The knight immediately lost consciousness.

His eye whites were showing and his teeth shattered. He slumped on the ground with his butt sticking up.

I moved my gaze towards the crouching boy.

Seira had already rushed over to him and was tending to him.

“Hey, are you okay?”

“Uh, yeah……”

“Fam, give me a healing potion to relieve his pain for the time being,” Seira explained.

“I see, you are quite prepared for this.”

“You never know when something might happen, so you have to be prepared. I’ve got everything from healing potions to torches and tongs.”

“Where do you plan to use the last one……” I asked skeptically.

“That……”

The boy spoke interrupted and spoke carefully, “Guard onii-san, thank you for saving me.”

“Don’t worry about it… That aside, I’m sorry I didn’t come to your aid sooner. I put you in a lot of unnecessary pain.”

“U-un. I’m fine.”

“Okay. You’re strong, aren’t you.” I patted the boy on the head.

“Hehe…” the boy smiled shyly.

“Hey!!”

The shout of anger broke the peaceful atmosphere.

The knights were looking at me like I was a demon.

I could sense people coming in from the left and right.

We were surrounded.

“You’ve got a lot of nerve, don’t you…? Do you really think you can get away with messing with us knights?”

“Who do you think is protecting this world? That’s right. We’re the ones protecting the Orb of Light, that’s why you’re still alive.”

“I see,” I said.

“People say that there’s no medicine for stupidity, and they’re right.” I continued.

“What did you say!?”

“Don’t get carried away. Just because you’re guarding the treasure doesn’t mean that you can do as you please.”

This was not an excuse to hurt those you don’t like.

It was foolish to misunderstand your own position just because of the cause that you’ve taken up. Power and position could easily distort a person’s character.

“Thanks for the lecture,” said one of the knights.

“But it’s too long to listen to. You can continue the rest in hell.”

The knights placed their hands on the swords at their waist.

–Apparently, they were serious.

“Everyone, put your swords away! Aren’t we comrades protecting this city together!? Fighting is not going to help!”

Seira hurriedly tried to mend the situation, but the knights didn’t listen to her. They just want to kill anyone who gets in their way.

“Seira, saying anything to them is useless,” Spinoza said, carrying a large hammer on her shoulder and glaring at the knights.

“We’re gonna have to beat the shit out of them for them to understand.”

“I’ll join you. I can’t stand the way they’ve been behaving lately. It’s not a bad idea to give them a good beating.” Fam was also onboard.

…… Good grief. I never thought that this would happen.

I’m not sure how I’ll explain this to Chief Bolton later.

Just when I was inwardly grumbling about it, a voice suddenly came out from the carriage.

“You’ve been making a lot of noise since a while ago. What do you think you’re doing stopping the traffic?”

The door to the carriage opened and a woman stepped out.

She wore silver and white armor and had lustrous hair that reached her waist.

Her gaze was as cold as absolute zero. She had a pretty face and slender arms and legs. The atmosphere around her was so sharp as if it would cut down anyone who approached her carelessly.

“Vice commander Eleanor……”

I heard the knight called her name.

Vice commander…

So this woman was the number two of the knight order.

That made sense.

Just by looking at her, I could tell that she was strong. She was different from these knights. The atmosphere around her was filled with dignity that only a person who trained in the sword could possess.

“Do you know what I hate the most?”

“Ha! It’s a dirty room!”

“Yes. Well, that’s my seventh least favorite thing.”

Eleanor muttered.

“What I hate the most are people who let their emotions get the best of them and shout in anger.”

““!!!””

The knights were put down by the icy glare.

“Will someone report the situation to me?”

“Y-yea! The guards have turned on us. I was just about to defeat these bastards!”

Eleanor’s cold gaze turned towards us this time.

Realizing that we might be in danger, the boy from earlier spoke up to Eleanor as if to appeal to her.

“U-umm, excuse me. I was playing with a ball, and it rolled in front of the knights. When the knights kicked me, guard onii-san helped me out… So onii-san did nothing wrong. It’s all my fault.”

“……”

“You idiot! The guards are just as guilty as you when they turned against us!”

“Vice commander Eleanor! They’re guilty of treason for turning against the order! We have to punish these criminals!”

That’s right. They need to be punished,” Eleanor nodded.

The knights who heard this laughed as if they had won.

“Hahaha! Did you guys hear that? If the vice commander joins us, we’re in control! Your future is over!”

Shwing!

The tip of the sword was thrust at the throat of the knight who had been laughing.

He stopped smiling.

“Eh……?

The one who had thrust the sword was Eleanor.
