Chapter 18: Mia Chung
Ethan grabbed a bottle of pills from the bedside drawer. Hurriedly swallowed the pill and drank water, after stabilizing his emotions and breathing steadily Ethan got out of the bed.
He pushed open the bathroom's door and went inside, splashing cool water on his face. His bare torso drenched with sweat grabbing the towel he started wiping his face lazily. His hair wet and sticky, stuck to his forehead.
He stared at the mirror, his gaze intense landing on his left shoulder blade, an ugly looking scar.
It was a gunshot wound, he gently touched the scar with his trembling fingers.
Initially it was a touch, but soon it looked like he was going to scratch his skin, rubbing intensely as if trying to erase it from his body.
Frustrated, he pushed the toiletries off from the glass shelf in front of the large mirror.
Shattering of glasses, the sound piercing through his heart making it bleed. After what seemed like an eternity, Ethan walked out, changed out of his clothes and left his room.
Ethan drove his car on a familiar path, near the school gates glancing at the streetlights Ethan took out a cigarette from his car and started smoking.
Mia Chung, the girl who loved him to death. The girl who was his first girl friend, the girl who was his best friend's sister, the girl who was his first girlfriend, the girl who was his first kiss, the girl who was his first love.
Ethan remembered clearly the day when he saw Mia clinging onto her brother's shoulder and pouting like a baby.
That was the first time he felt indescribable feeling in his chest, he was jealous, jealous of his friend because of this stupid girl.
He felt stupid and ashamed, he didn't have any right to feel that way, his friend was Mia's brother.
Mia loved him, Ethan also loved Mia. But alas, he couldn't confess his feelings to her. He was conflicted as she was his friends sister, and he knew Lucifer's temper.
Mia was very expressive and openly flaunted her feelings for Ethan, making his heart flutter. Though Mia was not a very bold girl, her cute ways of wanting attention and caring attitude towards Ethan made him fall for her.
Everyone in their families were aware of Mia's feelings, but nobody knew about Ethan, what he wanted. Making everyone feel bad for Mia, including Lucifer.
Lucifer loved his sister and could do anything for her, even though Ethan was his friend Lucifer wanted him to stay away from Mia because he didn't want his sister to get hurt.
Lucifer thought Ethan was being nice to Mia out of pity, or maybe because she was his sister.
So when Ethan accepted Mia's love and they started dating, everyone were perplexed.
Lucifer was shocked beyond words, he was even angry at his friend and went to punch him. But seeing his sister happy he decided to let go and protect her happiness.
"Ethan, brother really outdid himself today! Look at your face, I'm so not happy with his behavior! humph", Mia caressed Ethan's cheek and said indignantly.
She was upset at her brother's behavior, how could he punch Ethan, that too when they were out on a date!
"Mia, Don't worry it'll get fine, The swelling will subside you just think about what flavor icecream you want to eat today?", Ethan tried to ease her mind by offering icecream.
"Brother must be mad at me, So he took it on you! How can he say that it's a warning to remind you to keep me happy!!", Mia was still concerned about the matter at hand, She didn't want their friendship to become strained because of her.
"He was just playing, it's not like he's never hit me before. You're thinking too much dummy! Come here..", reading her thoughts Ethan hurriedly tried to drift the topic and hugged her to appease her upset mind. Patting her back he kissed her head.
Thinking back Ethan let a soft chuckle and tossed the cigarette out of his car.
Lucifer had spoiled his first date and he wasn't happy with him, but still tried to understand him and appeared Mia to ease out her worries.
Just like any ordinary girl of her age Mia also had a habit of overthinking things, Ethan explained her to avoid misunderstandings.
