in mind, he pointed at the street in his memories and smiled at the two of them, “Let’s go to that street.”

Glancing at where he was pointing to, Ji Mo saw fancy lanterns hung in the air, and while there was rarely anyone in the morning, that striking signboards of various brothels publicly declared the essence of this red-light district.

Looking silently at this mystical place, Ji Mo realized that he had underestimated Ye Mingjun. How could he have ever thought that someone would actually invite their capture target to a brothel in the early hours of the morning?

I accompanied you here to shop, but you’re telling me to bring you to a joyhouse? Let me tell you, you’ll easily get blacklisted by your capture target like this!

Although he was unexpectedly repulsed by the idea on the inside, he had already promised to meet his demands beforehand. Ji Mo could only clench his teeth and say, “Okay.”

“I just knew that you’d like this place.”

Hearing Ji Mo’s reply, Ye Mingjun was completely oblivious to the dangerous aura surrounding the person beside him, pulling him forward as he sighed inwardly,

Looks like the passersby hadn’t lied to him, men really loved these kinds of places. Ji Mo looked so much more energetic compared to before when he heard about going there, practically a living embodiment of raging flames, so lively that he looked ready to pick a fight with someone.

A certain immortal had yet to realize that the person the Morning Star Priest was about to pick a fight with was himself. It was Qing Ye, who felt something was not right about the situation, and asked feebly, “Morning Star Priest, should we really go to such a place…”

Now that he thought about it, Ji Mo understood that Ye Mingjun must have gone out at night instead of remaining obediently in his room, coming to the conclusion that the immortal must have gone to the red-light district at night. Following that, countless associations of ideas brought some slightly unpleasant feelings in him, and he replied coldly after hearing these words, “We may as well go there. After all, there won’t be any businesses open at this time of day.”

Yet, the hidden sarcasm in his words completely flew over the heads of both of them, and Qing Ye praised admiringly, “The Morning Star Priest really knows a lot!”

He would tentatively regard that as a compliment.

His mouth twitching, he realized that this was a topic unsuitable for a clean and honest teenager, and so Ji Mo changed the subject to Ye Mingjun, whose innocent label had just been plucked off by him. He said coolly, “Xianjun, are you acquainted with any of the shops here?”

Ye Mingjun could sense something odd about his tone, and looked innocently at him, immediately concluding that not only did he have his thorns out, his fur was puffing up as well. Although he didn’t understand what had happened, he tried to probe out, “I’ve never gone into one of those shops, where do you want to go?”

If you don’t go in, why did you come to the red-light district? To watch and learn?

Frowning as he scrutinized the expression that did not seem to be lying, Ji Mo suddenly recalled the increasingly indecent behavior this person had been displaying of late. Oh god, he was really emulating the behavior of others, everything Ye Mingjun had learned from the red-light district had been used on him!

Thinking this, Ji Mo’s face blackened even more. Yet at that moment, a person happened to walk out of one of the brothels. He was dressed lavishly and looked like a wealthy person, but reeked of alcohol and staggered as he walked, clearly about to return home after a night of fooling around. Ji Mo couldn’t be bothered to notice a drunkard, but that person spotted him and blearily waved him over, “Why is this cutie wearing a mask? Quick, take it off and let this master have a taste.”

Never expecting to actually encounter such an unforeseen event, Ji Mo felt that his sexual orientation had become increasingly strange after meeting Ye Mingjun. That person was treating him like some sort of new plaything, putting him in an extremely bad mood. And so he did not intend on preserving his usual politeness, saying coldly, “That scumbag over there, please get lost.”

“What a fiery temper, this master likes your type!”

A drunkard wouldn’t be called a drunkard if he knew how to behave in a delicate situation, getting excited after hearing his words, looking as if he was about to pounce. It startled Qing Ye so much that he grabbed at him, giving him a strict warning, “You cannot approach the Morning Star Priest!”

“This master is the Royal Uncle, there is no one I can’t approach within the Dark Capital!”

Seeing that this person actually had some cultivation to throw Qing Ye off, Ye Mingjun realized with a start that something unexpected had arrived without him doing something to set it off; hurriedly reaching out, he caught hold of Ji Mo’s waist.

Yet, before he could do anything else, a sudden clap of thunder rang out, and the Royal Uncle who had initially come at Ji Mo like a crushing force had crumbled to the ground, scorched black as steam wafted off him. At this moment, Qing Ye, who had experienced just how fierce and cruel Ji Mo would become when he was on his guard, sighed, “See, I warned you.”

Casually flinging the used scroll onto the ground, Ji Mo couldn’t be bothered to care about that Royal Uncle, merely lowering his head to glance at the hand placed on his waist, his tone quite unfriendly, “What, does Xianjun want to have a taste of me too?”

Strange, why did he had this sort of reaction today? He hadn’t done anything at all…

Realizing that something unexpected had occurred with some amazement, this caused Ye Mingjun to become a little more cautious, asking, “What does ‘have a taste’ mean?”

