Betrothal Day was a festival celebrated only by the Demonic Continent, and as a series of firecrackers burst through the spring morning, each household had adorned their doors and windows with fresh flowers. Exquisite paper umbrellas were hung above every street corner, graceful butterflies brushing over the various pinwheels in the streets and alleyways, chased by the wind – such a sight inadvertently stirred the hearts of boys and girls alike. To the Demonic Continent which was usually filled with violence, it was as if all the warmth and compassion had focused onto this very day.

Today was also the only day the slaves were granted amnesty by Ye Junhou to rest, and you could no longer spot any scraggly figures on the streets, the oppressive atmosphere replaced by the people’s liveliness. While he was aware that the ugly side had merely been hidden away, Ji Mo was in a slightly lighter mood as he walked through the streets. Taking the pinwheel Ye Mingjun handed to him, he gave him a soft smile.

Dazzled by this natural, slight smile, and recalling the melancholic aura that usually enveloped this person on a normal day, Ye Mingjun came to a faint realization,

So the reason why Ji Mo found it hard to feel happy was that the world in his eyes was not perfect, or rather, he hadn’t fully accepted the circumstances no matter what he said. Deep inside, he still couldn’t help but attribute the tragic events caused by the Celestials to their creators.

Ye Mingjun was a carefree person, but he also knew his priorities. Since Ji Mo cared so much about the Demonic Continent, he did not stall on the way there, quickly leading him to the place he had followed Su Ge to last night.

When the Cheng Family’s plaque entered his vision, there was finally some astonishment to be found in Ji Mo’s tranquil expression. He couldn’t help but ask, “Xianjun, are you sure the High Priest came here?”

Never expecting that his capabilities would be doubted, Ye Mingjun immediately said with certainty, “I was following him all the way here, is there a problem with this place?”

This wasn’t just a problem. If Su Ge had truly come here, the problem was big.

Ji Mo had done an investigation on all the bigwigs in the Dark Capital for the past couple of days, and the Cheng Estate was where the Empress’ only brother, Cheng Zhang, lived. Yes, this was the Royal Uncle who he’d turned into coke back at the red-light district.

The Demon Empress was Ye Junhou’s first wife whom he had married before achieving greatness. He had been in the Fei Kingdom at the time, and this pair of Cheng siblings were naturally Feians. Apparently, while the Fei Kingdom had been on the hunt for Celestials all those years ago, the Demon Empress had suffered greatly for protecting Ye Junhou, who had yet to awaken his bloodline. Thus, while Ye Junhou loathed the Fei Kingdom, he treated his wife very well, even giving his brother-in-law the treatment of a Royal Uncle despite his fondness of catting around.

The Demon Empress had lost her parents at a very young age, leaving her with one relative left. She cared about him very much, rushing out of the palace to look after him herself upon hearing the news of her brother’s injuries, and had even been staying at the Cheng Estate for the past few days.

Recalling Cheng Zhang’s qualities, Ji Mo didn’t think that Su Ge would choose to cooperate with this kind of person. Then, the one he had taken Qing Ye to visit must be the Demon Empress.

Qing Ye, the Demon Empress, Ye Junhou…

Silently contemplating the possible connection between those three, QJi Mo suddenly remembered that Qing Ye and Ye Po were about the same age. He asked Ye Mingjun a little distractedly, “Xianjun, are there any similarities between Ye Po and Qing Ye?”

“It’s still a little hard to distinguish them with my current cultivation, but they both smell like a mixture of Celestial and mortal.”

Ye Mingjun replied honestly, and Ji Mo’s expression grew even graver. It had been many years since the Celestials’ arrival, and many had chosen to settle down in this world and create a family after forgetting their respective female leads, which was why he hadn’t considered this possibility.

Plenty of cheats were given through one’s genetics, and most descendants of ordinary Celestials could not match up against Ye Junhou. Then, what about Ye Junhou’s son?

Ye Junhou was characterized as a Heavenly Demon from the Desolate Chasm, and only one Heavenly Demon would emerge to inherit the bloodline for each generation. At present, Ji Mo was unable to confirm the relation between Qing Ye and Ye Po, but looking at Su Ge’s actions, there was a high chance that one who awakened his bloodline was Qing Ye.

Regardless, he needed to probe further, and it so happened that he had a perfectly justifiable excuse to investigate.

Although he was startled by his findings, Ji Mo quickly calmed down, saying indifferently to Ye MIngjun, “Xianjun, this Royal Uncle took liberties with me in the past. With our current relationship, you should be very angry about it.”

As he said that, Ye Mingjun was also reminded of the fact that this was something that usually occurred in films, and gained a sudden interest in the plot of avenging the beauty, “So, should I give him a lesson?”

So you’re utterly unmoved by the fact that someone took liberties with me? You’ll easily see your head growing a patch of green grass like this, I tell you!

Completely dismissing just how ferocious he’d acted when someone had made a pass at him and hadn’t even given Ye Mingjun the chance to play the hero, Ji Mo looked discontentedly at a certain immortal, conveniently venting out his bad mood at the chief culprit, “Xianjun, you don’t need to be too gentle when teaching others a lesson.”

