 28 Global Great Evolution

The three of them walked over a hundred meters away. The middle-aged man finally confirmed that they were coming for him. He turned around, glanced at them, and patted his dog. The Border Collie turned its head and stared at them, one human and one dog, warning them with their eyes to leave.

Continuously advancing without retreating, Cheng Tianbi walked directly to their side and said, "We need your dog's help to find prey. If we catch something, we'll take three pounds of meat and give you the rest."

The man sneered. In front of a giant border collie measuring five or six meters in height, humans seemed so small and fragile. After entering the post-apocalyptic world, he had never gone hungry a day, relying entirely on his family's precious dog. He didn't believe that any human could threaten him, not even mutated humans. No one had ever provoked them, so he didn't pay any attention to Cheng Tianbi.

"You're a mutated human, right? Don't think you're so powerful just because you're mutated. Can you defeat a five or six-meter tall border collie? Even if we catch any prey, it wouldn't be enough for my precious dog to eat. How could we share it with you? If you have any sense, you'd better leave now."

Cheng Tianbi said calmly, "I don't need to defeat it. I'm only three meters away from you right now. I have many ways to kill you before this sentence ends. Would you like to try?"

The man instinctively took a step back.

Cheng Tianbi's deep and sharp eyes were like an unfathomable pool, cold and impenetrable. The predatory aggression in his eyes made the man's spine shiver. Despite the young man appearing to be in his early twenties, his tall stature and imposing demeanor made the man involuntarily believe that his words were true.

But he still hesitated. Even if he had a pet, it wasn't easy to find prey in the wild. Small animals would run away upon seeing them, and powerful ones might harm his precious dog. Who would be willing to give their most precious food to someone else? Unable to help himself, he took another step back, trying to seek safety behind the Border Collie, seeking a sense of security.

But at that moment, he felt something sharp pressing against his back. He widened his eyes and turned to look, but there was nothing behind him. Yet, the feeling of that sharp point against him was undeniably real.

Cheng Tianbi said, "If you take one more step back, it will pierce your heart."

The man looked at Cheng Tianbi in horror and said, "P-Put it away, I agree."

Cong Xia walked to Cheng Tianbi's side and looked up at the huge Border Collie, feeling envious.

"This dog is so handsome. Big brother, can I pet it?"

The man reluctantly nodded.

Cong Xia walked over and touched the Border Collie's thick fur. The big dog glanced at him but didn't react much.

It was truly amazing how the power of non-attributable energy can drastically transform the size of species. In less than a month, a dog's size increased more than tenfold. If we follow Darwin's theory of evolution, this kind of evolution may not even be achieved in billions of years.

This world was full of miracles.

The five of them, along with the dog, ventured deeper into the forest.

With the increased size, the Border Collie's sense of smell also became stronger. It sniffed along the way and finally discovered a chicken the size of a small truck after almost two hours of walking.

The chicken sensed the approaching danger from a distance and started to run. The Border Collie leaped and quickly caught up.

Its massive size caused each of its footsteps to create tremors on the ground. In an instant, the Border Collie leaped over ten meters and swiftly pounced on the frightened chicken. In a matter of seconds, it covered a distance of over a hundred meters and pinned the chicken down, biting its neck.

Although the hunting scene was completely one-sided, it still left Cong Xia and the others in awe. The size of these two animals far surpassed their understanding. Even from a visual perspective alone, it was quite impactful.

At that moment, they realized how naive it was to think they could hunt on their own. Even with the Border Collie's help, it took them over two hours to find one prey. If they ventured into the forest alone, it would likely take them a whole day without any results.

The group rushed over, especially the girl who must have been craving meat for a long time. Seeing the chicken, she seemed to be eager to devour it raw.

The chicken struggled for a few moments and then ceased to breathe.

The group drew their knives and started cutting the chicken meat with urgency.

It had been a long time since they had eaten the usual human food. Even the owner of the Border Collie had been surviving on rats in the city.

Cheng Tianbi tried to remove a chicken leg without hesitation, but it was thicker than his waist, and his knife was too short. He intended to use his wind ability to cut it, but he noticed that the man was watching him intently.

Cheng Tianbi gave up on the idea. He didn't want to give this man too many opportunities to guess what type of mutant he was.

Cong Xia also noticed this and said, "Big brother, could you let the dog help us remove the chicken leg? We'll take just this piece."

The man looked at Cheng Tianbi skeptically, then said a few words to his dog. The Border Collie, extremely intelligent, held the chicken's body with one paw and bit the leg, pulling it forcefully. The chicken leg was torn off and tossed in front of the three individuals.

They quickly stepped back, but they still got splattered with chicken blood and dog saliva on their pants.

Cheng Tianbi lifted the heavy chicken leg and said, "Let's go."

Liu Fengyu squinted and smiled at the man and the girl, then turned and walked away. Cong Xia kept saying, "Thank you, thank you, big brother."