Ye Mingjun had always self-assured in his actions and never concealed anything from him. Seeing him like this, Ji Mo became puzzled, “You don’t know? Then what did you come here for?”

“While I like humans, I don’t like being touched casually by them. Whenever they come close to me, I’d fly away.”

The immortal didn’t seem to be lying from the expression he bore, but using that to determine the truth of his words seemed to be a little unreliable considering this was a person who held considerable interest towards humans, “Really?”

“I’m an ancient artifact, even the immortals have to receive approval before touching me.”

Once more reiterating just how valuable he was, Ye Mingjun abruptly understood something, and asked curiously, “You’re angry that I was touched by someone else, because I’m yours?”

Impossible, I was just—

Wait, why did he feel so unhappy about Ye Mingjun coming to the red-light district? Hadn’t he known from the start that the immortal’s interest in him came purely from the curiosity of being rejected? Just look, he wasn’t even resisting right now, he wasn’t even reacting much to the fact that Ye Mingjun had his hand around his waist. Their relationship wasn’t that deep, so why was he unable to place himself anymore…

Finally regaining some of his suppressed rationality, Ji Mo calmed down, his tone back to its usual indifference, “Xianjun, the present Demonic Continent is being threatened by a growing crisis, it is unadvised to move around at night with your cultivation being sealed as it is.”

The thorns were gone? As expected, tactfully putting his hands down was the right choice. So he was angry about him going out at night? Ji Mo must want to sleep with him, he just knew that no one would resist the thought of hugging Emperor Xi’s Venus Pearl to sleep.

Suddenly enlightened with the cause of this unforeseen circumstance, Ye Mingjun then rubbed the head of the person next to him, smiling sincerely, “Okay, I won’t go out tonight, I’ll accompany you.”

Wait a minute, why did the conversation lead to this? Wasn’t there something wrong with that?

Ji Mo realized something incredibly off about his words, but before he could say something, the brothel’s madam, who had been silently observing this group of people ever since the sound of thunder appeared finally couldn’t look on any more.

She had been standing here for ages, but this pair of cutsleeves hadn’t spared her a glance, just hugging each other. If this went on until they rolled into the same bed, would she even receive an explanation? With that thought in mind, she said with a lamenting sigh,

“I say, if you’re here to get revenge or catch someone in the act, at least leave a name. Turning the Royal Uncle into this state, how is our brothel supposed to run business?”

As her coquettish-sounding words rang out, goosebumps traveled all over Ji Mo’s skin, and he replied apathetically, “We’re just shopping.”

“Ah?”

Hearing this, the madam instantly froze, would someone come to a brothel to shop at such an early hour? Was she still asleep?

“Qing Ye, search for his token, we’ll send a letter of complaint along with it to the Demon Lord. Taking liberties with a White Robed Priest, let the Demonic Continent handle this themselves.”

Ji Mo was uninterested in discussing the correct way of entering a brothel with its madam, and after instructing Qing Ye on how to resolve the follow-up matters, he looked at Ye Mingjun, “Xianjun, let’s go, I’ll keep you company for the rest of the day.”

Heh, did he really not know just how naughty Ye Mingjun would get? As long as he had enough fun during the day, he would naturally lose the interest to continue messing around at night. What ‘I’ll accompany you’, if he would believe such a spontaneous remark, his sleeves would have long been cut.

“Okay, I know a really interesting place.”

Ye Mingjun naturally wouldn’t refuse an offer to stroll about together, but he felt bewildered when he looked at Ji Mo, who seemed quite different than he was yesterday,

Weird, he’d retracted his thorns, so why was his fur still puffed up? How was he supposed to coax him, would he soften up if he gave him a hug?

“Please lead the way.”

Ji Mo was unable to read his dangerous ideas for the time being, merely leading the immortal away, poker-faced, as he thought fiercely,

Continue, continue acting up, I’ll let you play to your heart’s content today, try causing more trouble if you dare!

They quickly vanished into the distance as they talked, Qing Ye hastening to catch up with them with his sword in hand. Dumbfounded by this strange sight, the madam subconsciously rubbed her eyes from where she stood in a nightdress, her tone filled with disbelief,

“Never have I seen someone go out of his way to come to a brothel only to quarrel with his lover. It’d be fine if they just quarrelled, they couldn’t even be bothered to look at anyone else just moments later. Say, what did they come here for?”

Her question was something that couldn’t be answered by courtesans, and another woman who had just awoken answered helplessly, “I don’t understand the world of cutsleeves either.”

The two night workers who had been interrupted from their sleep exchanged glances of speechless despair, unable to understand what these cutsleeves were playing at. At last, the madam could only call a male servant over, finally attending to the much-neglected Royal Uncle, who had been stomped on a couple times by Ji Mo, “Forget about it, just send the Royal Uncle back to his home, he might catch a cold.”