Ye Mingjun had always treated others gently, simply giving them a smile even if they were being disrespectful, never really harming anyone in the few times he’d struck out. Hearing this, he merely blinked with some hesitance, and at last, walked into the Royal Uncle’s estate as he was told. Seeing the guard instantly close in on him, he smiled lightly, “Sorry, I’ll have to teach you a not very gentle lesson.”

The guards thought they had misheard; they were the elite palace guards tasked in protecting the Demon Empress, yet this guy was trying to teach them a lesson while being surrounded by the Demonic Palace’s strongest military troops? Just too absurd.

Nevertheless, Ye Mingjun quickly proved that he never needed to use a low-end method such as bragging to pull a bluff. As Heaven’s most ancient artifact, he had nothing to fear even with 5% of his power.

From what Ye Mingjun could recall, the protagonist would always kick the door open whenever he dropped in for revenge. Yet, the entrance to the Royal Uncle’s residence was wide open. Slightly distressed, he gave it some thought, and instantly had an idea. Lightly lifting a finger, and another swift flick, the stone floors and front gate were dug out and floated up as if guided by a mysterious power, crashing into the estate’s compound.

As the broken tiles flew around, the unprepared guards dropped to the floor like a plate of dumplings. Ye Mingjun had accomplished his fundamental goal of breaking in through the front door with just a flick of his finger, and after glancing at the dumbstruck servants and guards, realized that this wasn’t going according to what he had seen in the movies. Why wasn’t anybody running or shouting after he broke through the front door? Did he not crash in the right way?

Ye Mingjun always did his missions with utter seriousness, and said gravely to Ji Mo, “Is this a little too gentle? Should I restore the doors and break them one more time?”

Wait, you’ve already swept through the entire foreyard and wrecked the main courtyard, but you’re telling me this is just the start? This is your ‘not very gentle’ approach? What would you look like when you’re actually trying to destroy something, instantly piercing through the heavens?

As he saw this happen before his eyes, Ji Mo was suddenly aware of the fact that he might have some sort of misconception about Ye Mingjun’s destructive power. To avoid the Shrine being accidentally sent to the skies one day in the future, he still said with a twitch of his lips. “Xianjun, I think this is enough, you should continue being gentle for the foreseeable future.”

Mm, looks like he had a long way to go before being skilled in making use of Ye Mingjun. At any rate, he had to learn to make his instructions clear for the other to understand more than anything else.

“Which bastard dares to trespass the Royal Uncle’s property, do you wanna die?”

Such a ruckus had alarmed the estate’s master, and a large troop of guards quickly filled all corners of the compound. Having been a victim of a crime not too long ago, Cheng Zhang walked out of his room spewing curses. With how lively he seemed to be, it appeared that the Demon Empress had indeed brought plenty of medicine for her brother.

While Cheng Zhang had some cultivation, most of it had piled up from the pills given by the Demon Empress. It was already hard enough to preserve his youthful appearance, but with how impractical his gait was, he probably wouldn’t be able to win against the most common guard if they exchanged blows.

This person just looked like a dandy who overindulged in women, and while he was dressed in rich fabric, he didn’t look very noble – there weren’t any special qualities to be found on him. Ji Mo did not say anything, merely letting Ye Mingjun deal with it.

“You took liberties with my friend, so I came here to get revenge.”

Ye Mingjun did not let him down, stating his business here in all seriousness. With that, he suddenly realized that having such a justifiable reason to be associated with Ji Mo wasn’t a bad feeling at all. Gaining a much stronger interest, he asked the Royal Uncle eagerly, “So, how should I teach you a lesson?”

This person was asking him how to teach him a lesson? Who would dare say that he was the biggest hoodlum in the entire Dark Capital? He wasn’t this conceited no matter how unreasonable he was!

Looking carefully at this immortal who was actually patiently waiting for his answer, Cheng Zhang couldn’t tell if this guy was being serious. With a sweep of his gaze, he saw Ji Mo standing behind Ye Mingjun with an indifferent look on his face. He knew that silver mask.

When he had spotted this kid with little to no cultivation a few days ago, he had thought that this was quite a rare beauty, boldly stepping up to flirt a little with him. Never had he expected him to be the mysterious Morning Star Priest, blasting him with a high-level divine spell with just a lift of his hand. It had caused him to lie in bed for many days following that, almost ruining an important affair of his!

Cheng Zhang did not know why the Shrine would dispatch people over at this time of day, nor could he read anything from Ji Mo’s expression, so he could only splutter angrily, “You again! Actually daring to come up before this master can get even with you, you— boy toy!”

“If you continue calling him names, I’ll be very unhappy.”

The moment those words left his mouth, the smile on Ye Mingjun’s face gradually vanished, furrowing his eyebrows slightly. Bullying the little guy he was very fond of in front of him, was this person trying to rile him up? This wasn’t something that could be easily solved by gently playing with him.

As if sensing the dangerous aura wafting off the immortal, just as Ye Mingjun’s smile was about to disappear completely, the gentle and demure voice of a woman travelled across the courtyard, “What business does the Shrine’s Morning Star Priest have with my brother?”

Hearing this, Ji Mo, who had been all for letting Ye Mingjun have his fun, slowly lifted his head. As he had expected, the Demon Empress was here. There was something wrong with this Cheng Estate.

This time, it appeared, Ye Junhou’s harem would be the one to catch fire.