Their actions were akin to robbery, so Cong Xia felt a bit embarrassed. However, their moral compass had been eroded by hunger, leaving little room for consideration. Right now, all they could think about was meat.

The three of them returned to a riverbank they had passed by earlier and built a fire pit with dry firewood. They lit a fire.

Liu Fengyu kicked the thick chicken feathers and asked, "What should we do with these feathers?"

"Pluck them," sighed Cong Xia. "The proper method would be to put them in hot water and then pluck them, otherwise, it'll be troublesome. But we don't have a container big enough to hold it, only two bowls."

"Forget about all the fuss, let's just roast and eat it," Cheng Tianbi said, returning with a few tree branches he had cut, planning to make a makeshift barbecue rack using ropes.

Liu Fengyu said disappointedly, "It's rare to have chicken meat, and we can't even have a decent meal."

Cong Xia chuckled bitterly, "Having salt would be good enough. The two of us once ate tasteless roasted bugs for several days in the underground sewage pipe."

Liu Fengyu made a disgusted expression and sat down on the ground, waiting for the ready-made meat.

Cheng Tianbi and Cong Xia set up the rack and placed the thick chicken leg on top.

Cong Xia tried to pluck the feathers with his hands, but they were very stubborn. He had to exert a lot of force to pluck just one, and it sprayed blood on his face. Cong Xia felt frustrated, so he resorted to using his military knife to cut the feathers as short as possible, making it less uncomfortable when eaten.

Although the conditions were crude, Cong Xia did his best to remove all the feathers. Then he made an incision on the meat with his knife, sprinkled some salt, and diligently roasted it.

This ingredient was hard to come by, and Cong Xia stared at the slowly charring meat, his mouth watering.

After roasting for about half an hour, all three of them couldn't bear their hunger any longer. Liu Fengyu was the first to lose patience. "It should be cooked now, let's eat."

"No, the meat is too thick, it needs to be thoroughly cooked. Bacterial growth is rampant, and it would be troublesome if we get sick from eating raw meat."

"Then let's eat the surface first, and continue roasting as we eat." Liu Fengyu took the military knife and cut a piece of meat. However, Cheng Tianbi, who had been sitting quietly, suddenly jumped up and snatched the meat from Liu Fengyu's hand.

Liu Fengyu angrily asked, "What are you doing?"

"What did you do?"

"Ah?"

Cheng Tianbi coldly said, "What did you do for this food?"

Liu Fengyu was momentarily speechless.

Cheng Tianbi tossed the hot piece of meat to Cong Xia and said, "You eat first." Then he turned to Liu Fengyu and said, "You didn't contribute, so you can only eat after we're full."

Liu Fengyu glared angrily at Cheng Tianbi but couldn't argue back. He had witnessed Cheng Tianbi's strength and heard rumors about the formidable abilities of natural force evolvers. Unless absolutely necessary, he didn't want to provoke him. Besides, Cheng Tianbi was right; he hadn't done anything. Sulking, Liu Fengyu sat aside and refused to look at them.

Cong Xia helplessly looked at the two of them. He took out a bowl from his backpack and, like slicing Turkish kebab, shaved off the cooked part of the chicken meat. He then handed a bowl full of meat to Cheng Tianbi and said, "Tianbi, you go first."

Cheng Tianbi took it and, whether intentionally or not, sat down next to Liu Fengyu. He ate heartily, without even looking up.

Cong Xia looked at Liu Fengyu, who looked defeated, and felt a bit guilty. But he didn't dare go against Cheng Tianbi. He shaved off some meat for himself and ate hungrily.

It was so delicious—the tender meat, the rich aroma, the mouthful of oil with each bite. It instantly filled Cong Xia's bland stomach, and he was almost moved to tears.

Cheng Tianbi didn't even bother to lift his head while eating. In just a few bites, he finished the entire bowl of meat.

Cong Xia quickly took out a bottle of mineral water from his backpack and handed it to him. "Take it slow, don't choke."

Liu Fengyu sneered disdainfully. "Xia, why are you acting like his wife?"

Cong Xia was slightly taken aback and stammered, "Wha-what are you talking about?"

"Huh, don't tell me you don't see it? You're practically hand-feeding him," Liu Fengyu said mockingly.

Cheng Tianbi glared at him. "Shut up."

Liu Fengyu rolled his eyes. "You should shut up. Just eat."

Cong Xia reassured him, "Liu Ge, don't worry. This chicken leg is so big that even if we eat until we're stuffed, we won't be able to finish..."

Cheng Tianbi handed the bowl to Cong Xia. "Go get some more."

Liu Fengyu raised an eyebrow and looked teasingly at Cong Xia.

Cong Xia awkwardly turned his face away and grabbed the bowl to shave more chicken meat for Cheng Tianbi.

Liu Fengyu chuckled silently, and Cong Xia didn't dare to look back. He felt like his face was getting roasted.
